Washington Healthplanfinder takes its search
for young invincibles to Sasquatch Festival

Much has been made of the need for young, healthy adults to participate in the new state health exchange in order for it to succeed — so Washington is taking that effort to the Sasquatch Music Festival. The exchange is partnering with Live Nation, the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based producer of Sasquatch and other shows, to send health agency reps to concerts to connect with the population best known as "young invincibles."

Comments:
Shhh...stop telling 20-somethings that we need them to pay more than their share or this won´t work. How are we supposed to get them to sign up?

Ya know, of all the creature theories out there, Sasquatch is the one that I want to be true. I don´t think it is, but I want it to be.

I though she was a wookie from star wars not Sasquatch.

Next you´ll see them at all the star trek conventions too. Heck why stop there. They have them signing up at the bunny ranch too.

Will Obama´s proposed retirement account
plan muster bi-partisan support?

In the polarized atmosphere of Washington, President Obama may have found that rare idea with bi-partisan appeal - his plan for new, federally-backed savings accounts for low and middle income wage earners called MyRA, short for My Retirement Account. "What it is, it´s a new type of savings bond that we can set up without legislation that encourages Americans to begin to build a nest egg," Obama told a crowd in West Miflin, Pa. the day after he unveiled the MyRA plan in Tuesday’s State of the Union speech.

In a bid to slash $465 million of debt, Reader’s Digest parent RDA Holding Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy over the weekend for the second time in less than four years. The media company said it has reached a deal with its largest creditor, Wells Fargo (WFC), and more than 70% of its secured noteholders on a financial restructuring plan that includes the Chapter 11 filing.

Our politics have become so polarized and corrupted that a president of the United States cannot even attend an event devoted to drawing people closer to God and bridge partisan and cultural divides without being lectured about his policies. Last Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., Dr. Ben Carson, director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and a 2008 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, broke with a 61-year-old tradition and publicly disagreed with some of the president´s policies, such as "ObamaCare," taxation and the national debt.

Santa Monica, Calif. - A crusade against toy guns that began in 1987 is being re-launched following the elementary school shooting in Connecticut that left dozens dead. Santa Monica activist Jerry Rubin says a personalized merit award will be sent to children who write to him about why they don´t like playing with toy guns. Rubin says his anti-toy gun project used to reward children who sent in their toy guns with teddy bears in exchange, but stopped after he ran out of the 5,000 donated stuffed animals. Less than two weeks ago, 20 children and six adults were gunned down

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush said Sunday that many who illegally come to the United States do so out of an "act of love" for their families and should be treated differently than people who illegally cross U.S. borders or overstay visas. The comments came during an event marking the 25th anniversary of the presidency of George H. W. Bush at the library and museum that bears the name of the Bush patriarch.

Why does Hillary Clinton hate America? That is the question that should be on everyone’s mind as she embarks on a worldwide tour to plug her forthcoming memoir. Check out this THE POLITICO article [emphasis mine]: Hillary Clinton discussed her work at the State Department, called for young women not to take criticisms personally and rapped the media for treating powerful women with a double standard at the kickoff of “Women in the World” in New York City Thursday night. Clinton’s appearance on a panel with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde, moderated by New York Times columnist Tom Friedman, ran

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush said Sunday that he will base his decision on whether to run for president in 2016 on whether he thinks he can mount a campaign that would transcend the modern-day mechanics of such a run. Bush, the second-oldest son of former president George H. W. Bush and younger brother of George W. Bush, spoke at an event marking the 25th anniversary of his father´s presidency at the library and museum that bears the patriarch´s name. The event was closed to reporters, but moderated by Fox News anchor Shannon Bream and portions of the event were later

In Dearborn, Mich., home to over 40,000 Americans of Arab descent, some Muslim parents have complained about flyers handed out at public schools advertising an Easter egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church. The Muslim parents assert that the flyers – emblazoned with the word “Eggstravaganza!” – violate the separation of church and state widely ascribed to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, reports the Detroit Free Press. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. The “Eggstravaganza!” is scheduled to take place on April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church

Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. The nearly forgotten disease, which has in recent years afflicted thousands of Americans, left Brady´s tiny body swollen and unrecognizable. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. Brady´s burial came just four weeks after his first laugh — inspired by her version of I´m a Little Teapot — and two weeks after his family learned that he had

Accra, Ghana — Jimmy Thorne says that relocating to Ghana is one of the best moves he’s ever made. It doesn’t matter if he, an African-American, gets called “obroni,” the local word for white person, in the streets, or if some of his family can’t quite figure out what he’s doing in this West African nation so far from his roots in North Carolina. Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has sworn off running again for elected office, but Americans have certainly heard that one before. Speculation that Romney might run again has largely been stoked by the reunion he planned to host last month in Park City, Utah, for members of his 2012 campaign and debate team and a string of recent public appearances. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers, who led all national politicians last year with 26 appearances over 12 months. Romney has

American public school students sick of the smaller portions and healthier offerings they get at lunch thanks to Michelle Obama´s anti-obesity initiatives are sounding off on social media. Just a month after school lunch participation saw the steepest drop on record following the implementation of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, students tired of going home hungry are making sure the first lady knows why. ´I´ll never forgive Michelle Obama for this school lunch,´ tweeted one angry student. WASHINGTON- Seven million people signed up, so there is an appetite for President Barack Obama´s health care law, but that doesn´t guarantee success for the country´s newest social program. Big challenges are lurking for the next enrollment season, which starts Nov. 15. Chief among them are keeping premiums and other consumer costs in check, and overhauling an enrollment process that was advertised as customer-friendly but turned out to be an ordeal. "They have demonstrated the law can work, but we are a ways off from being able to judge its success," said Larry Levitt, an expert on health insurance markets

The president gave two speeches this week, one in the Rose Garden to talk about Obamacare and one in Ann Arbor, Mich., to push minimum wage increases. What did we learn? We learned that President Obama is most comfortable in campaign mode, and his campaigning has gotten downright ugly. His Rose Garden speech was a typical self-congratulatory moment for supposedly hitting 7.1 million Obamacare sign-ups — although we know that once again, the White House is ignoring some inconvenient truths. We also learned that the president was vain enough to asked the networks to cover his speech in prime time, but

A female transgender student wants an apology from a North Carolina college for being detained by a security officer and sent home for using the women’s bathroom. The 22-year-old freshman, Andraya Williams, believes she was discriminated against during a March 19 incident at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N.C. because of her looks. The freshman said she was leaving the restroom and going to her social studies class when a female officer stopped her and requested her student ID, according to a statement released by the Transgender Law Center. The officer then laughed while asking the student if
