Pope, in nod to conservatives,
calls abortion ´horrific´

Reuters, by Philip Pullella

Original Article

Pope Francis, whom conservatives in the Roman Catholic Church have accused of not speaking out forcefully enough against abortion, on Monday called the practice "horrific". The pope made his toughest remarks to date on abortion in his yearly address to diplomats accredited to the Vatican, a speech known as his "State of the World" address. "It is horrific even to think that there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day," he said in a section of the speech about the rights of children around the world. Since his election in March, the pope, while

It appears Reuters has discovered that the Pope is Catholic!

What is it going to take for the secular media to understand that the Pope can´t change revealed truth! You can´t apply political labels to Catholicism.

It´s not just a nod to conservatives. The Catholic church is never going to approve abortion - never.

Breitbard picked up the Reuter´s piece - but I didn´t want to start another topic.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2014/01/13/reuters-dismisses-pope-abortion-opposition-as-nod-to-conservatives

In its abortion piece, though, Reuters just doesn´t seem to want to accept that Francis truly does see abortion as "horrific." How else to explain why they would try to write Francis´s comment off as a symbolic gesture to appease the political right. Reuters has no evidence or reporting to back up its premise, and so it comes off as wishful thinking.

Sure, part of it is political. But that can´t explain how much the media likes this Pope or why they work so hard to angle most everything he says in a way that lets them like him.

The press tactic to manipulate the Pope reminds me of the "Greenhouse effect" where NYT writer Greenhouse praises justices who have "grown" in a liberal direction. Conservatives may laugh at the idea that praise and criticism in the press could move anyone´s principled positions, but it happens all the time.

They have eagerly misinterpreted every word this man has publicly spoken. When are they going to understand that the Catholic Church is NEVER going to "get on board" with abortion and homosexual "marriage". It does not have the authority to do so.

#7 brings up an interesting question: “Sure, part of it is political. But that can´t explain how much the media likes this Pope or why they work so hard to angle most everything he says in a way that lets them like him.”

My first thought is that the leftist media response is deeply rooted in their human need for the goodness of God. They find themselves naturally drawn to Pope Francis because his personhood in enveloped and radiates the goodness of a man whose life has been dedicated to God. However, because the Marxist ideology rejects God and His Goodness this causes a cogitative dissonance that requires them to cherry pick his words out of context and rearrange them in a manner that fits their philosophy.

The MSM had the same response to Mother Theresa. They loved her work for the poor, sick, and untouchable of India, but they ignored the religious devotion that was central to her ministry, Adoration of the True Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. The communists are always confounded by Faith.

The Fruits of the Holy Spirit are impossible for humans not to recognize, but due to free will it is not impossible for humans to them rationalize away.

The MSM continues to "love" Pope Francis for what they think he is rather than for what he really is. They believe that by applauding him now they will make him beholden to them for his popularity and thus they would be able to exercise some "political and moral" pressure on him and force him to support their secular social agenda on issues like divorce and remarriage, abortion, gay marriage euthanasia and women priests, etc etc. God help him when they come to realize that Pope Francis is Catholic and even he cannot change existing declared fundamental dogmas and eternal moral principles of Catholicism, all of which are firmly based on either the clear directives of Jesus Christ Himself ("what God has joined together let no man put asunder") and/or clear biblical texts. Then their hatred of and vituperation against him will exceed even that of the modern liberal establishment against Pope Pius IX, who was caught up in a similar situation: Initial liberal "great expectations" were thwarted once the liberals revealed their true modernist agenda.

It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics.
