Liberals find comfort level
in ´NPR of gun clubs´

SF Gate, by Carla Marinucci

Original Article

Marlene Hoeber is feisty, tattooed, transgender, a self-described feminist, a queer activist - and a crack shot with her favorite "toys," guns of just about every kind. One thing she´s not - and proud of it - is a member of the National Rifle Association. "We make ourselves a special place where we don´t have to hear about the ´Kenyan Muslim socialist´ in the White House," said Hoeber, a biotech equipment mechanic who says she's politically "somewhere around Emma Goldman," the turn-of-the-20th century anarchist.Instead, Hoeber - whose array of firearms includes an M1 carbine rifle from World War II and a custom-made .44-caliber pistol - and other left-leaning gun lovers have their own organization: the Liberal Gun Club.

Um, ok. But I ask Mister, umm, err Miss Hoeber one thing; who will protect your gun rights more?

I find it humorous that they love firearms, and the ability to shoot them, but hate the very people that will (without prejudice) fight for their right to do so.

Typical! Liberals are such closed-minded haters that they can´t stand to be around anyone who doesn´t think like them. Any shooting range or gun club I´ve ever been to would welcome anyone who supports the 2nd amendment. BUT, it´s good to see gun supporting libs do exist!

The most interesting comment in the article was made by the guy who said he wouldn´t wear an Obama t-shirt because Obama´s too conservative.

From the intensity of the article, she would protect her gun rights. I am a conservative but applaud Ms, Hoeber. She also holds down a job that is demanding and has a level of risk of life.

Although I would not agree with her politics, I did 2 tours of duty in Vietnam so she can exercise her rights.

The difference between her liberalism and Dur Leader, The One obstructs justice and commits high crimes and misdemeanors, and ignores the U.S. Constitution. Dur Obamba does not get a pass on these crimes, he will have to answer for all his evil.

I just don´t know why liberals heads don´t simply explode with the contradictory positions they seem to take without any thought. The ideas espoused by this so called "anarchist" liberal (who believes Obama is too conservative) are mutually exclusive. How can someone who believes that the government has no right to infringe the second amendment at the same time has the right to force religious people to accept abortion? That a hands off my guns government should be a social justice arganization.

I once thought the harsh NRA stance was to inflexible, but then I looked at the forces arrayed against it. I then understood that to give even an inch to that crowd simply makes giving the next inch easier, and the inch after that, and the inch after that.

Hoebar, Whatever you are don´t you understand that if you give government the power to control one aspect of your life they will simply use that to justify controlling another aspect of your life? You seem to idolize those south american revolutionaries who coveted your precious AK-47. What happened to them after the "revolution" was over? Do they still legally own those AK-47´s? Has the revolutionary rampages you seem to admire so much provided their families safety and stability? Are they happier now, richer, more free?

You cannot give the state unrestricted power in one area of your life and expect them to leave the other aspects untouched.

´The NRA is "a valuable organization" that has helped educate people about the safe use of guns, Hoeber said. But in recent years, its leaders "have attached themselves to reactionary politics," she said.´

[Sadly, Ms. Hoeber is quite mistaken about NRA politics. The NRA is a one-issue organization; they teach and lobby regarding the Second Amendment only. They take no stand on abortion, gay marriage, or any of a thousand other left and right wing issues.]

Frustration, anger on BART charter buses
San Francisco Gate, by Jill Tucker    Original Article

The charter buses that BART sent to nine East Bay stations early Friday offered free rides into downtown San Francisco. But for those who lined up to catch the coaches, the freebie was little consolation. Outside the station in West Oakland, commuters who began arriving at 5 a.m. said they were grumpy, tired and frustrated about the workers´ strike that shut down the region´s backbone train system.

St. Petersburg, Florida- In the first major ballot box test of 2014, the GOP won. Republican David Jolly edged out Democrat Alex Sink to win Tuesday´s special election in Florida´s 13th Congressional District. Jolly will fill out the term of his former boss, Republican Rep. Bill Young, who died in October. Young, first elected to Congress in 1970, was the longest-serving Republican in the House. With national Republicans framing the race as a referendum on Obamacare and a massive infusion of outside ad money to try to influence the outcome, pundits have looked to the Florida race as a bellwether

The vote was 233-181 in the Republican-led House as GOP lawmakers excoriated Obama for multiple changes to his 4-year-old health care law, steps he’s taken to allow young immigrants to remain in the United States and the administration’s resistance to defend the federal law banning gay marriage. How would you feel if a police officer you knew for 20 years told you that if an order were issued to confiscate your guns, he wouldn’t hesitate to “kick your door in”? This was the precisely the experience Connecticut resident, Navy veteran and former firefighter John Cinque had after commenting on his state’s 2013 violation of the Second Amendment. The law in question criminalizes the sale of magazines holding more than 10 rounds and also certain semi-automatic rifles, and mandates that all grandfathered weapons and magazines must be registered with the state. A report released Tuesday by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform asserted that ex-IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights. Lerner continues to stonewall California Rep. Darrell Issa’s committee, pleading the Fifth again in a divisive Oversight hearing last Wednesday convened to get to the bottom of the IRS’ improper targeting of conservative groups between 2010 and 2012. Oversight member Rep. Jim Jordan told The Daily Caller that the committee is “moving” toward holding Lerner in contempt of Congress to compel her to testify. “I think that’s where we’re moving,” Jordan said. “I think that’s where this is headed.”

During the all-night Senate speech about climate change, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said he drove to Hawaii as a teenager. "I just do want to say that right after I turned 17 and got my New Jersey driver´s license, one of the earliest places I drove was a trip — the only trip I have ever taken was to Hawaii," he said on the floor at about 3:00 a.m. "You didn´t drive to Hawaii," Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., said, correcting the freshman senator. Booker laughed weakly. "I did not drive to Hawaii," he admitted. "Thank you for that clarification, I

On Thursday, the president will direct the Labor Department to revamp its regulations to require overtime pay for several million additional fast-food managers, loan officers, computer technicians and others whom many businesses currently classify as “executive or professional” employees to avoid paying them overtime, according to White House officials briefed on the announcement.
