Taxpayers lose slew of
breaks with end of 2013

Washington Times, by Stephen Dinan

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 12/31/2013 9:31:42 PM

A final congressional stalemate in late December means the New Year’s expiration of a host of tax breaks, amounting to a $54.2 billion increase for green-energy businesses, teachers, homeowners, college students and others. Businesses will take the biggest hit, with the disappearance Wednesday of a valuable research tax credit, subsidies for building wind turbines and incentives to make energy efficiency improvements to buildings. Individuals will take hits, too. Those who pay college tuition will lose a tax credit, as will taxpayers who deduct state and local sales tax payments or who pay mortgage insurance.

Now do you believe the Dem Party is the Tax and Spend Party ?

Anyone else have a problem with "I have only been here 37 years" ? Three more years and it´s the equivalent of two regular full time jobs, only with less hours and more perks.

These tax increases do not affect me. obama promised that anyone making under $200,000 a year would NOT have their taxes increased. If you cannot trust our president´s word, who can you trust?

Reinstate all tax breaks except those for green energy, and subsidies for wind turbines, and ethanol.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Malaysia´s prime minister said he believes that "deliberate action" caused the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU +2.13% Flight 370, and authorities are now focusing on two areas in the search for the plane. In the first definitive comments from the nation´s government on how the jet came to vanish March 8, Najib Razak said at a news conference Saturday that data relayed by the plane to a satellite has confirmed it turned from its original course. He added that the last satellite communication from the plane was at 8:11 a.m. Malaysia time, well past the scheduled arrival time

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Investigators have concluded that one or more people with significant flying experience hijacked the missing Malaysia Airlines jet, switched off communication devices and steered it off-course, a Malaysian government official involved in the investigation said Saturday. No motive has been established and no demands have been made known, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media. The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. "It is conclusive," he said. He said evidence

Someone who is determined to disbelieve something can manage to disregard an Everest of evidence for it. So Barack Obama will not temper his enthusiasm for increased equality with lucidity about the government’s role in exacerbating inequality. In the movie “Animal House,” Otter, incensed by the expulsion of his fraternity, says: “I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture.” Such thinking gives us minimum-wage increases that do very little for very few. Meanwhile, there are farm bills, like the one Obama signed last month at Michigan State University. MSU was one of the models for

A week into the fruitless search for a missing Malaysian airliner, the focus returned to the possibility that a rogue pilot or hijackers took command of the plane as it flew north over the sea toward Beijing. That fear hinged on the erratic behavior of the plane after it stopped sending radar signals and an indisputable fact: Despite an exhaustive search of the waters that straddle Malaysia and farther into the Indian Ocean, no trace of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 has been found. “It’s looking less and less like an accident,” said a U.S. official who spoke on the

Special operators involved in the mission to take out Osama bin Laden say the reason photos of his body weren´t released is because they would have shown a body riddled with bullet holes. Carried in a report published by the Daily Mail, "the report from a website well known within the intelligence and armed services community claims that the sheer number of times Osama bin Laden was shot is the reason why the government never released photos." The "Special Operations Forces Situation Report" describes how "operator after operator took turns dumping magazines-worth of ammunition into bin Laden´s body." The report

The bizarre movement to “ban” the word “bossy” because it allegedly stigmatizes girls struck many people as ridiculous. But on consideration, it is something far more sophisticated and sinister than mere feminist hyperventilating. Hillary Clinton faces an image problem, and the deep thinkers on her propaganda team know it. In a debate during the 2008 primary campaign, Barack Obama alluded to it when he called her “likable enough,” a backhanded compliment/slap that stung. The woman who as first lady demanded that military service personnel assigned to the White House not look her in the face is an imperious, demanding, and

In case you hadn’t heard, young people these days — a.k.a “the Millennials” — are the most cynical and distrusting generation ever recorded. Only 19 percent think most people can be trusted. According to a big study from the Pew Research Center, they are less attached to marriage, religion, and political institutions than Gen Xers, Baby Boomers, and the other demographic flavors journalists love to use. They like their friends, their digital “social networks,” and their toys, and that’s about it. Not even a majority will call themselves “patriotic.” Probably more dismaying for liberals: Of any living generation, they are

The National Archives on Friday will release about 4,000 pages of secret memos and other internal records from President Bill Clinton´s administration, including communications about then-Vice President Al Gore´s 2000 presidential campaign. This is the second batch of roughly 25,000 pages of Clinton White House records that had been withheld from public view and are being released now over several weeks at the Clinton Presidential Library. An earlier cache of records released in late February documented efforts by first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton´s advisers to shape her political image, as well as memos related to health-care policy and

The president of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council challenges critics of President Obama’s Ukraine policy by saying, “What are you going to do, send the 101st Airborne into Crimea?” Not exactly subtle. And rather silly, considering that no one has proposed such a thing. The alternative to passivity is not war but a serious foreign policy. For the past five years, Obama’s fruitless accommodationism has invited the kind of aggressiveness demonstrated by Iran in Syria, China in the East China Sea and Russia in Ukraine. But what’s done is done. Put that aside. What is to be done now?

Despite an intensive effort by the Obama administration and heavy spending on outreach by the president’s political allies and the health care industry, the 500-plus patients at the massive traveling clinic in Buena Vista are either unaware or unswayed by the law. “Everybody here shouldn’t be here,” said

U.S. and European officials argue that Moscow is orchestrating the referendum and waging an intimidation campaign with thousands of Russian troops controlling the region. Fertility is the missing chapter in sex education. Sobering facts about women’s declining fertility after their 20s are being withheld from ambitious young women, who are propelled along a career track devised for men. The refusal by public schools’ sex-education programs to acknowledge gender differences is betraying both boys and girls. The genders should be separated for sex counseling. It is absurd to avoid the harsh reality that boys have less to lose from casual serial sex than do girls, who risk pregnancy and whose future fertility can be compromised by disease. Boys need lessons in basic ethics and moral reasoning

Obama was careful to specify that people who can´t afford Obamacare will not suffer a

US officials believe that two communications systems aboard Malaysian Airlines flight 370 were shut down separately, 14 minutes apart - which indicates the plane did not come down because of a sudden catastrophic failure. The data reporting system was shut down at 1.07 am and the transponder was turned off at 1.21 am just after the the pilot signed off to Malaysian air traffic controllers with ´All right, good night,´ and before the Boeing 777 apparently changed course and turned west. According to investigators this indicated that the switch-off could have been a deliberate act and officials told ABC News that the

House Democrats again targeted the controversial Issa on Thursday, with a bid to force the California Republican to publicly apologize for what they dub his “repeated history of abuse” toward the minority party. Democratic Rep. Dan Kildee (Mich.)’s resolution condemns Issa for repeated clashes with Democrats – exchanges Kildee said don’t live up to the responsibility of a committee chairman.
