Fmr. Kerry Aide: Iran Should

Terrorism Against U.S.

Washington Free Beacon, by Adam Kredo

A longtime aide for Secretary of State John Kerry is urging senators to oppose a new Iran sanctions measure because it would level tough penalties on Tehran should it carry out a terror attack against Americans anywhere in the world. One of the requirements of a new bipartisan Iran sanctions bill in the Senate is that President Barack Obama certify “Iran has not directly, or through a proxy, supported, financed, planned, or otherwise carried out an act of terrorism against the United States or United States persons or property anywhere in the world” during nuclear negotiations with the West. If Iran—one of

It does not get better than this, obviously Omaha has the smartest people in the world navigating US diplomatic efforts these days. You have to ask why retaliate at all against foreign terrorist countries and organizations, as you might make them mad and they might not cooperate with Obama´s smart people on their quest to grab a Noble Peace Prize!

Dude, it could happen. Three easy steps to Romney 3.0: He comes out strong for amnesty to mend fences with Latino voters; he finally decides to ix-nay the “makers and takers” etoric-rhay, and of course he chooses Mike Huckabee to be his VP. Can’t. Miss. Seriously, though, this is just one Republican operative talking and he’s obviously joking. I think? In interviews with more than a dozen party officials, fundraisers, and strategists in New York and Washington over the past 10 days, Republicans described a palpable sense of anxiety gripping the GOP establishment in the wake of Christie’s meltdown, and an emerging

The United States has agreed to send new arms to Iraq to thwart Al Qaeda-linked militants currently controlling Fallujah following a request by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, senior defense officials told Fox News. Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, declined to detail the immediate status of those trainers, but did confirm Maliki’s request, adding that the United States will send “several thousand” M-16 and M-4 rifles, as well as ammunition. The new weapons have been “sourced,” Warren said, and should arrive in Iraq in weeks. The United States is also in discussions with the Iraqis to send officials to

The myth of the poor, oppressed jihadist never dies. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is the latest Obama administration official to peddle this odious narrative. Cue John Lennon’s cloying “Imagine,” don your plaid pajamas, and curl up with a warm cup of deadly naivete. While meeting with Catholic Church officials at the Vatican in Rome on Monday, Kerry expounded on their “huge common interest in dealing with this issue of poverty, which in many cases is the root cause of terrorism or even the root cause of the disenfranchisement of millions of people on this planet.” In other words: If

The Environmental Protection Agency has told farmers and ranchers it is sorry for handing private information about them over to environmental groups, but agriculture advocates who fear attacks from eco-terrorists say it´s like closing the barn door after the horses escaped. In response to Freedom of Information Requests, the federal agency released information on up to 100,000 agriculture industry workers, including their home address and phone numbers, GPS coordinates and even personal medical histories. The agency later acknowledged much of the information should never have been provided, and even asked the recipients to give it back. “If someone is setting

The April 2012 visit came before the Muslim Brotherhood´s candidate was elected Egypt´s president, although the Brotherhood´s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) had won a plurality of seats in parliamentary elections. The expedited entry is known as a "port courtesy" normally reserved for high-ranking visiting government officials and dignitaries. There are no words to describe what happened Friday during a live event held by Covered California designed to increase interest among young people in the Affordable Care Act. Actually… there are words: insane, perplexing, inexplicable, and psychologically scarring come to mind. What was billed as a “live celebration of the 35 million Americans who now gain access to affordable health insurance under the Affordable Care Act,” the six and a half hour event rapidly — almost immediately — devolved into a celebration of the offbeat and eccentric. The only question is, “Why?” As the only non-governmental organization in the country litigating in federal court to uncover the full story about what happened before, during, and following the Benghazi massacre, Judicial Watch knows first-hand that the full story has not been told and that a massive cover-up is underway. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) this week re-introduced two bills aimed at reducing and preventing racially based outcomes in the criminal justice system. "From the biased use of ´stop and frisk´ policies to the impact of unfair mandatory minimum sentences on minority communities, there is widespread evidence that racial disparities pervade our criminal justice system," Cohen said. "These disparities undermine confidence in the system, threaten the cause of justice, and cannot continue in a society that holds fairness and equality in high regard." Reps. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) have proposed a bill that would require U.S. officials to ensure that immigrants who are detained are made fully aware of their legal rights. The Immigrant Detainee Legal Rights Act, H.R. 3914, establishes an Office of Legal Access Programs, which would educate illegal immigrants about their rights. The program would also help detained immigrants make "informed and timely decisions regarding their removal and eligibility for relief from removal." The bill and its sponsors say this would increase efficiency and reduce the costs associated with immigration proceedings. "Far too often immigrants are taken

Obama believes Republicans will feel politically vulnerable, if they fail to advance the issue, a high priority among Hispanic voters, according to Democratic senators who met with the president this week. Obama sees immigration reform as a source for optimism in what has otherwise shaped up as a tough year for Democrats. “He predicted the House would pass something this year,” said Sen. On the Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving, Barack Obama sat in the office cabin of Air Force One wearing a look of heavy-lidded annoyance. The Affordable Care Act, his signature domestic achievement and, for all its limitations, the most ambitious social legislation since the Great Society, half a century ago, was in jeopardy. His approval rating was down to forty per cent—lower than George W. Bush’s in December of 2005, when Bush admitted that the decision to invade Iraq had been based on intelligence that “turned out to be wrong.” Also, Obama said thickly, “I’ve got a fat lip.” That morning,

Gov. Cuomo has a message for conservative Republicans — you don’t belong in New York. Late Thursday afternoon, the Senate passed a $1.1 trillion spending measure that´s best described as a fix -- fix, as in an act of Republican perfidy and chicanery. The process was rigged by Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader McConnell (doubtless with a wink and a nod from Harry Reid) to push through the gargantuan spending measure while giving House and Senate Republicans cover on ObamaCare funding. The bill was an incomprehensible 1,582 pages. Here´s how it worked. House Republicans passed the spending bill with a provision to strip funding from ObamaCare. A federal commission rejected three states’ requests to ask voters for proof of citizenship, issuing a complex decision Friday that said it’s up to the national government, not the states, to decide what to include on registration forms. Under the motor-voter law, federal officials distribute voter-registration forms in all of the states. Arizona, Kansas and Georgia all asked that those forms request proof of citizenship, but the federal Election Assistance Commission rejected that in a 46-page ruling. The EAC said states can check driver’s license databases or ask federal immigration authorities for information, but they cannot tell the federal government

A recent conversation with a veteran of GOP presidential campaigns raised this question: Which, if any, of the recent battleground states are likely to become more Republican by 2016? The consensus: very few. That reality highlights one problem Republicans face as they seek to regain the White House after six years under President Obama. Lots of factors affect elections: the quality of the candidates, the state of the economy, the effectiveness of the campaigns. But in a country whose demographics continue to change, Republicans will begin this campaign with one significant disadvantage. Over the past three decades, the political leanings of

Discussing the report’s findings with Piers Morgan, Sen. Morgan actually attempted to deflect some of the blame to Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed during the attack:
