Obama adviser Gene Sperling pushes

Top White House economic adviser Gene Sperling took to the Sunday morning talk shows to push for Congress to extend emergency unemployment benefits ahead of a key Senate vote Monday. Sperling, the director of President Obama´s National Economic Council, noted that "tomorrow is the day that 1.3 million Americans go to their mailbox and find that the check that they´d been relying on to put food on their table, put gas in their cars to look for a new job, will not be there" in an appearance on NBC´s Meet the Press. Since the policies of the administration are causing the unemployment, take offsets out of the Executive Branch’s spending.

Obama´s Economic team asserted that if we passed the nearly $1 trillion stimulus package in early 2009 that the unemployment rate would be 5.0% in December 2013 versus 7.0% actual*. These wizards of shovel ready also noted that without the stimulus, the rate would still be 5.0% by this past Christmas as the economy healed on its own. What happened to cause this 40% error? Could it be Obama and his socialist policies?

* - the 7.0% rate is tragic since it was achieved by having Americans drop out of the workforce. There are currently 1.2 million fewer Americans working than when Obama took office while we added 13 million more potential workers during the same period.

With the many Millions of Dollars the 0bamas have spent on their expensive, lavish, and luxurious vacations, we could fund unemployment benefits for years. Michelle is still there spending Millions, because she did not want to come home with 0bama.

Birds don´t rely on a tree branch and worry about it failing. The rely on their wings to fly. These 1.3 million flightless birds can go to a food distribution center, then take a bus to the state employment office and learn to fly on their own. I have no pity or sympathy at all Gene. We need to reflect on several aspects of prolonging unemployment compensation.

1) The effect of pronounced economic downturn in a specific region.

2) When months become years extending UC really makes it another form of welfare. But multiple welfare programs already exist. Why create another to sustain those with little income and job prospects?

3) Why not get the states out of their UC function if the feds fund it anyway the state plans are broke?

4) Seemingly endless UC nurtures a cruel illusion; that certain industries and jobs will return. It just ain´t so.

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
