Chamber of Commerce throws down
the gauntlet to Tea Party

American Thinker, by Rick Moran

Original Article

Posted By:mikkins2, 1/10/2014 4:16:08 AM

Tom Donohue, president and CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce, gave his annual "State of American Business" speech and didn´t pull any punches toward the Tea Party. Claiming he wasn´t "attacking" the Tea Party, going so far as claiming that they agree with many Tea Party positions, Donohue nevertheless made it clear which side of the GOP civil war he´s on.{SNIP}The die is cast, the Rubicon has been crossed - there´s no going back now. Supporting incumbents is one thing. But challenging Amash, a Ron/Rand Paulite and Tea Party favorite steps over the line.

Comments:
You are witnessing the moment when the Republican Establishment decided to commit political suicide. The Chamber of Commerce is buying the rope that will be used. Apparently also ready to kick the chair out from under its feet as well. What a pal!

Got Tea?

The Chamber just reinforced the need to vote for someone who believes in the principles of the Tea Party (which really isn´t a party).

“It´s a stupid move and could cost the GOP on election day.”

They’re not known as “the stupid party” for nuthin’. It’s a well earned reputation.

BTW: Anybody else notice the Tea Party is now being dissed by the GEICO gecko? I’m surprised an insurance company would risk offending customers with an overtly political message, but it’s about what you can expect from a firm that used to be known as Government Employee Insurance Co.

Any action by the Chamber or other groups that will split the Republican Party and cause the creation of a new conservative party third party will ensure that the Republican Party will no longer be able to win future national elections. They could not do more to help the liberal Democrats. The Chamber is a big business oriented entity that does not have the votes to swing elections to the Republicans anymore, especially since they are now involved in a major effort to essentially flood the legal US job market with cheap foreign labor through a massive amnesty for illegal aliens, and a big expansion of immigration that is estimated to bring 30 million or so new foreign workers into the USA in the next decade. A policy like that is bound to adversely effect American workers in a big way as employers move to hire newly legalized foreign workers over higher cost Americans workers. There is only one reason why the Chamber and others are embarking on such an ill conceived open borders policy, to keep American wages as low as possible. Supporting such an in-sourcing of foreign labor policy is not going to win the Republicans the votes of very many American workers that´s for sure.

FTA: "We probably now have a good half-dozen places that we are looking at in open seats and primaries where people are looking to challenge particularly long-serving and smart-voting people."

I bristle these days when I hear the word
"smart" . It was an adjective put in wide use by the Clintons, overused by Kerry and used by Obama in nearly every speech. This poll-tested word is intended to infer that any conservative policy position is dismissed as ´stupid´. What scares me is that this GOP mouthpiece casually chose it.

Our Tea Party took on the Establishment Republicans, Democrat interest groups and 46 Chambers of Congress aligned against us. It was about electing three of nine Trustees to a Community College Board as well as opposing a $500 Million Bond to build more buildings when enrollment is flat, current buildings are underutilized (60%) more and more students are taking classes online. We took all three seats and defeated the Bond. In a District where we could only campaign in half of it because of finances, we got 57 % of the vote. Where we campaigned, we got 73% of the vote.

If Mr. Donohue would like to discuss eliminating Crony Capitalism and really close the Borders first, we will be happy to talk, but, until then, we are willing to repeat this exercise on a regular basis.

GEICO Insurance is owned by Obama´s good pal, Warren Buffet.

The Chamber has committed suicide for sure. Many businesses, small to medium, will quit.

Almost any institution in this country today eventually becomes run by liberals. Witness the very conservative Walter Annenberg, who created his Foundation for improving public education, which eventually hired the likes of communist terrorist Bill Ayers and Obama.

Bingo #10!

That is exactly what they are doing. They are trying to define who is considered "smart" and therefor who is "dumb" as well.

Lets be realistic here folks. The Chamber of Commerce has told Boehner that they want amnesty passed this year. Boehner has told them that if he is to get enough Republicans to sign on, they need a sign that they will be protected when the eventual Tea party challenger comes forward for their seat. That is what all this saber rattling is about. The Chamber of Commerce along with other Republican Establishment backers is signaling that they will spend money to protect the Republicans who pass immigration reform.

Its all about the money to be made by both the Republican Establishment and Big Business.
It no more complicated then that.

Got Tea?

By now most people are familiar with the potentially deadly situation emerging at the Bundy ranch in Nevada. Right now, the back-story is not nearly as important as the immediate necessity to de-escalate this life-and liberty threatening situation, although it does play an important role and must be addressed. The fact that this situation could have been pulled from the script of the 1974 movie Chinatown or any of the Godfather movies is well known and must be exposed, but not before immediate action is taken to assure the preservation of life and liberty. Two of Nevada’s top elected leaders are riding to the rescue of a rancher whose decades-long range war with the federal government has reached a boiling point in recent days. The federal Bureau of Land Management has surrounded the Clark County ranch of Cliven Bundy with armed officers, helicopters and four-wheel drive vehicles. Last week, they began seizing cattle found grazing on adjacent federal lands in violation of a law meant to protect an endangered desert tortoise. “No cow justifies the atmosphere of intimidation which currently exists nor the limitation of constitutional rights that are sacred to all Nevadans.”

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. The continuing battle between the establishment and antiestablishment forces within the Grand Old Party is getting bitter. Scott Reed, a chief political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, quips that the antiestablishment Club for Growth has morphed into the “Club for Dopes.” Club for Growth spokesman Barney Keller charges that the head of a Washington-based pro-incumbent political group, the Main Street Republican Partnership, “may have eaten a lot paint chips as a kid.” Maybe that is what happens in any family feud. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
