Big Business Doubles Down
on GOP Civil War
With Tea Party

Bloomberg News, by Brian Wingfield and Julie Bykowicz

Original Article

Posted By:mikkins2, 1/10/2014 6:14:45 PM

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce plans aggressive efforts to back “pro-business” candidates, some of whom will face Tea Party opponents in Republican primary elections this year, Tom Donohue, the group’s president, said today. The U.S. Chamber, the nation’s largest business-lobbying group and a traditional supporter of Republicans, has in recent years squared off against lawmakers aligned with the Tea Party on issues including trade, U.S. Export-Import Bank reauthorization and the federal budget. “In 2014, the chamber will work to protect and expand a pro-business majority in the House and advance our position and our influence in the Senate,” Donohue said

Comments:
I wonder if Tom Donohue and the Chamber of Commerce have already taken money from George Soros. Then I start to wonder why the Republican Establishment has sat on its hands allowing the I.R.S. to harass Tea Party organizations.

Then again, I also wonder why so many Republicans are still Republicans.

Got Tea?

What "Big Business" is saying is that they want cheaper labor and have no problem who is in charge as long as they get it.

As I read the last few days, it is truly becoming obvious the GOP is morphing into the Democrat party. We are being led there by the leadership at all levels of elected leadership. We are now pretty much one party in America with two heads. The outright boldness with which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce making no bones about their agenda just proves it. The Republicans cannot win without the conservative base and we just won´t go along with this any longer.

And these guys are supposed to be the movers and shakers? The wizards of smart? The entrepreneurs? This is just more of the end justifies the means philosophy and that has been killing us for decades. What happened to honor, integrity and ethics? Worshipping at the altar of the bottom line erodes the soul. I appreciate a profit as much as the next person, but selling American workers down the river for cheap labor seems to me a bridge too far.

More proof that the interests of Wall Street often conflict with those of Main Street. Big business and its money controls the GOP. Labor unions and their money control the Democratic Party. That is why Main Street with its numbers needs a party of its own.

Can it compete with the big money?

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce (Where Commerce is the same as Crony Capitalism)has a great deal of money invested in the best politicians money can buy. It is natural and prudent for them to want mindlessly to protect their investment.

To mindlessly forget their Principles is another one matter.

To mindlessly beat up on the "Tea Party" is screechingly stupid!

The continuing battle between the establishment and antiestablishment forces within the Grand Old Party is getting bitter. Scott Reed, a chief political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, quips that the antiestablishment Club for Growth has morphed into the “Club for Dopes.” Club for Growth spokesman Barney Keller charges that the head of a Washington-based pro-incumbent political group, the Main Street Republican Partnership, “may have eaten a lot paint chips as a kid.” Maybe that is what happens in any family feud. Sen. That kind of Republican party, he writes “could not only unify and excite conservatives, but appeal to hardworking families in the purple and blue communities that President [Barack] Obama’s special-interest favoritism is leaving behind.” Mr. Lee is scheduled to continue the rollout with television appearances, town halls, a speech at the Heritage Foundation on April 30, and several pieces of legislation. Will the real Republican Establishment please stand up? In the four years since the Supreme Court struck down fundraising regulations that effectively gave the Democratic and Republican parties a monopoly on large-scale political activity, a collection of Tea Party-affiliated organizations has arisen in Washington that competes with the GOP for campaign contributors, money and influence -- and over what legislation to push and which candidates to nominate.
