RUSH: Every cable news network is going wall-to-wall with the blizzard that´s gonna hit Chicago and the Northeast -- Boston and New York -- and they´re all talking about record cold temperatures, record amounts of snowfall for this date and for this time of year. "Record cold! Record cold!" Not one of them -- not one! Maybe Fox is, but it´s even rare there. Hardly any of them are contrasting it to all of the news they have broadcast about global warming, about all of the advocacy they at cable news networks have engaged in for global warming. And why?

NSA seeks to build quantum computer
that could crack most types of encryption
Washington Post, by Steven Rich and Barton Gellman    Original Article

In room-size metal boxes, secure against electromagnetic leaks, the National Security Agency is racing to build a computer that could break nearly every kind of encryption used to protect banking, medical, business and government records around the world. According to documents provided by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, the effort to build “a cryptologically useful quantum computer” — a machine exponentially faster than classical computers — is part of a $79.7 million research program titled, “Penetrating Hard Targets.” Much of the work is hosted under classified contracts at a laboratory in College Park. The development of a quantum computer has

As the planet marked its fourth hottest year on record, a study published in the journal Nature found increasing levels of carbon dioxide will lead to thinner ocean clouds and reduce their cooling impact, causing temperature rises of at least 5.6F (3C) over the course of the century. The team of scientists said the findings show some climate models have been too “optimistic” and previous estimates of a minimum temperature rise of only 2.7F (1.5C) could now be discounted. The optimistic models did not properly assess the impact of water evaporation, which sometimes rises only a short distance into the atmosphere

Times Benghazi exposes strange embed-fellows

When The New York Times first published its Dec. 28 story “A Deadly Mix in Benghazi” by top national security and foreign affairs reporter David D. Kirkpatrick, it seemed just another Christmas present for President Barack Obama and his Times-anointed successor Hillary R. Clinton. Another twist is that Kirkpatrick and the Times are channeling St. Paul. Not only is the story a wonderful Christmas gift for Obama and Clinton, it also was published two days after Dec. 26, the Feast of St. Stephen. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, was stoned to death by a mob led by Paul, then a Pharisee counterinsurgency agent fighting Christians.

Smarting from the number of witnesses who came out to challenge The New York Times´ weekend article downplaying terrorist involvement in the 2012 Benghazi attack, NYT editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal "argued that those trying to claim Al Qaeda was involved" do so "for strictly political reasons." According to Fox News, Rosenthal said: For anyone wondering why it´s so important to Republicans that Al Qaeda orchestrated the attack--or how the Obama administration described the attack in its immediate aftermath--the answer is simple. The Republicans hope to tarnish Democrat candidates by making it seem as though Mr. Obama doesn´t take Al Qaeda seriously. Rosenthal

The New York Times had a reporter talking to attackers on the ground during the Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans in September of 2012, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, and may know the identity of some the murderers and perpetrators. David Kirkpatrick, the Times reporter who wrote the story that forced the paper´s Editorial page editor to defensively declare on Monday that it has not chosen to endorse Hillary Clinton for president in 2016, said that the paper had a reporter on the ground who was witnessing the attacks. That admission is even in Kirpatrick´s story, which, as Breitbart News reported,

Global warming advocates went to Antarctica to prove that Antarctic sea ice had disappeared because of man. They got stuck in ten foot thick sea ice they knew wasn´t there. The rescue ship was also stuck for a while, but it was eventually able to back out to safer water. This all happens in the heat of summer. A hundred years ago, the entire region, right up to the shore, was completely clear of ice. Oh, the irony! Given the embarrassment of such "political" scientists, it is worth examining the issue: does man have a major impact on the climate? How does a physicist,

Despite being smack in the middle of a 17-day vacation enjoying the tropical sun of Hawaii, President Obama looked decidedly glum as he stopped to pick up a local ice treat today. Wearing shades and a forlorn expression, the president may have been reflecting on a tumultuous 2013 - during which the disastrous roll-out of Obamacare, the furore over the NSA´s spying and the government shutdown all combined to leave the commander-in-chief facing tanking numbers in the polls. Indeed, Obama´s job approval and personal favorability ratings are near the lowest point of his presidency, with increasing numbers of Americans saying

Murdering nascent life is one thing, and perhaps we as a Conservative force cannot fully cauterize this abomination. But we can make it rare. Moreover, we can also make it so that taxpayers will not have to fund this horror from public redistributed funds. The command against murdering the innocent, whom God has wonderfully knit together and Who knows of every hair on their little heads, is not a negotiable item for either economic convenience, sex selection, or because one was either just too stoned or complacent to take responsibility for one´s actions. In an age that has elevated indiscriminate

There´s some irony in the fact that ObamaCare is hitting the wall at the precise moment that the incandescent bulb is being yanked off the market by government fiat -- but not as much as you might think. Their origins were quite distinct in time -- the bulb ban, buried within the "Energy Independence and Security Act," was passed in 2007, ObamaCare three years later. Both were subject to phased implementation, so as to not alarm the peasants. Bulbs have been phased out over a two-year period, 75 to 100 watt last year and the lesser wattages now. The Department of Justice reports that homosexuals are more likely (15.4% of them) than heterosexual men (10.8%) to be physically attacked by a domestic partner. But the DOJ also found that 39% of cohabiting lesbians say they have been raped, attacked, or stalked by a lover, as opposed to 21.7% of heterosexuals who live with men. This means a lesbian is about twice as likely as a hetero woman to be stalked or slapped around by a live-in lover. A hugely disproportionate number of male serial killers have been homosexual; figures run from 40 to 60% depending on definitions. Some

The essay, by Gloria J. The establishment GOP in Washington hates the Tea Party and the conservative wing of the party more than they do the Democrats. They will make very clear that instead of riding a conservative wave to a landslide victory in the 2014 midterms, they will do everything in their power to sabotage conservative and Tea Party candidates for their own personal benefit. Many establishment groups have been vocal about their strategy to attack principled conservatives. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed landmark legislation at the end of December which allowed the state’s undocumented high school students access to in-state tuition at all public colleges and universities. Under the new legislation, students who graduated from a New Jersey high school where they had been in attendance for at least three years are eligible to receive in-state and in-county rates at state colleges, universities, and community college campuses. “This is what compromise looks like,” the governor said of the bill, deemed the state’s “Dream Act.” Christie signed the original bill with a conditional veto,

Chicken has officially overtaken beef as the most popular meat product being consumed in the U.S. and the trend looks likely to continue in 2014. While the per capita consumption of beef has dropped from a peak of 90lbs per capita in the 1970s to 50 lbs in 2012, chicken consumption has gone the other way rising from under 20 lbs in 1960 to about 55 lbs in 2012. Americans now eat less beef then we did in 1955, but is the change a result of a healthier diet or because people are choosing the cheaper option? The answer is

(Video) It may have been the least productive year for Congress in history, at least in terms of passing laws – fewer than 60 of which made it through the House and Senate and were signed by President Barack Obama. Across the country, however, state lawmakers were busy getting more than 40,000 bills passed, ones that tackle everything from drones to food stamp benefits. In Illinois for example, teenagers will no longer get to use tanning beds without a doctor´s note. If you live in Delaware, visit the shark fin buffet while you can, a new law will make it illegal to own, sale, or distribute the controversial delicacy.

An air rescue for the passengers aboard a research ship that has been trapped in Antarctic ice for a week will wait for a break in the weather to start airlifting people from the vessel, Australian maritime authorities say. The 74 scientists, tourists and crew aboard the Akademik Shokalskiy, a Russian-crewed research vessel touring the Antarctic, have been trapped in ice since Christmas Eve. A helicopter on board a Chinese icebreaker, the Snow Dragon, will be used to collect the passengers once there is a break in the weather, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said in a Monday night conference

Put me down in the Roger Simon camp on this one: without wandering into Birther territory or the inconclusive musings of Jerome Corsi… who the heck is this guy, really? To put it bluntly: nobody knows nothin’ about the president of the United States, aka the leader of the free world. Other than what he’s told us about himself in Dreams from My Father — a book proven even by sympathetic biographers to be filled with fabrications (“a man one step removed from his own life,” according to David Maraniss)?

Plans to rescue 52 passengers trapped on the stricken Russian research ship Akademik Shokalskiy have been thrown into disarray after the Chinese ice-breaker Xue Long itself became stuck in pack ice, west of the Mertz Glacier. It is the second vessel to become trapped in the region in less than two weeks. I also agree with Hollywood liberals that NSA spying on millions of innocent Americans is a violation of our collective right to privacy. And I agree with feminist Camille Paglia that Hillary Clinton disqualified herself as a presidential candidate with her handling of Benghazi. Here’s why: The most important duty of the commander in chief is to keep Americans safe. Before the deadly Sept 11, 2012, attack resulting in the brutal murders of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens,
