Not a ‘Bogus’ Benghazi Connection
Weekly Standard, by Thomas Joscelyn

Original Article

Posted By:JoElla Bee, 1/1/2014 10:45:23 PM

During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, New York Times reporter David Kirkpatrick was asked about the connections between Muhammad Jamal’s network and the Benghazi attack. Jamal, as I documented in a response to Kirkpatrick’s Times piece, was clearly operating as part of al Qaeda’s international network. And according to multiple reports, including in the New York Times itself, Jamal’s network is suspected of taking part in the Benghazi attack. This reporting contradicts Kirkpatrick’s thesis that only “local” Libyan actors were involved and that neither al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists, nor any other internationally connected terrorist groups, took part in the September

David Kirkpatrick responded, “So it’s…to my mind a bogus connection and also a tenuous connection and it is certainly not a connection that the New York Times has ever put its weight behind.”

Not put its weight behind? The NYT published articles reporting the connections to al Qaeda by Muhammad Jamal’s network and his suspected involvement in the Benghazi attack.

So, according to Mr. Kirkpatrick, we are not to believe published reports in the NYT because they are just putting words down without thought or investigation and their conclusions don’t really carry any weight until further investigated and fine-tuned.

Mr. Kirkpatrick’s comments are embarrassing, careless, and patronizing.

As most people know the Holocaust never really happened and we never landed on the moon. Next up we will be told that Benghazi never really happened and they will trot out the four people that are supposed to be dead and say it was all staged.
As ridiculous as that may sound, I´ll bet a good steak dinner that someone has considered that scenario. This is the Twilight Zone of politics!

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — A serial killer was put to death Thursday in Texas after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his lawyers’ demand that the state release information about where it gets its lethal injection drug. Tommy Lynn Sells, 49, was the first inmate to be injected with a dose of newly replenished pentobarbital that Texas prison officials obtained to replace an expired supply of the powerful sedative. Sells declined to give a statement. As the drug began flowing into his arms inside the death chamber in Huntsville, Sells took a few breaths, his eyes closed and he began to snore.

PITTSBURGH – A 5-year-old bows her head at lunch to say Grace before she eats may be considered cute and heartwarming by some. That was not the case for a student in Florida. The young girl was told by a school lunchroom supervisor that her actions were wrong. The girl’s father, Marcos Perez, is outraged to the point where he is considering homeschooling his child. Today, the Liberty Institute sent a letter to the school administrators demanding they stop allowing religious discrimination, which is in violation of not only state, but federal law. The school denies the incident.

ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith appeared on Arsenio Hall and gave a stirring commentary regarding L.A. Lakers basketball player Kobe Bryant’s unorthodox comments on why he wouldn’t want to wear a hoodie in honor of slain young black man Trayvon Martin. On the night of February 26, 2012, the 17-year-old Martin was killed by “white Hispanic” George Zimmerman after an altercation; after a jury acquitted Zimmerman in July of 2013 on manslaughter charges, it ignited a public outrage in many communities across the nation.

Hackers in London have invented a drone capable of stealing data, including passwords and location, straight from your smartphone. Codenamed “Snoopy,” the drone is deployed above busy city streets and searches out target phones with WiFi settings switched on, taking advantage of a common smartphone feature to continuously search for networks that a user has already approved and accessed. “Their phone will very noisily be shouting out the name of every network its ever connected to,” Snoopy developer Glenn Wilkinson said in a CNN report. “They’ll be shouting out, ‘Starbucks, are you there?… McDonald’s Free Wi-Fi, are you there?” Snoopy’s onboard

General Motors knew about a defect in its ignition switches eight years ago and changed the design of an internal part, but never told federal regulators or the drivers of its cars, according to evidence from a recent lawsuit filed by a Georgia woman who died in a 2010 GM car crash. In February the automaker recalled 1.6 million vehicles, saying their ignition switches could be accidentally turned from “run” to the “accessory” position while the car is being driven, shutting down the car’s power brakes, power steering and airbags. GM’s own figures have linked ignition problems to a dozen

Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. The nearly forgotten disease, which has in recent years afflicted thousands of Americans, left Brady´s tiny body swollen and unrecognizable. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. Brady´s burial came just four weeks after his first laugh — inspired by her version of I´m a Little Teapot — and two weeks after his family learned that he had

In Dearborn, Mich., home to over 40,000 Americans of Arab descent, some Muslim parents have complained about flyers handed out at public schools advertising an Easter egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church. The Muslim parents assert that the flyers – emblazoned with the word “Eggstravaganza!” – violate the separation of church and state widely ascribed to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, reports the Detroit Free Press. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. The “Eggstravaganza!” is scheduled to take place on April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church

When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. He even secretly taped some of those wiseguys using a briefcase that FBI technicians outfitted

LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us," he said. "Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."

Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing
