Obamacare: Clearly and Consistently Negative
American Spectator, by J.T. Young

Original Article

Political parties’ real electoral danger isn’t overwhelmingly negative public opinion, but opinion clearly and consistently negative. The reason is obvious: Political parties are neither stupid enough — nor long survive — taking hugely unpopular positions. The bad news is Obamacare looks to be the kind of clearly and consistently negative issue that leaves the administration and Democrats damned if they do, and damned if they don’t. The political landscape clearly shows political parties are more likely to face political difficulties from issues that decidedly and consistently run against them. Most contentious issues exist and persist with both parties hovering around majority

This is clearly and consistently wishful thinking. The vast majority of Americans have opposed this law even before it past. Yet it past, survived a legal challenge and continues destroy our healthcare system, jobs, fiancees and future. And the fascist that shoved it down our throats still have the House, Senate and Judiciary well under their iron fist control. We have all heard about the collapse of Obambicare for years and it is no where near collapse. WE are moving towards a tipping point. Not one of elections burn one of bold, decisive action by the people to throw off the oppression of the fascist and their choke hold on us.

The media is happy making Obamacare about the website only and cheering people who signed up for something free. There´s people who have no choice but to pay through the nose for Obamacare. But the worst is yet to come as the overall plan continues to ruin people lives, even in the medical profession.

Old school doctors really hate electronic records and bureaucrats making medical decisions.A hge wave of Drs. and hospitals opting out will be another shock to these people.

As Ray Nagin trial nears,

Potential jurors screened for the scheduled Jan. 27 corruption trial of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin will be asked about their understanding of the indictment, and their ability to presume Nagin innocent until proven guilty. They will not, however, be asked a series of questions proposed by Nagin´s defense attorney, Robert Jenkins, that inspired opposition among prosecutors, a federal judge has ruled. Nagin is accused of accepting bribes and kickbacks during his tenure as mayor. Jenkins made his case last week for keeping a handful of questions about potential jurors´ understanding of the difference between a charge and a conviction. One

Republicans seek own policy

Top Republicans are saying they can no longer just be the party of "No" on Obamacare: They need to come up with an alternative healthcare policy. While many Americans are skeptical of President Barack Obama´s healthcare overhaul, they also tell lawmakers they worry about keeping their costs from getting out of control. For those voters, a party that offers a platform to repeal the 2010 law without anything to replace it may not be very attractive. As a result, lawmakers from both the establishment wing of the Republican Party and the more fiscally conservative small-government proponents in the Tea Party movement are

The national debate over marijuana legalization has caught many liberals in a confounding paradox. These liberals, who have fought vociferously for bans on cigarettes, super-sized sodas, trans fats and other unhealthy substances, now either advocate for the legalization of marijuana or stand unopposed to it. This is notable because, whatever else it is, marijuana is not healthy. In his recent New Yorker interview, President Obama remarked, “I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big

Attorney General Eric Holder reiterated his 2009 claim that Americans are a “nation of cowards” on racial issues on Thursday. Holder’s effort to profile the entire nation as cowards came during a friendly interview with the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, where was asked if he would take back his 2009 remarks. “I would not take that back,” he replied. As usual, Holder did not brave questions from the audience or from other reporters in the room. In 2009, Holder claimed that “though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been and we

Wendy Davis has no future in politics

Want to know why Wendy Davis will have trouble winning higher office in Texas or anywhere else in America? It’s not because she stretched the truth in her “from mobile-home-living single mom to Harvard Law grad” campaign biography, nor because her husband paid for her education, nor even because she placed a lot of value on her career. Nope: It’s because Davis, the Lone Star State senator who became famous for her filibuster of an abortion-limiting bill in Texas, lost custody of her children to her ex-husband. This revelation about Davis’ past, which came to light thanks to reporting by Wayne Slater

So what if the sectarian conflict raging from Beirut to Baghdad claimed yet more lives last week? From the Obama administration’s perspective, all’s well with its Middle East policy. Not a bombing in the Lebanese capital, nor clashes throughout Iraq, nor even reports that Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian regime systematically tortured and executed 11,000 detainees can shake the White House’s confidence in its strategic vision. For Obama envisages, as he told the New Yorker last week, a “new geopolitical equilibrium” emerging in the Middle East. And as the White House measures progress—diplomatic frequent flyer miles, not body counts on the ground—all

Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden says he wants to return to the U.S. to resolve his standoff with American authorities over classified data he leaked last year, but that he can’t do so until he can be sure he’ll get a fair trial. “Returning to the U.S., I think, is the best resolution for the government, the public, and myself, but it’s unfortunately not possible in the face of current whistleblower protection laws, which through a failure in law did not cover national security contractors like myself,” he said in a live online chat Thursday. Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s indictment on charges that he accepted illegal gifts, vacations and loans from a major campaign contributor who sought special treatment is so shocking, in part, because McDonnell is the first governor in the history of the Commonwealth to face criminal charges. Unlike plenty of other states, Virginia doesn’t have a long history of scandals and ethics abuses. Which states are more used to corruption? Well, depending on how you define corruption, it could be Florida, or Louisiana, or Tennessee, or New York, or Georgia. And then there’s the District of Columbia. Here’s how each of the above

The United Nations cultural agency has disgraced itself again, deciding at the last minute to postpone an exhibition of the 3,500-year relationship of the Jewish people to the Holy Land. This exhibition, co-sponsored by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, was due to open this past Monday at the Paris headquarters of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). But last week 22 Arab states sent a letter to UNESCO’s secretariat, protesting that this exhibition could endanger the “peace process.” (French text of the letter here, courtesy of UN Watch). Allan Levene really -- really -- wants to serve in Congress. So much so, that he plans to run in four states: Georgia. Minnesota. Michigan. Hawaii. It´s puzzling, but the Republican freely admits his strategy increases his odds of winning a House seat. As he sees it, all roads lead to Rome. "No matter where you win a seat in Congress, you go to the same building. You do the same work," he said. "You can work for your constituents, which all have similar needs, but the key is you go to Washington and help solve the country´s problems." Legally, his strategy is possible. But

WASHINGTON — There are many different indicators of an unhappy society. Sociologists point to crime rates, suicide rates, the incidence of divorce, even the frequency of customers leaving the lights on in public restrooms. Economists point to economic growth rates, unemployment rates, the University of Michigan’s monthly economic outlook for the United States. One of my own personal favorites is the sudden transformation of the Republic’s healthy, happy, rosy-cheeked bicycle riders into a mob of angry cranks. It happens every few decades and is a sure sign of an unhappy society. I well remember back in the late 1970s when, come to

The Pentagon on Wednesday is expected to announce widespread changes to rules governing religious items and religion-based physical attributes that service members can maintain while in uniform — including beards, some religious tattoos, and turbans. NBC News obtained an early draft of the new Department of Defense instruction which states that the military will make every effort to accommodate “individual expressions of sincerely held beliefs” (conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs) of service members. It goes on to say that unless doing so could have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline, health and safety,

In politics, lying is the new sex. Even the lesser sin, exaggeration, is grounds for questions about your suitability to run for office. Americans may be becoming more like the French in tolerating peccadilloes (just ask Rep. Mark Sanford of South Carolina or Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana about surviving a sex scandal), but get a detail wrong about whether you divorced at 21 or at 19, and woe unto you. That’s what happened to Wendy Davis over the weekend. You may know her as the Texas state senator in pink sneakers who delivered an 11-hour filibuster against abortion restrictions in June.

What’s so great about Zulu? To answer that question properly, you need to pass this test first. 1) Do you know Men of Harlech off by heart? 2) Can you name at least half of the 11 Victoria Cross winners in the film (by their nicknames where possible) without resorting to Google? 3) Have you ever found yourself stirred to ridiculous feelings of patriotism by John Barry’s magnificent film score on the morning commute? I really hope someone else answers “yes” to all three, otherwise you can chalk me up as a lone madman. Zulu--released 50 years ago this week--is

Those who believe the Obama administration is incompetent weigh in at a clip of 53-42 – a margin of 11 points. In addition, more people believe that the president is not even paying attention to what’s going on than the contrary: 47-45. The bare-bones Wendy Davis story — the one without embellishment — is sufficiently inspiring as a matrix for defying expectations. The daughter of a teenage mother and a teenage mother herself, Davis managed to beat the odds by getting a college education and Ivy League law degree, then launching a political career that’s brought her national adulation. But since Davis’ Democratic gubernatorial ambitions caught fire last year, “facts have been blurred” in the retelling of her life’s story, as reported Sunday by this newspaper’s senior political writer, Wayne Slater.

TOPEKA — A man who provided sperm to a lesbian couple in response to an online ad is the father of a child born to one of the women and must pay child support, a Kansas judge ruled Wednesday. Topeka resident William Marotta had argued that he had waived his parental rights and didn’t intend to be a father. Shawnee County District Judge Mary Mattivi rejected that claim, saying the parties didn’t involve a licensed physician in the artificial insemination process and thus Marotta didn’t qualify as a sperm donor, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported.
