Dems defying Obama shouldn’t
expect welcome from GOP

New York Post, by Michael Goodwin

Now that the White House is accusing some Senate Democrats of wanting war with Iran instead of peace, it is tempting to welcome those Dems to the Abused-by-Obama Club. They are getting the “enemies” treatment the president routinely dishes out to Republicans, journalists and anyone else who fails to see Dear Leader’s absolute brilliance. But the moment passes and the temptation to sympathize is resisted. Having helped to create the Obama juggernaut and joined in the shaming of all who dared to resist for the last five years, the wayward Dems deserve a dose of their own medicine. They were worse than

FTA Chalk it up to another part of the Obama legacy, and to the Democrats who put their loyalty to party above their duty to America."
There are no more Moderate Dems- They were defeated by the Tea Party and other Conservatives in 2010.
Unless and until the Dems demand Obama be impeached and OBamacare Repealed - they are just playing CYA for reelection.

Competitive advantage takes all forms. And in figure skating, Tchaikovsky may be the difference between gold and a grimace on the kiss-and-cry bench. A skater´s music selection defines the mood: The right tune sparks unison clapping from the crowd and gives an artistic flair to the technical elements. But can certain types of music enable a higher score? Ahead of the ladies´ short program on Wednesday, the Commissariat of Calculation sorted all 159 programs that have been performed so far in Sochi into six musical categories. (This doesn´t include the short programs in ice dancing because the titles and composers of the

Debt-limit vote shows Cornyn’s courage,

With allies like Ted Cruz, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn doesn’t need enemies. Thanks to Sen. Cruz’s latest procedural stunt, Cornyn, a reliably conservative Republican from Texas with a record of responsible governance, now finds himself under siege from bomb-throwing elements of the extreme right over last week’s Senate vote to extend the government’s borrowing authority. Republican leaders in the Senate sought an up-or-down vote that would put all Democrats firmly on record as supporting the debt-limit extension. But Cruz upset all that, demanding the debt-limit bill first clear a nit-picky procedural hurdle requiring 60 votes. With only 55 votes, Democrats were

Wealthy condo developers and the owners of expensive beach houses are petitioning the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cut them a break on flood insurance costs. Meaning that the long-unbalanced insurance system is only getting more uneven, and taxpayers´ subsidies to those property owners are getting more unfair. Here´s how flood insurance works, in the ideal. FEMA develops maps of areas near the coast or inland bodies of water and rivers. Those maps try and anticipate the likelihood of flooding, and if you build in zones that are likely to flood, you pay mandatory insurance premiums linked to the likelihood of

And all of it feels so decadent.(Snip)I was thinking just now about Huey P. Why do environmentalists

Is anyone more hypocritical than a professional environmentalist? In case anyone needs a hint, see this month’s exhibit: As North American environmental activists throw all of their energy and resources into blocking Canada from selling its oil to the United States, they have haven’t made a peep over Iran increasing its own oil exports. And one would think they’d care, as the environmentalists’ entire rationale for opposing Keystone is that if a pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico is built, more carbon will be put into the atmosphere. But their problem here — and often — is that

The Democrats are agitating to raise the minimum wage, unemployment be damned. That was the point of this tweet by Harry Reid, earlier today:(Snip for graphic)Reid’s tweet is dumb on any number of levels: 1) The economy has been far from uniform over recent decades; it is particularly during the seven years during which Reid has been Majority Leader of the Senate that middle-class Americans have suffered. Reid, of course, takes no responsibility. 2) Incomes haven’t been stagnating because of the Koch brothers, who employ more than 60,000 Americans, overwhelmingly in high-paying jobs. Pity the president, first among equals, obliged by the pulls of democracy and of his office to be "equal" and also be "first" all at once. Picking a leader, people look for somebody well above average, stronger and brighter, with superior judgment, keener intelligence and the ability to be calm under stress. At the same time, he must be approachable, cool and in some sort of touch with the people he works for, or lose a key part of the human connection that is a critical source of his strength. The first six presidents were aristocrats of different varieties, four Virginians and

Geneva — No Swiss fighter jets were scrambled Monday when an Ethiopian Airlines co-pilot hijacked his own plane and forced it to land in Geneva, because it happened outside business hours, the Swiss airforce said. When the co-pilot on flight ET-702 from Addis Ababa to Rome locked himself in the cockpit while the pilot went to the bathroom and announced a hijacking, Italian and French fighter jets were scrambled to escort the plane through their respective airspaces. But although the co-pilot-turned-hijacker quickly announced he wanted to land the plane in Switzerland, where he later said he aimed to seek asylum, Switzerland´s fleet

Trump knows that; it’s what the polls say and he isn’t delusional — he’s a showman playing a character. He’s looking for some headlines because that’s his MO. But New York doesn’t have time for Trump’s circus act. The state’s economy is in horrible shape. His grandstanding must take a back seat. Trump has already gotten the pundits to talk about him. He’s had his ego stroked by politicos telling him, “Yes Mr. Trump, you’d make a great governor.” He

Last Friday, in what would be a humiliating episode if it were capable of embarrassment, the Associated Press, aka the Administration’s Press, acted as if a tweet from “@BarackObama” about the TV program House of Cards represented an “endorsement” of the program by President Barack Obama himself. It even described the tweet as his “latest playful executive order,” and reported that a cast member somehow “double-checked the authenticity of the tweet before celebrating.” The folks at AP are so smitten with Dear Leader that they either weren’t aware or didn’t care that the Twitter account involved is from Organizing for America,

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

America’s Founding Fathers fiercely held to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—values which Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed align seamlessly with Obamacare. Pelosi explained why the law is “very sound policy” during a press conference Friday: To go to back to our founders once again, they sacrificed it all for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This law, the affordable care act, is about a healthier life, the liberty to pursue your happiness. That is solid policy, and the mandate is central to that. The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy." Maurice who? Mr. Strong, a former oil executive from Canada (he was Pierre Trudeau´s pick to run state-owned Petro-Canada in the mid-1970s), was for many years the U.N.´s ultimate mandarin.

Who died and made John Kerry an Islamic scholar? U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spent part of his Sunday in his stocking feet at an Indonesian mosque, at one point beating a huge drum used to call Muslims to prayer. WASHINGTON, D.C., February 17, 2014 – President Barack Obama has elevated the right to have sex with a member of the same sex to the level of universal “fundamental freedoms” in a new presidential statement criticizing Uganda. But critics say his promotion of homosexuality in a continent that overwhelmingly opposes that behavior amounts to a form of liberal “cultural imperialism.” Obama wrote on Sunday that he opposed a proposed bill in Uganda that would criminalize same-sex “marriages” and impose life imprisonment for repeated homosexual acts, among other provisions, because “as a country and a people, the United States has consistently

Conducted to test the media hype about a comeback by 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, the new poll found voters still uninspired by Romney, but also deeply dissatisfied with Obama who has so far failed to capitalize on his victory over 15 months ago. The poll asked those who voted for Obama´s reelection a simple question: “Do you regret voting for Barack Obama?” — Overall, 71 percent said yes, 26 percent no. — 80
