Shirley Sherrod’s been busy. Too busy, in fact, to miss her brief tenure as a federal employee. “I just came back to my community and got involved again,” said Sherrod, who in 2010 was famously fired from her job with the USDA after being falsely accused of racism.(snip) “There are still people out there who think I’m a racist,” Sherrod told us in a recent interview. “Breitbart made it impossible for me to work for the federal government again.” It was the summer of 2010 when Andrew Breitbart, the late conservative blogger, published a doctored video of a little known Agriculture Department

WITH a White House cheating scandal set to explode, President BARACK OBAMA and his wife MICHELLE are hiding a divorce shocker from America! Only weeks after Obama publicly humiliated the first lady by snapping a “selfie” with a dishy blonde foreign leader, the first couple’s shaky 21-year marriage has collapsed following a disastrous holiday trip, sources say. The two locked horns in a series of ugly fights during their recent Hawaiian getaway, but sources say the death blow came when Michelle learned that the Secret Service has covered up Obama’s cheating – twice. After a “mole” exposed the president’s betrayal, a furious Michelle

Beginning with registrations due in January, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will assess a $100 annual fee on all electric vehicles registered in the state. Legislation approved in 2013 established the fee to make up for the fact that gasoline taxes are not collected for these vehicles. According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, about 1,600 all-electric vehicles are currently registered in the state. Hybrid vehicles that use a combination of gasoline and electricity are not subject to the fee.

On December 31, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) – al-Qaeda´s affiliate in Iraq and Syria – took over the centers of Ramadi and Fallujah, the two largest cities in Iraq´s Anbar province. A week later the terrorist movement still controls Fallujah, the site of titanic street battles between al-Qaeda and the U.S. Marines in 2004. The center of al-Qaeda´s self-declared caliphate is just 35 miles from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and only 25 miles from the runway where airliners land in Iraq´s capital. Fallujah is an iconic location for other reasons. In 2004 , 122 U.S.

CHICAGO — More than 1,000 requests for concealed carry gun permits are pouring in each day in the nation’s last state to allow the practice, sparking concerns among Illinois law enforcement officials that they might fall behind on weeding out applicants with a history of violence. The Cook County Sheriff’s office says it already has identified about 120 applications it plans to contest since the online application process was opened to most state residents Jan. 5. Chicago Police Department officials, locked in a battle to control high-profile gang violence, say they, too, are worried about keeping up with the flood of

Raised by a single mother who was described as someone who struggled to pay the bills, Obama on Tuesday will meet with Maria Shriver, who is reporting on some 42 million women who she says live “one single incident – a doctor´s bill, a late paycheck, or a broken-down car – away from economic ruin." There has been much debate recently over the merits of extending unemployment benefits — last week, the Senate reached cloture on a bill to do so for three months, and will vote on the bill tonight. Even just among conservatives, the debate has been robust: AEI economist Michael Strain has argued, on the Corner, for extending the benefits, while others, such as Senator Rand Paul, have argued against such an extension. But the debate hasn’t focused on the academic literature on the subject – including an important, surprising new paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), perhaps the most

White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer sent an e-mail early Tuesday to preview President Obama´s plan to use his executive power in ways Americans have never seen before. "President Obama has a resolution for 2014: That this will be a year of action," Pfeiffer said in the e-mail, pointing out that Obama would no longer be waiting around for Congress to get things done. "Instead, the president will use his executive authority, both his pen and his phone, to work with anyone to get things done — whether they be leaders in business, education, Congress, states, or local communities," he said. Black dogs don´t get as adopted as easily as others animals of other colors. The reason is largely because of some common misconceptions about them. Black dogs are mischaracterized as mean and potentially violent and according to NBC News. Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon in which dogs with black fur often go unadopted because of misinformed stereotypes. Black dogs are are euthanized at a much higher rate than dogs with different complexions. Many owners of black dogs say they are sweet, lovable, but also unwanted. The chances of being adopted are poor if you´re a black dog.

Only days after we learned the Obama administration had appointed an Obama donor to head investigations into the IRS targeting of conservative organizations, we now have a leak from law enforcement saying the FBI doesn’t expect to file criminal charges. That’s the gist of a late-breaking story Monday evening in The Wall Street Journal. The story notes that though the investigation may go on another few months, unless other evidence is unearthed, the FBI conclusion will be that the IRS was a “mismanaged bureaucracy” enforcing rules “ it didn’t understand.” Without the evidence, we’re not in a position to say. But criminal

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee wants to ban the term "RINO" -- "Republican in Name Only" -- in the Republican Party. The former governor complained in a letter to supporters that during a recent social media outreach, he was disturbed that too many Republicans were attacking each other and calling them names. "Many of you used a term that I’d like to see outlawed from the vernacular of the party: RINO," he said, calling it a "pejorative term" that questioned one´s purity. Huckabee pointed out that he got a tweet from someone who complained that he was a RINO, which upset him. "With all

In 1994 or early 1995 the still unknown Barack Obama sent his editor at Times Books, Henry Ferris, the first two-thirds of his memoir Dreams from My Father. He told Ferris that to complete the book, he had to return to Kenya to do some research. The evidence strongly suggests that Obama went not to Kenya to do that research but to the local library to do some borderline plagiarizing. In the way of background, Barack and Michelle Obama visited Kenya in the summer of 1992 and married in October of that year. There is little dispute about the timing of

Washington - Just days after dismissing two top advisers for their roles in the George Washington Bridge scandal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is facing questions over the use of Superstorm Sandy relief funds. CNN has learned that federal officials are investigating whether Christie improperly used those relief funds to produce tourism ads that starred him and his family. The news couldn´t come at a worse time for the scandal-plagued Republican, who is facing two probes into whether his staff tied up traffic near the country´s busiest bridge to punish a Democratic mayor who refused to endorse his successful re-election bid.

Before Chris Christie’s first scandal devolves into an obsessive quest to prove who knew what, when, it’s worth pausing to appreciate the wonderful, quintessential New Jerseyness of the incident itself. What happened, roughly, is this. On August 13, Bridget Anne Kelly, one of Christie’s three deputy chiefs of staff, sent an email to David Wildstein, a Christie confidant serving as an executive for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls much of the transit infrastructure of northern Jersey. Kelly said that it was “time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.” Some speculate that the precipitating

Minutes after the American consulate in Benghazi came under assault on Sept. 11, 2012, the nation´s top civilian and uniformed defense officials -- headed for a previously scheduled Oval Office session with President Obama -- were informed that the event was a "terrorist attack," declassified documents show. The new evidence raises the question of why the top military men, one of whom was a member of the president´s Cabinet, allowed him and other senior Obama administration officials to press a false narrative of the Benghazi attacks for two weeks afterward. On Monday, the Supreme Court heard arguments regarding whether President Barack Obama´s appointments to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) are unconstitutional. The case will probably be a lopsided defeat for the president, with his own Supreme Court appointees expressing deep skepticism of the Justice Department´s arguments. If the Court goes the route it signaled during argument, all the rulings and regulations from that powerful body over a period of a couple years will be declared illegal, at least temporarily until a new Board can reconsider them.
