Glen Burnie robbery, Md. — An elderly man is recovering after he was assaulted and robbed while walking home from an Anne Arundel County McDonald´s Monday. The 89-year-old victim told police three teenage boys struck him in the head and knocked him to the ground near Cloverleaf and Four Leaf Clover drives in Glen Burnie. (Snip) "He was struck in the head. He subsequently fell to the ground. He was apparently able to make it to his residence, and that´s when he was transported for treatment to an area hospital for serious injuries. I mean, it was a serious assault,"

As soon our pharaoh blows back in from his latest vacay, he´ll scour every DC-area golf course in search of the perpetrators.

The apologists for the black thugs will say it
was not the knockout game because they robbed him. Seriously. That will be the line.

Neither snow nor rain can keep these couriers from the completion of their appointed rounds — even if they aren’t too swift. A Brooklyn woman got the surprise of her life this week when three letters mailed to her 45 years ago finally arrived. "I´ve been crying since Wednesday," Susan Heifetz told the Daily News. "I´m flipping out. This is not normal to get three cards from 1969." The red-letter week consisted of a message from a young man she briefly dated who was serving in Vietnam as well as two birthday cards for her 19th birthday: one from her

Indianapolis – A teen murder suspect didn’t have much to say about his role in the shooting death of a young father-to-be in court Thursday. When asked by FOX59 about the fatal shooting, Simeon Adams, 16, laughed and smiled before his initial hearing in the case Thursday. The teenager is charged as an adult in the murder of 24-year-old Nathan Trapuzzano, who was shot and killed on April 1. During the initial hearing, Adams refused to sign basic paperwork, insisting his attorney be present. He plans on being represented by a private attorney. Adams also faces charges in

Matthews, N.C. — Family Dollar plans to cut some jobs and close about 370 underperforming stores as it tries to reverse sagging sales and earnings. The discount store operator will also lower prices on about 1,000 basic items. Family Dollar did not provide details on how many jobs were expected to be eliminated. The chain said the store closings and job cuts should reduce annual operating expenses by $40 million to $45 million, starting with the fiscal third quarter. (Snip) The quarter that ended March 1 included the critical holiday shopping season, which Levine said was "challenged" because shoppers had tighter

A new review is questioning the effectiveness of two key drugs enlisted in the fight against influenza and in turn the investments by governments to stockpile the drugs in the event of a global flu outbreak. The antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir ) are commonly used to treat influenza in healthy adults and children. In the case of Tamiflu, the drug does shorten symptoms of influenza by about half a day - as the manufacturer suggests - but there is insufficient evidence to support claims that it reduces hospital admissions or serious complications, such as confirmed pneumonia or

Nashville, Tenn. — The state Senate on Tuesday passed a bill to allow Tennesseans to openly carry guns without a state-issued permit. The chamber voted 25-2 in favor of the bill sponsored by Republican Sen. Mae Beavers of Mt. Juliet. Beavers said the measure would maintain the current background checks and training requirements in order to carry concealed firearms, but would allow anyone legally allowed to own a gun to carry it openly without any extra restrictions. Beavers said on the Senate floor that requiring a carry permit "converts the right to carry a handgun into a privilege."

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

A caveat right off the bat: RAND’s estimate only runs through March 28 whereas the actual deadline for signing up was March 31st. Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. On the other hand, the White House was claiming six million sign-ups as of March 27. There’s no way to reconcile that with RAND’s data. One of them is wrong. Maybe both, in fact. There’s a big spike in Medicaid, just as everyone expected. There’s a less big but
