Chamber of Commerce

Breitbart´s Big Government, by Tony Lee

On Wednesday, Tom Donohue, the President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, vowed to make the Tea Party "feel some heat" in 2014 in order to get amnesty legislation passed. In his "State of American Business" address, Donohue, without directly naming it, said that the Tea Party would face a "significant response" from the Chamber in 2014. He said "early involvement in the primaries is all about where we are going" and emphasized the group will try to make an impact "right from the beginning" in at least ten primary contests. As Breitbart News reported, the Chamber is

Naturally; fascists everywhere despise limited government. Why compete in the marketplace when you can rig the laws to favor established companies, receive special tax breaks and subsidies, and the like?

Rush has an interesting take on this - believing the intention is to keep comprehensive immigration under the radar until after the election - let´s make darn sure it stays out there for every one to understand. The republican hierarchy is furiously recruiting anyone and anything to blacken TEA people -why don´t they just declare themselves democrats while they are at it?

I wish someone would explain what is going on here. Why is the Chamber pro-amnesty? Business and profits, obviously - but how does that work exactly? Is their stake on the labor or the consumption side or both? If American citizens are out of work and cannot find jobs, why does the Chamber want more non-Americans to become Americans? Wouldn´t that just add to current unemployment? Or does business want more consumers for products and services? But illegal aliens are already here and consuming, so that doesn´t make sense either.

There is a simple explanation for this, I am quite certain. I just don´t know why the Chamber has a stake in the issue that sets it at odds with the majority of other Americans.

I´ve not been an active Tea Party member even though I identify with their views. That may change soon.

I only wish the Tea Party was a party so I could stop calling myself a Republican. Republicans like me are starting to feel, at least politically, like homeless people must feel... no one cares, nowhere to go.

Never thought I could identify with homeless people but McConnell, Boehner, and the Pubbie establishment have managed it.

For those living under large rocks, the GOP
has absolutely nothing to do w/principled conservatism and never did!!! It was liberal progressive and secular since its founding in 1856. Through the Gilded Age it was the party of government; morphing into the party of Wall Street and corporate interests under Taft in 1908. The K Street hustlers and the CofC are an integral part of the GOP DC Establishment. That this is news to posters is beyond embarrassing and testament to the cold reality that low info voters are alive, plentiful and well in the calcified GOP.

All the Chamber cares about on the immigration reform or amnesty issue is to ensure that the legal US labor market is flooded with cheap foreign labor to keep US wages as low as possible. Such a policy is bound displace a huge number of American workers, especially minority workers, as employers move to hire newly legalized much lower wage earning foreign workers over higher paid American workers who are attempting to maintain their customary American standard of living. It is the intention of the Chamber that tens of millions of newly legalized foreign workers be granted complete access to the legal US labor market and be able to compete against American workers for every scarce job out there among all professions and trades and not just the low paying jobs that amnesty supports have been saying that American workers no longer want to do. The Democrats have a huge political conflict of interest on this issue because historically about 85% of past legalized aliens who have attained US voting rights have become Democrat voters.

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly.
