Race in purple Florida congressional

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. — Alex Sink was running late, but she was still in a chipper mood. “How is everybody?” the Democrat cheerfully asked her team of door-knockers on a recent campaign swing this Central Florida district. Judging by the usual campaign metrics, Sink has a lot to be upbeat about in her quest to replace one of the longest-serving Republicans in the history of the U.S. House. She faces a weak Republican field roiled by family drama, she is raising a lot of money and she boasts a résumé free of congressional baggage. She is the Democrats’ dream candidate

These races are always "bellwethers" if the WaPo thinks the dim will win.

What a sorry, sorry excuse for a "news"paper. Sorry, sorry, sorry excuse.

If media outlets could get human diseases, the WaPo would have stage 5 brain cancer. Fortunately, there is one similarity. Just like with someone with stage 5 brain cancer, the WaPo is on life support and doesn´t have long to live.

It will not be a cause for mourning when the end has arrived.

Alex Sink, a female Hillsborough County (Tampa and environs) resident--or, as we call them, Tampanians or Tam-pons--last soundly defeated in gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races, doesn´t live in Pinellas County, but is more than willing to lease an ultrawide down off East Bay in Largo in order to make her next thrust at public office legitimate. Since Pinellas is a purple-to-blue county in presidential elections, residents should pay attention.

The late C.W. "Bill" Young, congressman since 1971, was, same as his colleagues in North County and North Hillsborough County (the Bilirakis father and son), overall a good representative. Alex Sink will toe the Obama-Hillary! line. And after she loses she´ll drive back across the Bay to her permanent home over there, and try to enter some other political contest. One would think she´d eventually learn, but Democrats never do.

Automatic Spellcheck® probably prevented Sean Sullivan from sneaking an a into the second syllable of bellwether.

"After years of fiscal and economic mismanagement, the president has offered perhaps his most irresponsible budget yet," House Speaker John Boehner said on Tuesday, after President Obama released his $3.9 trillion election-year budget. The fiscal year 2015 spending proposal raises taxes on the wealthy and spends more on preschool, infrastructure, and job training, the Associated Press reported. But as Boehner indicated, Republicans won´t accept it. "American families looking for jobs and opportunity will find only more government in this plan," Boehner said. "Spending too much, borrowing too much, and taxing too much, it would hurt our economy and cost jobs.

AUSTIN — Incumbent John Cornyn trounced his renegade primary challenger from the right, U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman, and easily captured the U.S. Senate Republican nomination Tuesday — making his road to re-election far easier even as some tea party activists continue to insist he’s too moderate. Dallas dental mogul David Alameel and frequent candidate Kesha Rogers have advanced to a runoff to decide the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination. They were the top-two vote-getters in Tuesday’s five-candidate field for a post held by Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, but neither won a majority. PINEHURST, N.C. - President Barack Obama sent Congress a $3.9 trillion budget for next year. It includes tax increases on the wealthy and spending on things like roads and job training. Little of it will pass the Republican House. The budget would also shrink the armed forces. This could mean tens of thousands of service members will join the civilian workforce. That a Senate Majority Leader should indulge such crazed vituperation against a couple of private citizens, on the floor of the Senate, dramatizes how low our democracy has fallen. The crisis in Ukraine has brought out a fresh round of critics of President Obama´s foreign policy who see a pattern emerging: the president tries to assert his authority and direct events on the world stage with empty threats, which inevitably have no follow through. With each instance, U.S. power grows weaker as foreign powers view Mr. Obama as the president who cried wolf. The latest case: Mr. Obama´s public warning to Russia to stay out of Ukraine was followed by an invasion just days later. It´s just the latest failure, say critics who point to Syria as an example.
