De Blasio Draws All Liberal
Eyes to New York City

New York Times, by Michael M. Grynbaum

Liberals across the country are looking to Bill de Blasio, who was sworn in as mayor early Wednesday, to morph New York City’s municipal machinery into a closely watched laboratory for populist theories of government that have never before been enacted on such a large scale. The elevation of an assertive, tax-the-rich liberal to the nation’s most prominent municipal office has fanned hopes that hot-button causes like universal prekindergarten and low-wage worker benefits — versions of which have been passed in smaller cities — could be aided by the imprimatur of being proved workable in New York. “The mayor has

These articles will be wonderful to have in the future when, as his progressive/liberal/communist ideas fail, we will be able to document the rapture of liberals today, and rebuke their attempts to disclaim him in the future.

Liberals already have Detroit as a model socialist city.

Why not focus on the "success" that half a century of democrat control has demonstrated?

The difficulty in putting socialist schemes to the test to see how they work in practice is that the results, almost always undesirable or worse, are forgotten or explained away by the next team of fantasists that comes along. It seems that some minds are unable(or unwilling) to learn from experience. Thus the same mistakes keep being repeated. Hope springs eternal.

No great smarts were needed to predict the likely consequences of entrusting people like Barack Obama and his pals with the presidency. Plenty of us knew from the beginning what would happen. Some who were asleep have since waked up - but Obama still has some supporters, and always will, no matter what.

We can be virtually certain that De Blasio and his gang will make a mess of things in NYC. It will take them a while, but that is what their fantastic schemes are bound to create. We can be equally certain that a substantial number of people, beginning with De Blasio himself, will not learn anything whatever from the mess they make. They will do it all again if given the chance.

It is the New York Times, so no need to take it seriously. But whatever the results of this election, it in no way represents the rest of America in its acceptance of aberrant behavior.

DeBlasio will probably win, which will demonstrate only that New York City is deviant, defiant and decadent, something we already knew.

Here is a college quiz. While many parts of the U.S. economy struggle to recover from the Great Recession of 2008-09, one domestic industry is experiencing a technology-driven expansion in which American innovations have led to countless new company startups, a surge in hiring and some of the highest-paying entry-level jobs for graduating college seniors. CONCORD, N.H. — Republican Scott Brown said Monday he will kick off his next campaign for U.S. Senate in Portsmouth, the New Hampshire city he says played a special role in his childhood. The former Massachusetts senator will formally announce his bid for the seat held by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen at the Portsmouth Harborside Hotel on Thursday night. “I remember our house on Islington Street, strolling through Strawbery Banke with my grandfather, and catching a show at Prescott Park. Now, Portsmouth is going to be the start of the next chapter in my life,” he told supporters in an email.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen sure talks a lot about “outside” money. She raises campaign funds by claiming to protect the state from outside “special interests” who might help Scott Brown. Those poor donors probably have no idea how much money Shaheen raises from out-of-state special interests. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks campaign donations, Shaheen has raised 75 percent of her 2014 campaign cash from out of state. For her career, Shaheen’s top 10 metropolitan areas for campaign donations are, in order: Boston; New York City; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; Lowell, Mass; San Francisco; Manchester; Chicago; Portsmouth; Philadelphia.

Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters.
