Why some Catholics think Obama is
master of deception

CNN, by Ashley McGuire

Original Article

It was the 2013 Politifact "Lie of the Year," our president´s now infamous line: "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it." Now all Americans are realizing what Catholics have known from the beginning: President Barack Obama is a master of deception. Lest people forget, passage of the Affordable Care Act happened in part because Obama struck a deal with a single Catholic holdout: Bart Stupak, D-Michigan. Stupak agreed to vote for the bill in exchange for an executive order protecting conscience rights and preserving the Hyde Amendment´s ban on the use of federal funds for abortion.

Persuades the mob, great woes befall the state.”

Anybody who did their homework on Obama knew that Obamacare would cover abortion. Stupak claims to be prolife but voted party line. He should have known better and he stills thinks he voted the right way. You can not be a democrat and be prolife.

Any Catholic whose votes help keep abortion legal, and funded, is no longer a Catholic in good standing.

Why some Catholics think Obama is master of deception

It not just Catholics, it´s anyone that has a sense of right and wrong.

1 Question! What American citizen, when asked for a birth certificate, can´t produce one in a few days?

Why the surprise? The Catholic vote in the North East, Ill and CA. elected Obama and now they feel lied to, to bad. They did not want to associate with conservative Protestants when they stood the line and now there are no lines of defense left.

I remember I was so shocked in 2009 when Stupak caved, I thought I´d have a heart attack. Don´t mock, I was literally doubled over in pain.

A similar sensation in 2012 when Cardinal Dolan got his picture broadcast coast-to-coast and around the world braying and chortling with Obama at the Alfred Smith fundraising dinner. That bit of pink-faced Irish charm could have arguably flipped enough Catholic lo-fo voters to and Obama the election.

The worst part is, I do not think Obama is such a "master of deception." I think the problem is that these fellow Catholics of mine are --- in certain areas, mind you, in a certain limited sense --- un-be-LIEVE-ably stupid.

Nobody believed that Obama´s executive order was worth the paper it was written on. Bart just wanted some cover so he could vote for it. He got the cover, his constituents gave him the boot. Now the rest of them who voted for it need the boot.

I´ll tell you why No.9, speaking as a RC. Because more than 50% of the Catholics are ignorant and very Lo-Fo! After their 50 minutes in church on Sunday, that´s it! They then resort back to being non-Catholic until next Sunday. This greater than 50% "Catholic" crowd all think they know better than the Church herself. And let´s not talk about the ignorance of a great many priests who thought (and taught) that Obamacare was the next best thing to sliced bread! Idiots!

I am Catolic and know only a small handful of Catholics who voted for Obama.

Remember two things. First, the "Catholic" part is entirely self identified and thus includes a great many who only attend mass for weddings and funerals.

Second, it includes Mexicans and other Latin American immigrants who often know little of their faith. For almost 100 years now socialists governments in the region have enforced restrictions on the education of clergy and the ability of the Church to catechize.

...perhaps people will finally realize what some Catholics have been saying all along: Our President threw quite a party, but it´s over. And now the truth sets in.
We can only hope that the "party is over." It´s too early to celebrate but at least the truth is seeping out from under the door.

Personally, I would have preferred that Obamacare had gone down to ignominious defeat in Congress, but it would probably have been brought up again in a different iteration. This may be better because those who didn´t understand what Obamacare really is, at least now know that Obama is a liar. It is recorded in dozens of speeches in the presence of thousands of Americans and can´t be denied.

The one thing Americans, down deep, can´t stand is lying. Telling the truth is close to Godliness. Lying is what the Devil does - even atheists believe that lying is evil.
Our most revered Presidents were known for their honesty, and their stories are part of the DNA of Americans.

Presidents Washington and Lincoln are shining examples of honesty and, stories about them are taught every year in grade schools in February. George Washington told his father that he could not tell a lie - that he had cut down the cherry tree. Abe Lincoln was called Honest Abe because he walked for miles to return money to a lady who had overpaid him by a few pennies.

If America is lucky journalists will turn to reporting the truth instead of whitewashing or "blackwashing" a liar.

If you read and pay attention and do not yet believe that he is a liar you should consult your psychiatrist and then your neuroscientist. He is clearly and transparently a serial liar.

Obama, his cabal, all 150 Catholics in Congress and throughout the bureaucracy and press, are all conspiring together to legalize 20 to 30 million Catholic illegal aliens. This attention getting phony "amnesty" is drawing illegals and terrorists into our wide open border lands, like bees to honey.
While the Catholic propagandists are distracting us with medical issues of pro life, ALL Catholic government prone, lobbied, bribed, elites, like Schumer, Rubio, McCain, are fanatically setting up the next new controlled demo-communist voting block. If "legalized"
this new body of illiterate aliens will be held under a virtual government controlled union, backed 100 per cent by The Church of Rome !

Too many Catholics espouse such as pro-life everywhere but in the voting booth. Then there are the honest ones, like Nancy Pelosi... And the U.S. Catholic hierarchy is apparently from central casting to support the Dems. As for Bart Stupak...there should be an annual vigil in front of his house for having cast the deciding vote to escape the pressure. A real "Profile in Courage" he was.

No, #16, if you think Catholic politicians are in favor of accommodating illegal immigration because the Pope told them so, you area few frijoles short of the plato combinado. They simply see them --- accurately --- as "undocumented Democrats."

Yes, 74% --- not 100% --- of the illegals arriving on these shores are nominal Catholics. And 5-10% percent per year leave the Church once they arrive --- yes, that´s 20% to 50% years in 5 years. So if this were a recruitment strategy for the Catholic Church, it sure isn´t working. Far more of them remain Catholics if they remain in Mexico and Central America.

And the "Church in Rome" has said not one word about any one of dozens of possible kinds of competing legislative proposals.

Pope Francis has urgently asked that we treat migrants with real consideration for their physical neediness, their cultural values, their membership in a civic community, and family reunification. All four of these goals could be achieved by prompt and humane repatriation to the home countries where each and every one of them has a family and holds legal citizenship.

Stupak and Dolan are both suckers and cheerleaders for the dear leader. Dolan and the bishops were in front of the line supporting Obama putting in Obama Care. They viewed it as a charitable act. I blame Dolan more because he has a position where he should have been wise to Obama and oppose him from the beginning. He was not up to his job of recognizing evil when it was staring him in the face. Anyone who is wise would distrust the grandiose promises of a phoney like Obama!

Stupak liked all the adulation and attention as did Dolan and the conference of Catholic Bishops. Most Catholics think this social justice BS is the cat´s meow. It´s an offshoot of black liberation "theology." Look it up. Sickening.

At some point, those who stupakedly followed this Pied Piper will pay dearly. America and the Church are worse off for it. God have mercy!

I truly believe that the Catholics that voted for this guy ere mostly Democrats..voted union or party line, and have that attitude of "whats in it for me"
I also think that those Catholics justified their voting for this guy because of his "generosity" and they themselves were not really supporting abortion.

I have read articles in Catholic newspapers that state..If a Catholic voted for this guy, they have committed a mortal sin.
Now the bishops are pushing amnesty because it keeps families together...hogwash..all it will do is keep the death panels and free abortions imposed on us

I´ve known many Catholics who are in the church simply because they were born that way and their parents dragged them to mass every week. They go through the ritual on Sunday and go right back to their normal lives on Monday.

When it actually comes down to something like defending their faith or walking into the arena with the lions, the crosses come off in a hurry.

Cardinal Dolan collaborated with Barack Hussein. That jovial photo of the Cardinal and Obama at the Smith dinner was a signal to all Catholics that it was just fine to vote for this Dervish. So now we have abortion in ObamaCare, and Bart Stupak and Cardinal Dolan made it possible. Who are we to judge?

Viva Sandra Fluke and Georgetown University. Communist agitators really know hoe to effect change. First they sent tiny Stephanopulus to ask a questions about contraceptives and now we have death for innocents, including if they are girls.

Of regular, Church attending Catholics, however, Obama was routed---twice.
Moral of the story: Calling yourself a Catholic does not make you a truly observant one...see Pelosi, Biden, Cuomo,Cuomo, Cuomo, Ferrara,Dolan, Christie,Panetta,Davis, Kery,....etc.

I thought that Stupak was earnest in his opposition, and I was also flabbergasted when he made his deal with Obama. Surely he knew that an EO would not override the legislation. When he did that, I realized that he had played his part and played us. His abrupt retirement was part of the script. Now I know that he is a man of no principle and I will never be convinced otherwise.

Many people self-identify as Catholic because they were raised in the Faith, but have embraced the secular “being spiritual” that allows them to enjoy going to church on Christmas and Easter. They tend to be generational democrats that are as clueless to the socialist agenda as they are to the tenants of the Catholic Church.

IIRC the breakdown of Obama voters within those Catholics who attend Sunday Mass regularly was the decided minority. I talked with two older women in our parish who were Obama voters. These are women who are the heart of the parish, devoted to serving God and their community. They acknowledge the evil of abortion and we have prayed together at pro-life vigils. However, they sincerely believe that they have no right to impose that belief on the wider society by restricting/repealing the legality of abortion. I finally had to accept that this was the rationalization that allowed them to continue to vote for Democrats. They were both in the 80’s. One had been a poor sharecropper child in Oklahoma in the depression with FDR as her hero, and the other an Irish immigrant whose hero was JFK. The generational democrat vote is very strong.

Catholicism is like every other human societal endeavor. Those that identify within its definition vary widely in their commitment. It runs from those baptized Catholic but never enter a church to those that go to daily Mass and have an active prayer life. I imagine it is the same in other Christian denominations and Judaism. The Catholic “vote” is no more monolithic than the Episcopal “vote”, and no more to “blame” for electing Obama than the mythical 2-4-6-8 millions of “purist conservatives” who stayed home.

If the Catholic hierarchy really is that upset with how things panned out, they need look no further than in the mirror to see the real culprit responsible for the outrage in the Oval Office. They strongly supported The One! And they mislead their flocks by doing so.

We had a visiting priest go so far as to tell us in his homily --- delivered from the altar during Mass --- that we should not allow racism to be the reason for not supporting Obama! And our regular Monsignor is no better! A BIG supporter of social justice, illegals, admitted gays in the choir and on the altar, rants against "evil" guns, blaming Wall Street for the existence of poor people, etc. You´d think the Berrigan brothers were still active!

Lots of fellow Catholics don´t like admitting the truth that many of us voted for Obama because we are more Democrat than Catholic. In my old parish, a former Grand Knight (of the Knights of Columbus) voted for Obama because he was going to lower taxes. Yep. This is the mindset. During the first election, our parish priest urged us to vote for Obama. Second election, he was pretty durn quiet.

Okay, as a former evangelical Christian now Catholic convert, I´m really dismayed at the Catholic-bashing going on here. Even while I agree that many Catholics neither understand nor practice the faith in which they were raised, the same is true for other denominations; I know~I´ve lived it. Obama´s team is playing chess; he´s betting that the Church will cave on the abortion issue rather than risk her mission to the poor. In other words, the Church will blink first and not close hospitals, clinics, schools, etc. over the mandate. He has made a grave miscalculation. The Sixth Circuit just issued an injunction in favor of the Diocese of Nashville and other Catholic entities exempting them from the mandate pending their case proceeding through the system. Let´s see if the Supremes can do the right thing this time....

Antiochus Epiphanes got immortalized in the Bible by forcing Jews to eat pork. Barack Antiochus Obama wants to force Catholics to pay for fornication (artificial birth control) and abortion. When the opportunity presents itself, he will order all churches to perform same-sex marriages. And if he ever thinks he can get away with forcing the Catholic Church to ordain women, he will.

I too was devastated when Bart Stupak caved to Obama. Our conscience rights are granted to us by our Constitution, and Bart Stupak and Obama had no right to barter them. The word of a man like Obama is as nothing compared to the Constitution, and Stupak was dead wrong. It pains me, too, that John Roberts, educated for 12 years in Catholic schools, did not have a problem with Obamacare´s denial of our conscience rights.

I was disappointed too with Cardinal Dolan at the Al Smith dinner, as well, but thought perhaps he was merely doing what he thought was required of a host. There can be no compromise where our conscience is concerned, and the free exercise of our faith.

Obama is not a master of deception; he is a bald-faced liar, a three-card-monte dealer, seeking to trick those who might disagree with him.

#39 - re the marriage issue ... Marriage in the Church is the Sacrament of Matrimony. If the state in the future chooses not to recognize that as a civil marriage so be it.

I think the Catholic and Orthodox Churches are the only ones that consider marriage to be a sacrament ... hence the divorce issue.

Same with ordination - Sacrament of Holy Orders.

Re #43: It would just add another reason to the "why bother" argument for getting married in the Church if a couple will have to wed again before a certified state ´minister´ in order to be legally married. It seems like yet another way the State is trying to pry the Church out of its traditional roles in society (including education, healthcare, adoption, and poverty relief), whether by competition or outright takeover.

Mickey Rooney, the pint-sized actor who was one of MGM’s giant box office attractions in the late ’30s and early ’40s, died on Sunday. He was 93. As adept at comedy as drama and an excellent singer and dancer, Rooney was regarded as the consummate entertainer. During a prolific career on stage and screen that spanned eight decades (“I’ve been working all my life, but it seems longer,” he once said), he was nominated for four Academy Awards and received two special Oscars, the Juvenile Award in 1939 (shared with Deanna Durbin) and one in 1983 for his body of work.

Vampires, nudists, snakes: Nobody

Last week, news broke that a congressional candidate in Gainesville had a secret pastime: impersonating vampires. And superheroes. Some people would call this nutty. In Florida, we just call it Tuesday. Seriously, that´s not even our highest-profile vampire story. Remember the "vampire killings" from Lake County? Some of our stories are heartbreakingly tragic. But so many are also mind-numbingly strange. In Florida, we do weird the way Kansas does wheat. Here, giant pet snakes escape. And breed. And then invade our national parks. We have fish that eat people, alligators that eat people and people who eat people.

One of the latest tools targeting the growing problem of texting while driving didn´t come out of Apple, Google or Microsoft. It was the brainchild of two Orlando-area entrepreneurs who recently launched a new mobile app called Txt Shield. The idea behind Txt Shield, which runs on Android phones, is to short-circuit any texting capability when people are cruising down the highway, according to brothers Philip and Geoffrey Stiles, co-founders and partners in Txt Shield LLC. Parents can install it on their teens´ phones; employers can put it on company-issued phones; and individuals can download it to help resist the urge to

President Obama’s Department of Homeland Security caught then released 68,000 aliens who had previously been convicted of a crime, a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies shows. The report, provided to Breitbart News ahead of its late Sunday evening release, reviews internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) metrics to conclude that the Obama administration released 35 percent—or 68,000—convicted criminal aliens back into the U.S. general population when they could have been deported. (Snip) In response to these findings from CIS that follow up on his office’s report last week, Sessions said immigration law in America has essentially ceased to

San Jose, Calif. — A usually busy DMV office in San Jose was closed Friday after a motorist waiting to take a driver´s test crashed her car into the building and caused a gas leak. The driver declined to give her name but told KTVU she was nervous about taking the driver´s license tests because this would have been her third try. Around noon the line started to move but she said she hit the accelerator instead of the brake and rammed a motorcycle rider in front of her. Then, she said she swerved to try to avoid running over the rider and

President Obama says the thousands of Irish immigrants in the US are being denied opportunities because of the US strict immigration laws. The President was speaking the traditional Shamrock ceremony at the White House as part of the St Patrick´s Day celebrations. The issue of immigration reform was a priority for the Irish Government delegation, led by Enda Kenny. The delegation has been lobbying in Washington during the St Patrick´s Day trip for reforms to benefit the 50,000 undocumented Irish there. President Obama said too many undocumented Irish were denied the chance to contribute to society as they were not able to pay taxes

These are the 634 runways where the missing Malaysia Airlines plane could have landed after a potential hijacking. Today Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said investigators believe flight MH370´s disappearance is the result of ´deliberate action´ by someone on the plane. During a dramatic press conference, he said satellite evidence showed the aircraft´s transponder was turned off and it change direction shortly before it vanished. President Barack Obama held a Spanish language town hall at the Newseum last week in which he was interviewed by reporters from some of the largest Spanish media outlets in the world. During the interview, he was asked a question from a man who wanted to buy Obamacare for a family of three but couldn’t afford it. (Snip) Obama couldn’t settle on a single answer to the question, so he instead suggested that the man should just sign up for Medicaid, blamed Texas for affordable insurance not being available, and concluded by saying the man should cancel his telephone service

On Fox News last night, Bill O’Reilly struggled with a question he apparently finds confusing: why aren’t major news organizations covering the IRS “scandal” to his satisfaction. Lois Lerner, the former head of the IRS’ tax exempt division, took the Fifth last week, but most of the media seemed indifferent. (Snip) That’s one possible explanation. But in the interest of giving O’Reilly and Goldberg something else to consider, there’s a more plausible, reality-based reason the media has lost interest in this scandal: there is no scandal. As we’ve discussed on more than a few occasions, the story has already been

The past two days have revealed the dangerous ramifications of the narrow-minded foreign policy elite in Washington, and a media establishment that has for so much of President Obama’s tenure accepted the statements of the administration as gospel. (Snip) If this is the sort of foreign policy anticipation that the establishment delivers, it’s little surprise that no one trusts America’s self-styled policy elites any more. They are too used to judging the world according to the patterns toward which they are already biased, as opposed to seeing it as it is.

President Obama has made liberal use of "executive action" throughout his presidency, and pledged to make even more use of executive action in this year´s State of the Union speech. He seems to think that because Republicans don´t want to implement his agenda, he can go around Congress. The Heritage Foundation is out with a new report on President Obama´s executive actions, titled "An Executive Unbound," finding that "abusive, unlawful, even potentially unconstitutional unilateral action has been a hallmark of the Obama Administration." They´ve also compiled a list of the top ten abusive executive actions taken by the President.

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

The cash infusion by the federal government is actually going to help the city pay pensions, even though they´re playing a kind of shell game with the money. As for "blight removal," perhaps they could start with city hall. Reuters: Michigan officials and President Barack Obama´s Administration are discussing a plan to free up $100 million in federal money to aid Detroit´s retired city workers, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. Citing two people familiar with the talks, the newspaper said the talks were centered around federal money flowing to Michigan for blight removal. Under the plan, $100 million
