GOP Targets Obamacare
Security Risks

Washington Examiner, by Susan Crabtree

Original Article

House Republicans will begin the new year by teeing up another shot at Obamacare -- this time taking aim at the risks the online enrollment process poses to Americans´ personal privacy. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., sent a memo to colleagues Thursday informing them of his plans to schedule a vote when Congress returns next week on a bill that would require the government to notify individuals if their personal information has been compromised on healthcare.gov or in the process of sharing it with other government agencies or insurance companies.

Mild sniping from the sidelines after the enrollment deadline has passed. Best they can muster, apparently.

I was at the "rolling" House hearing in Richardson, TX recently. Unless the "navigators," with no security [bonded] in who they are [other than disciples of Common Core, etc.] or the home computers they may use, there will be NO security. 0bamaCare is like the Titanic after the icegerg cut through its side below the waterline. That is, the dRATS KNOW that it is doomed, but we must stop the chaos and information they can plunder before the GOP or SCOTUS sink it for good.

GOP ramps up planning to replace
Obamacare as Senate prospects rise
Washington Examiner, by David M. Drucker    Original Article
Posted By: grace52- 3/28/2014 10:31:05 AM     Post Reply
The Republican Party´s rising Senate prospects are forcing House Republicans to craft a health care agenda that could function as a feasible legislative blueprint for overhauling Obamacare in January 2015. The Republican-controlled House has approved legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act and reform aspects of the law several times, only to see the bills die in a Democratic-led Senate that is committed to preserving the law. That dynamic would change if Republicans win six Democratic-held seats and assume control of the Senate in November, as appears increasingly possible.

Evangelical leader shows how

In 2008, both Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain supported defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. In 2012, only Republican Mitt Romney supported traditional marriage, Obama having announced a change of heart six months before the election. What about 2016? It´s impossible to imagine a Democratic candidate not supporting the redefinition of marriage. As for Republicans, it´s hard to see a gay-marriage-supporting candidate make it through the GOP primaries.

More than half of top posts in

Eighteen of the 32 top management jobs in the federal agency that is "ground zero" for running Obamacare are either vacant or filled on an acting basis. The agency is the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight. Its problems start at the top. Gary Cohen´s last day as CCIIO´s deputy administrator after less than two years on the job will be March 31, the latest departure from the agency. Including Cohen´s position, more than half of the most important jobs in CCIIO are either vacant or held by caretaking “acting directors.”

One of the nation´s leading Democratic pollsters and strategists is urging embattled House and Senate incumbents to abandon their defense of Obamacare and instead pledge to “fix it.” Celinda Lake, whose firm Lake Research Partners provided the Democratic analysis of the new George Washington University Battleground Poll released Tuesday morning, summed up her advice to Democrats when it comes to Obamacare: “Don´t defend it.” In unveiling the poll, she said that the new Democratic strategy should be for candidates to promise to fix the troubled system while pledging to help keep Americans out of the claws of greedy insurance firms.

Job security declining for people in unions

Economist Allison Schrager points out a little-noticed shift in the workforce that explains part of the membership problem Big Labor is facing: Union members are now experiencing declining job security. This is notable because job security is a key benefit to joining a union in the first place. Unions are supposed to pressure companies to preserve positions, even in hard times. But even union-dominated industries have seen mass layoffs in recent decades. Also, many of the other benefits that unions provide, like pensions, are only available to people who remain at their jobs for set periods.

There is a maxim that one person´s freedom ends at another person´s nose. That´s not quite how it works in the academic world when the swinger is the liberal powers-that-be and the swingee is a conservative professor. The Alliance Defending Freedom and the American Center for Law and Justice won a significant victory in a North Carolina court this week for restoring the maxim´s equal application on campus.

It would be ironic if Hillary Clinton had a second presidential campaign torpedoed because of another politician´s foreign policy. People don´t much remember it now, but before Hope ´n´ Change Mania swept the country, Sen. Barack Obama shot to the lead in Iowa based almost entirely on drawing contrasts with Sen. Hillary Clinton concerning Iraq. Go re-read the speech he gave at Iowa´s Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Des Moines, shortly before he took off in the polls in November of 2007. With New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stalled by the “Bridgegate” affair, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has become the establishment´s candidate and top pick to win the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, according to a new analysis of the race. “We now consider Bush the leader of the field if he decides to run,” said the influential “Crystal Ball” from the University of Virginia´s Center for Politics. “In recent months, we’ve noticed an unmistakable and widespread desire among some of the Republicans we talk to, particularly ones who would be classified as members of the establishment on and off Capitol Hill, for a third Bush nominee in less than three decades.

Nuclear option fallout

When Senate Democrats executed the so-called nuclear option last year and changed their chamber´s rules for votes on President Obama´s nominees, administration officials breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the nominees were qualified, they thought Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., could push them through a deeply divided Senate with a simple majority, not the 60-vote threshold previously required to end debate and proceed to a final up-or-down vote. The Senate Democratic caucus has 55 members so there appeared to be little Republicans could do to prevent the chamber from rubber-stamping Obama´s picks.

It is reminiscent of the quandary faced by General Maurice Gamelin on the evening of May 15, 1940. Suddenly he realized that German panzer troops had broken through the supposedly impassable Ardennes. French troops to the north were cut off and rendered useless, troops to the south were falling back in disarray on all sides and no reserves were available between the front and Paris. “Yes,” he told the prime minister, “it means the destruction of the French Army.” Now, analogies between military history and politics are never exact, and no one in American politics remotely resembles the Nazis.

Americans buying health insurance outside the new Obamacare exchanges are being forced to swallow premiums up to 56 percent higher than before the health law took effect because insurers have jumped the cost to cover all the added features of the new Affordable Care Act. According to a cost report from eHealthInsurance, a nationwide online private insurance exchange, families are paying an average of $663 a month and singles $274 a month, far more than before Obamacare kicked in. What´s more, to save money, most buyers are choosing the lowest level of coverage, the so-called "bronze" plans.

Obamacare, the plan purportedly created to provide health coverage for the uninsured, has enrolled just 1.7% of America´s 48.6 million uninsured. News of the disastrous numbers comes as nervous Democrats and President Barack Obama, ahead of the November midterm elections, did their best on Monday´s enrollment deadline to put a positive spin on the deeply unpopular Obamacare program. (Snip) The White House now claims an Obamacare enrollment figure of six million people. However, according to The New York Times, at least 20% of those never paid their premiums to activate coverage, leaving them uninsured.

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or

A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. They say it contains enzymes known as HMGF (hydroxy methyl glutaryl flavonones) which can attack proteins in the body known to cause heart disease. Spanish historians say they have discovered what Monty Python could not – the Holy Grail, the legendary cup Jesus supposedly drank from at the Last Supper. The Spaniards – Margarita Torres and José Ortega del Río – believe the 2,000-year-old vessel is in a church in León in northern Spain. The pair spent three years studying the history of the chalice and last week published a book, “The Kings of the Grail,” making their case. The onyx chalice, they explained, was concealed within another antique vessel known as the Chalice of Doña Urruca, which is located in León’s basilica of
