Vermont plots course for
single-payer healthcare

FoxNews, by Barnini Chakraborty

Original Article

WASHINGTON – While all eyes are on the ObamaCare rollout, an ambitious health care experiment is going forward in Vermont that would create a government-run alternative know as a "single-payer" system -- and it´s starting to attract more attention from liberals frustrated with the Affordable Care Act´s implementation. Democrats´ faith in ObamaCare has been shaken by the technical failures of the federal and state insurance exchanges as well as, in some cases, premium increases. In Vermont, however, they see a potential first step toward the kind of national government-run health care system some have advocated for years.

Comments:
We need to be aware of this. If the Dems can claim it works - it will spread to other states, soon.

Vermont´s leftists are confident that the out-of-state owners of ski & lake homes will gladly pay for their socialist policies that buy the votes of locals. So far, these Dems have been correct about these non-voting golden geese.

Vermont Socialists can shove off huge parts of their costs on the other 49 States through Medicare and pretend that it works. This must be nailed at the source.

FTA:

The exchange, Green Mountain Care, will set reimbursement rates for health care providers and streamline administration into a single, unified system.

The savings, he said in a 2011 Health Affairs article, would come from tort reform for malpractice suits, better governance and lower administrative expenses.

In short, the same price fixing tried by Congress in 1997 that requires a doctor-fix each year to keep doctors seeing Medicare and Medicaid patients. Plus limiting your ability to sue the state for mistakes in treatment. Communists are always certain the results be better because they are sooo much more clever than the last communists who tried the same tricks.

Just might work in Vermont, given its tiny population and the fact that it hardly is a destination for illegals, as compared to CA, AZ, NY.
But that doesn´t mean it will work in the other 49 states.

The stupid expert from Harvard says working Vermonters will pay for it with only a doubling of their payroll taxes.
So payroll taxes at 30%, then state and federal taxes, local property taxes, heating oil, high sales tax...
Hey, when do individuals get to work for themselves? Vermont liberals don´t know and don´t care to find out. Pass it first.

ObamaCare was designed to get Americans off their health plans, plant the expectation that the feds provide health insurance, and destroy the existing infrastructure of private health insurance.

ObamaCare is working precisely as intended.

Overshadowed by the bungled debut of Obamacare and congressional gridlock, most Americans in a new poll dubbed 2013 a bad year that will be quickly forgotten. For more than four-in-10, the perils of 2013 hit home hard.“Put simply, most Americans are happy to see 2013 go,” said the latest Economist/YouGov Poll.— 54 percent called 2013 a “bad year” for the world. Another 15 percent called it a “very bad year,” with just 3 percent calling it a “very good year” and 29 percent a “good year.”— Only 13 percent of Republicans say 2013 has been a good year for the world. Obamacare is a failure. “There are almost no issues where a majority of Americans have seen improvement.

The unmanned Chang'e 3 lander, named after a mythical Chinese goddess of the moon, touched down on Earth’s nearest neighbor following a 12-minute landing process. The probe carried a six-wheeled moon rover called ‘‘Yutu,’’ or ‘‘Jade Rabbit,’’ the goddess’ pet. After landing Saturday evening on a fairly flat, Earth-facing part of the moon, the rover was slated to separate from the Chang'e eight hours later and embark on a three-month scientific exploration.

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
