Boehner Won’t Split
GOP on Immigration

Commentary Magazine, by Jonathan S. Tobin

Original Article

The mainstream media is still reeling from House Speaker John Boehner’s telling off Heritage Action and other right-wing groups that were attempting to obstruct Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget deal last month. Having pegged Boehner as a Tea Party hostage in the wake of the disastrous government shutdown that he failed to stop, the Speaker’s willingness to talk back to conservative activists has led to expectations that the Ryan budget won’t be the last instance in which the GOP establishment gives the back of its hand to the right. Thus, Boehner’s hiring of Rebecca Talent, a longtime immigration adviser to John McCain

Pure tripe, this article casts those who believe in the rule of law as unreasonable reactionaries, and those who wish to reward those who break the rules on the side of reason. Conservatives are about to get rolled.

I got a different impression, #1. Apparently, Boehner intends to target some minor pieces of the senate bill that will not arouse the DeMint wing. Who can argue with increasing border security?

#2

Increasing boarder security should be priority #1. Buying larger buckets to bail out a sinking ship before plugging the gaping hole in the hull is a bad idea.

The Republican Establishment could make this issue go away, even gain support, if they announced that they will not consider any immigration reform until a secure boarder is established. The problem is that big business doesn´t want to wait that long and securing their political contributions are the Establishments priority.

Every taxpayer knows that without doing this taxpayer money is going to be spent assimilating, housing, feeding, training, and pandering to an unending stream of people who are going to be consuming far more taxpayer funds than they will ever put back into the system.

# 2 The "plan" is for the House to pass a border security bill which will give them cover, then they go to conference with the Senate, what emerges will look like the Senate bill. The house will then say they tried but will vote for the senate crap sandwich to get the issue behind them.

#2 nailed it. I have watched this sort of maneuver by Republicans play out time after time. This is how the RINOs work. They first vote what TEA people want then, in resolution committee, they cave to the democrats.

The time to object is now; not "when the facts are in" because you will never know when the facts are in. Only after the law has passed will you know what is in it.

The whole thing smells fishy to me. So, let´s cut the carp, #5: Do you believe that Boehner and McConnell will oppose any bill that legitimates the presence of people who entered this country illegally? Because if they support any such bill, they are giving the left what it wants--amnesty for illegals. If they want that, I don´t want them. We don´t need to amnesty illegals to get increased border security. "Increased border security" is how the dishonest sell "immigration reform" to the credulous. But you knew that already....

They have passed border security laws before and then never enforced them. They never intended to. The one I am thinking of had the smell of McCain all over it.
A friend was deployed to the border with his guard unit. All they were allowed to do was work on border patrol trucks and do paperwork. Even that ended when the cameras went away.
These people are beneath contempt and absolutely cannot be trusted.

One thing is for sure if the Republicans facilitate any form of liberal Democrat amnesty and expansion of immigration that is bound to hand the Democrats tens of millions of new foreign born voters in the years ahead they will be committing long term political suicide.

Once an amnesty is passed Obama will take full credit for it, remember when the SEALS got Osama. After that not too many Hispanics who customarily vote for the liberal Democrats are going to flip and start voting for the Republicans. why should they?

After a lengthy study of the plans for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, the U.S. State Department issued an 11-volume report back in January confirming what most experts had already concluded long before then: the vital project would not damage the environment or increase the rate of carbon pollution. But liberal activists weren’t happy and have used the 90-day automatic review process that followed that report to furiously lobby the administration to stop the construction of the 1,700-mile pipeline from Alberta to the Gulf Coast refineries. The key player in that effort was Tom Steyer, the billionaire environmental

Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens supports gutting the Second Amendment in order to remove any limit on government infringements on the right of self-defense. In his new book Six Amendments: How and Why We Should Change the Constitution, Stevens — who generally favored maximum government power during his 35-year tenure on the high court — proposes, among other things, changing the language of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution so that the amendment would read, “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms [when serving in the militia] shall not be infringed.” Stevens acknowledged in

With little fanfare, Vermont is preparing to become the first state to implement a single-payer, government-run health-care system. The Vermont plan, if implemented, would abolish private health insurance in the state and replace it with a taxpayer-funded system under which the state government directly pays doctors and hospitals. Of course the state is having a bit of trouble figuring out how to pay for the program’s estimated $2 billion price tag, considering that the entire state government’s operating budget is currently just $2.7 billion. Currently under consideration is an increase in the state sales tax from 6.9% to 29%. At
