A heroic teacher talked a shooter, aged just 12, into dropping his weapon this morning, just moments after the child walked into a packed gymnasium and opened fire at his classmates, leaving a 12-year-old boy fighting for life and a 13-year-old girl in serious condition. After the first shots rang out at Berrendo Middle School, the unidentified educator was quick to react, throwing himself towards the armed youngster and convincing him to lay his shotgun on the ground, New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and Roswell ISD superintendent Tom Burris revealed in a Tuesday afternoon press conference. ´The student was quickly stopped by

Under rules established by liberal pantywaists, the heroic teacher will now be fired for not going immediately into lockdown.

Teachers are heroes every day, they work to educate our children because they care about the future of our country. Virtually all of us have stepped into situations where we might have suffered physical harm. I salute this teacher who did the right thing with no thought of his own safety. And to answer #1 I assure you he will not be disciplined for his actions.

The courage to step in to prevent bad behavior that this teacher demonstrated is what made our country great at one time. Contrary to what the socialists are saying, we must return to the mode of "See something, DO SOMETHING!"

I´d say this was more than bad behavior. To bad someone didn´t just shoot the little jerk and save taxpayers the money to "rehabilitate" him.

RUSH: This is the one that almost made me come out of the couch. OBAMA: In the coming months, let´s see where else we can make progress together. Let´s make this a year of action! That´s what most Americans want: For all of us, in this chamber, to focus on their lives, their hopes, their aspirations. What I believe unites the people of this nation -- regardless of race or region or party, young or old, rich or poor -- is the simple, profound belief in opportunity for all, the notion that if you work hard and take responsibility, you can

RUSH: The Republican response. You know, the Republican response is a no-win. Any response is a no-win. There´s nothing you can do. It´s television. It´s optics. There´s just no way. You can have the nicest looking room and fireplace in the world, and nothing is gonna compare to a packed House chamber no matter who the president is, no matter what he´s thought of. So it´s a tough thing to overcome. There´s another thing here that -- just so there´s no confusion, I like Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Islamofascism: Caving to pressure from Muslim groups, the Pentagon has relaxed uniform rules to allow Islamic beards, turbans and hijabs. It´s a major win for political correctness and a big loss for military unit cohesion. Also, the sharia-compliant regulation threatens to expand the jihadi Fifth Column that counterintelligence already is dealing with in the wake of the Fort Hood massacre. The FBI is tracking more than 100 suspected jihadists within the military. Making special accommodations for Islam will only attract more Muslims into the military at a time when two recent terror cases highlight the ongoing danger of Muslims in uniform. Earlier this

Principle: Republicans look ready to throw in the towel on shrinking the nation´s gargantuan debt. With 10 months to go before midterm elections, it´s yet another slap in the face to the GOP´s most enthusiastic supporters. Nearly all political pundits agree Republicans have the inside track to winning this fall´s congressional elections — and perhaps even recapturing both houses of Congress. The GOP certainly seems to think so. But it might be taking such success for granted. State Of The Union: President Obama made a confession to the American people Tuesday. His call for "a year of action" admits that he´d prefer we forget his five years of failed actions and inaction. Confession may be good for the soul, but it can´t be good for the country when a president admits failure by talking as if somebody else has been in charge for the past five years. "As president, I´m committed to making Washington work better and rebuilding the trust of the people who sent us here," Obama said several minutes into Tuesday´s annual Joint Session speech. Read President Obama’s State of the Union version 6.0, and one theme comes into sharp relief: the bankruptcy of liberalism. President Obama’s speech asked for this and that, ranging from anti-obesity programs to gun control to a minimum wage for government contractors. It made open pleas for the support of different interest groups, including recent immigrants and women. It claimed achievements for which the White House was not responsible, such as the addition of millions of new jobs in the recovery and America’s growing energy independence. Obama’s State of the Union reads like a shopping list while those of earlier presidents

The speech last night was depressing for its predictability, its lack of self-awareness, and its lack of solutions to help America get back on track. It was, however, stunning to listen to the president still trying to sell his misguided health-care law to the public as if nothing had happened. That takes some courage. Over at Forbes, Cato Institute’s Michael Cannon has a great piece that looks at the president’s statements about Obamacare. At least one part of Obama’s speech last night was both moving and fitting: I first met Cory Remsburg, a proud Army Ranger, at Omaha Beach on the 65th anniversary of D-Day. Along with some of his fellow Rangers, he walked me through the program – a strong, impressive young man, with an easy manner, sharp as a tack. We joked around, and took pictures, and I told him to stay in touch. A few months later, on his tenth deployment, Cory was nearly killed by a massive roadside bomb in Afghanistan. His comrades found him in a canal, face down, underwater,

As President Obama tries to deflect attention away from his failed foreign and domestic policies he´s bringing up the old class warfare issue in one of its stereotypical garbs: a raise in the minimum wage. It would be nice for everyone to earn more money, and sympathy can be gained by saying the least paid could benefit the most from a pay raise. But the question Obama and his media supporters flee from is a simple one: who pays? The jobs held by minimum wage earners are predominantly in service jobs, such as fast food franchises, and small business establishments. These businesses

MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell recalled on Monday some of the most impactful State of the Union addresses in the recent past, focusing primarily on George W. Bush’s post-9/11 speech in which he called North Korea, Iraq, and Iran members of an “Axis of Evil.” Mitchell ripped into Bush and former Secretary of State Colin Powell for approving that remark which alienated Iran, a country she said had been “more or less an American ally.” Washington Post reporter Chris Cillizza said that the “Axis of Evil” address was among the most important State of the Union addresses delivered in recent memory. “That

Of all the troubling aspects of the Obama presidency, none is more dangerous than the president´s persistent pattern of lawlessness, his willingness to disregard the written law and instead enforce his own policies via executive fiat. On Monday, Mr. Obama acted unilaterally to raise the minimum wage paid by federal contracts, the first of many executive actions the White House promised would be a theme of his State of the Union address Tuesday night. The president´s taste for unilateral action to circumvent Congress should concern every citizen, regardless of party or ideology. President Barack Obama delivered a State of the Union Address on Tuesday that was important less for what he said than for what it says about him. The speech was long, more than an hour. At times it was defiant, at others it felt almost conciliatory. But mostly the speech was forgettable, disposable – a long list of modest policy proposals that will not be remembered for much longer than their echo in the House chamber. On domestic policy, we knew what to expect. The stars of last year’s speech – immigration and gun control – were mere afterthoughts this year,

It´s a good thing I remembered where I stored all my old ski gear, including the thermal underwear that I hadn´t worn in years. I´ve needed it during a season in which even the Deep South has seen an epidemic of frozen pipes, single-digit temperatures and school cancellations without snow. School kids were allowed to stay home for a day or two because, according to administrators, the weather was too doggone cold. The deep freeze might have forced most of us into a shoulder-hunching slouch, but it prompted an Easter Parade-like promenade by a crew of familiar climate change skeptics

The Queen’s household finances were at a “historic low” with just £1 million left in reserve, MPs said on Monday. Her courtiers were advised to take money-saving tips from the Treasury. A report by the Commons public accounts committee found that the Queen’s advisers were failing to control her finances while the royal palaces were “crumbling”. MPs said her advisers had overspent to such an extent that her reserve fund had fallen from £35 million in 2001 to just £1 million today. The Royal household had made efficiency savings of just 5 per cent over the past five years compared

Following President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, former George W. A future of hope and opportunity begins with a growing economy. A future of hope and opportunity requires our citizens have affordable and available health care.’
