New York Times, by Marc Santora & William K. Rashbaum

Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey apologized to the people of New Jersey on Thursday, saying that he was “embarrassed and humiliated” by revelations that one of his top aides and close associates ordered lane closings on the George Washington Bridge to deliberately snarl traffic as an act of political vengeance. He announced that he would fire that aide, Bridget Anne Kelly, a deputy chief of staff, who he called “stupid” and “deceitful” in a news conference. The revelations became public one day before, when a series of emails and texts, showing members of his administration and others were deeply

Hmmmm, stopping traffic is a disqualifier, but incompetently getting four of yours murdered, two of your missions pillaged & plundered and dozens of others wounded is a non-starter. Strange political math going on here.

I watched part of the news conference. The Governor did a magnificent job. This shows what a real leader does as opposed to the 24 carat loser in the white house. Turned it off after listening to some of the inane and ridiculous questions from the enemedia. The enemedia are desperately trying to pin this on the Governor. If this was Zippy the Wonder Dummy or some other democrat they would be asking such hard hitting questions as ´What is your favorite color?´ and ´Did you have a good time on vacation?´

Where are the probes of:

Attorney General Eric Holder has infuriated U.S. Assistant Attorneys by not waiting for the U.S. Sentencing Commission to recommend reductions of sentencing guidelines for drug offenders and pushing them to prosecute based on his new guidelines. “We do not join with others who regard our federal justice system as ‘broken’ or in need of major reconstruction,” the National Association of U.S. Assistant Attorneys said in a letter to Mr. Holder in January. “Instead we consider the current federal mandatory minimum sentence framework well constructed and worth preserving.” In August, Mr. Holder unveiled his “Smart on Crime” initiative, seeking to “reserve

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally
