Rose Parade to Feature Same-Sex Wedding Float

The Pasadena Star news reports that a San Diego woman has called for the Rose Parade to be boycotted because it will feature a gay wedding atop a float. The float, sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), is titled, “Love is the Best Protection.” The parade will be watched by an estimated 68 million people around the world. San Diegan Karen Grube, who said her protest is not out of her religious convictions, and says she is opposed to having any wedding featured in the parade, has requested that corporate sponsors drop their funding of the parade if the

A Duck Dynasty float would shame the A&E float into withdrawal.

I think a lot of people who aren´t really much aware of what same sex "marriage" really entails, like lesbians kissing in public, will be watching the parade not knowing what will happen. Things like this and like the uproar by gays over Duck Dynasty only serve to have gays outright despised as opposed to merely ignored.

Not an issue for me, since I no longer have TV in my house. But for those people who protest they can´t get rid of cable because otherwise they´ll be deprived of their sports, just think about this in the coming months. Sports ought to be an innocent way of passing the time. But nothing is safe from these frenzied pervert proselytizers. The commentators use their platform to push homosexual marriage and other liberal talking points, athletes "come out" publicly to rapturous reviews and applause. Now parades are platforms for deviancy. They won´t leave you alone EVER. You can´t just watch a game, you have to dodge ideological shrapnel in your own living room. Is it really worth it?

Remember when the cry was for us to ´get out of their bedrooms´? So we did, and we ignored them. They decided they preferred the attention, so they started getting in our faces. You want our attention, fine.
I say we give them so much attention that it forces them back into the privacy of their own homes. And they then leave the rest of us alone and in peace.

If this is a Democracy, why do 2% get to dictate what the other 98% have to accept?

We should watch the parade to find out who the sponsors are, then write the sponsors to tell them that we are disappointed that they sponsored a blatantly homosexual display, and that we will no longer be purchasing their products.

That will have more effect than simply not watching the Parade.

If you don´t want to sit through it live; record it and fast forward as much as possible.

Sorry RP, I will not be watching. My biggest complaint in the pst is they only give the US Air Force flyby about 2 seconds of air time. The networks would not show it at all if they could. Next year it will be a polygamy float with some dude marrying 4 women on one end and some woman marrying 4 guys at the other since polygamy has the same standing under the law as gay marriage. You know equal protection under the law. Maybe I will DVR some episodes of Duck Dynasty in the meantime so I will have something good to watch.

The parade will be carried by several networks and not every float and entry is covered by any of them. It would be interesting to see which ones will rush to feature this one while dropping coverage of an equestrian team or high school band.

Another point: Boy Scouts have, in the past, carried the identifying banners while marching ahead of each entry. Will they be required to do so for this one?

#6 The photo is not of the "happy couple" as at the end of the article we read the names and pronoun "he". I think two men kissing in public will be more disturbing than two women (yuk factor high there as well).

I´m really stunned by this. The Tournament of Roses organization used to be formal, straight-laced, and very conservative in the designs allowed for the floats. The parade and all the Tournament festivities were 100% family.

The Boy Scouts will carry the banner. The national BSA voted to allow gay scouts starting January 1.

There is nothing American that the vermin communists will not defile. I grew up in L.A. I saw the 1958 Rose Parade in person when I was four years old. All my life I´ve watched The Parade. Its tied up with loving childhood memories of our family watching together.

January 1st begins with Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God. How can I watch such an abomination on a Holy Feast Day after receiving the Eucharist?

The AIDS Health Care Foundation is the sponsor? Why is a gay wedding a representation of their work, which afflicts millions of women and children, in Africa, especially, as well as men, gay and straight? You would think that if they REALLY wanted to represent the people who suffer from AIDS, they´d be more inclusive.

For those wondering why:

For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good,

treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid them!

For among them are those who make their way into households and captivate silly women, overwhelmed by their sins and swayed by all kinds of desires,

who are always being instructed and can never arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

It is not just Markos of Daily Kos infamy claiming the Left has won the culture war. The Week´s Matt Lewis is saying the same. Yeah, they are both kinda trolling. So ´scuse me while I take the bait. Let´s start with the biggie: same-sex marriage. Yes, polls show gay marriage is breaking out all over, but when put to a vote same-sex marriage has lost (even in California) much more often than not. Furthermore, gay marriage is not being legalized through popular opinion or demand, it is being legalized through activist judges. There is no question that attitudes have

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive

A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, a U.S. military official said Monday. In the first public account of the incident, the official said the Russian Fencer flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level. Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings. The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
