First Lady Valerie Trierweiler ´to

France´s First Lady Valerie Trierweiler was yesterday facing the prospect of becoming the first in history to be kicked out of the Elysee Palace. It follows humiliating revelations that her partner, President Francois Hollande, has ‘fallen in love’ with a woman almost 20 years his junior. Mr Hollande’s relationship with actress Julie Gayet, 41, was exposed by a series of pictures in French Closer magazine which show him travelling to see her on a moped. But beyond a new romance, opponents claim the scandal exposes publicly funded deceit, security lapses, and the huge cost of a first lady who no

The old goat.

Treirweiler is 48; Gayet is 41. Hollande is an aged-looking 61.

Most would think he was too old for both of them. And anyone who believes actress Gayet is in love with him is smoking something funny. Aging actress----->career enhancement----->powerful (for now) politician.

Good grief! Look at Hollande´s photo! Sad Sack.

FTA:

Photographers from French Closer, who watched a Paris flat a few hundred yards from the Elysee for several days, said Mr Hollande regularly met his lover there, wearing a crash helmet when entering and leaving the building in a weak attempt at disguise.

Crash helmet? How appropriate.

One doesn´t have to be French to be an aging nutcase.

The most shocking thing about this story is that a mistress is openly being called the First Lady of France and there is actually a discussion about whether she should continue to receive elaborate perks at tax payer expense now that she has been kicked to the curb in favor of a younger mistress.

That´s transparency.

From an article elsewhere (the expat writer lives in France):

French privacy laws are protective and strict. News outlets that discuss what is considered inappropriate comments about one´s life -- no matter how public that person may be -- can face serious fines.

The original story was printed in the Italian owned magazine, Closer, whose editors sent out a bevy of photographers near an apartment where the alleged trysts transpired......

The real story here is that the report ever surfaced. Perhaps, something the French fear, the press in this country is becoming more like the "Anglo-Saxons" who pillar politicians for their dalliances. The long histoire of former president, Francois Mitterrand, with his mistress Anne Pingeot, and the daughter they had together was well-known by the press and beyond. But again, the public didn´t seem to be concerned by the fact their taxes paid for the housing and protection of his "second family."

Newark — In one of the largest Superfund cleanups ever proposed, federal officials yesterday called for a bank-to-bank dredging of the Passaic River that would remove more than 4 million cubic yards of toxic sediment from the river bottom — enough to fill up MetLife Stadium twice. The $1.7 billion cleanup, under study for 25 years, would target the lower eight miles of the highly polluted waterway, from Belleville to Newark, which remains heavily contaminated with high concentrations of dioxin, PCBs and other contaminants left behind by more than a century of industrial activity. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
