Friday, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) published a photograph on his Facebook page of all the rules and regulations President Barack Obama’s administration implemented throughout 2013. The photo, a display of all the printed pages of the federal register, is 80,000 pages worth of regulations stacked in a filing cabinet. “Behold my display of the 2013 Federal Register,” Lee wrote along with the photograph. “It contains over 80,000 pages of new rules, regulations, and notices all written and passed by unelected bureaucrats. The small stack of papers on top of the display are the laws passed by elected members of Congress

Every page creates a compliance burden even if it is just understanding how it applies to each business. For some, the changes will only be a new way to report the same information. For others, it will mean a dramatic change in the way they do business or make product. Many of these rules were due in 2012, but were delayed until 2013 to avoid the election. Many of these did not delay implementation even though the rule itself was delayed. While the businesses scramble to comply, what goes unreported is the advantages that accrue to cronies behind the new rules. There are only two bright sports:

1) The delay allowed natural gas from shale to fully develop in competition to coal

2) States like NY who decided to rewrite the rules for development of natural gas resources will be sitting on the sidelines as states like PA capitalize on the opportunity

Everything done in DC is done by staff, aides, and unelected bureaucrats. All Congressmen do is strut, shout, argue, call people begging for money, eat, play golf, party, call people begging for more money, lie and cheat. That about sums up Congress.

The Progressives in Congress have long been building the bureaucracy for just this purpose...rule by decree not by law. Obama and his thugs have been using this to sqash/quash and ride herd on America and it MUST be STOPPED!

A way to fix this is simple. A Constitutional Ammendment should be passed that says (reasonable additions/changes could be considered but the gist is here...)

All Regulations, Policies and all other forms of rules, herein called "Rules", promulgated by any Agency of the Government must stand for a vote in the Congress of 2/3 Majority for approval to include the Presidential Signature.

No Rule will be enacted that causes burden on any citizen, corporation, State or any other entity, herein called "Affected Parties", without full funding from the Congress to fully compensate Affected Parties, of all costs of implementaion/compliance with said Rule.

The implementation of any Rule may only occur after legal review of all provisions for constitutionality by the SCOTUS ahead of time, and full legislative approval by each State where the above mentioned Rules will apply.

Any attempted or actual violation of the above provisions by any Agency, it´s leadership or any other Agency entity/persons and/or any elected official shall be punishable by a minimum of 50 years in Prison with no possibility of parole.

Call it the Freedom From Bureaucratic Tyrany Act...FFBTA.

On top of what I just wrote, all existing "Rules" shall be reviewed and will undergo the same approval processes as outlined above.

(Got to get rid of the current insanity as well.)

Excellent suggestions, and should have been in place decades ago. Do it now.
At the same time, part of the reason that there is so much of this, is that the federal government has gown, like a cancer, and is involved in a whole host of matters thar are not Constitutionally enumerated. Examples are not hard to find. Shut down entire departments and agencies, fire ALL the bureaucrats, and throw every single reg published by them into an incinerator. Demolish the buildings. Be done with it all.

it is everywhere - starting 1 Jan this year, replace some weathered wood on your front porch or replace a window you need a permit, with the permit comes an inspection of your plumbing - if you don´t have the mandated toilets or shower heads or faucets you have 30 days to comply - next will be mandating thermostats be compliant with the Smart Meter

- what next? light bulb inspections?

Paul Ryan: Obama presidency

Top House Republicans slammed President Obama’s embrace of executive action to move his agenda forward on Sunday, saying the president’s freelancing creates a trust deficit that makes bipartisan legislating more difficult. “We have an increasingly lawless presidency where he is actually doing the job of Congress, writing new policies and new laws without going through Congress. Presidents don´t write laws, Congress does,” Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told ABC. “Executive orders are one thing, but executive orders that actually change the statute, that´s totally different.”

WASHINGTON— Days after House Republicans unveiled a roadmap for an overhaul of the nation´s broken immigration system, one of its backers said legislation is unlikely to pass during this election year. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said distrust of President Barack Obama runs so deep in the Republican caucus that he´s skeptical the GOP-led House would pass any immigration measure. He said a plan that puts security first could only pass if lawmakers believe the administration would enforce it — an unlikely prospect given Republicans´ deep opposition to Obama. "This isn´t a trust-but-verify, this is a verify-then-trust approach," Ryan said. Last

For decades, Toshiaki Toyoshima has followed the same ritual each morning at his downtown restaurant: He ties on his indigo happi — a short-sleeved Japanese chef´s jacket — and dons a white cap before he begins cutting fish for nearly 500 customers who dine at Sushi Gen daily. But in January, Toyoshima´s tradition-bound routine was upset. He had to add a step: A new law now forces him to snap on a pair of thin vinyl gloves before he can touch the fish. His gloved hands seem to move no less deftly as he stands behind mounds of tuna fillets

WASHINGTON — SO how do you make Monica haunt Hillary’s dreams? That’s what Republicans have been gnawing on, and that’s what not-so-bland Rand Paul was cagey enough to figure out. Fresh from taunting rival Chris Christie as “the king of bacon,” and declaring their feud “water under the bridge,” Paul turned his slingshot at a bigger target, the Big Dog himself, the gallivanting global statesman who is more popular than he has ever been, the master politician who has had to sell President Obama to America only a few years after he so vituperatively tried to turn off America on

Moody´s rating agency has lowered the outlook for health insurers from stable to negative, blaming ObamaCare. Few Americans will shed tears for insurance companies. But the Moody´s announcement is a warning sign to taxpayers. They´ll be getting clobbered. Section 1342 of the Affordable Care Act forces taxpayers to make insurers whole for most of the losses incurred selling ObamaCare exchange plans through 2016. The bailout is designed to conceal the failure of the president´s signature health law until he is out of office. No one in the Obama administration talked up the advantages of bailing out insurers. It was kept under wraps until

At the time, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe blamed Congress for the loss, citing an “inflexible business model.” “We’ve achieved some excellent results for the year in terms of innovations, revenue gains, and cost reductions, but without major legislative changes we cannot overcome the limitations of our inflexible business model,” Donahoe said. “Congress is moving forward with legislation that has the potential to give us greater flexibility and put us back on a firm financial footing
