DNC sends email defending Obama
from impeachment possibility

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sent out a paranoid email Saturday evening urging supporters to vote for Democrats so that Republicans can’t impeach President Obama. The email, subject line “Impeachment,” was sent to Obama for America supporters, imploring them to contribute to the DNC’s 2014 efforts. “What do these people all have in common?,” the email asked, featuring quotes from Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan, and Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas discussing the possibility of impeaching Obama for one of his numerous instances of presidential misconduct. The DNC email discussed

The paranoid DNC need not worry. Zippy is a lame duck and tired. No need to add Joe to the mix we are better off waiting until 2016 and then mopping up the slime.

A Republican Senate, gutless during the Klintoon impeachment, shows how empty a "threat" this is.

Actually the threat is very real. People generally conflate the process of "impeachment" (which is conducted solely by the House of Representatives) with the subsequent process of "removal from office" (which is conducted solely by the Senate). So Clinton was indeed impeached, but he was not removed from office. So too, it is quite possible for Obama to be impeached but not removed from office.

In my opinion, Obama´s transgressions (usurpation of the powers of Congress, failure to enforce laws and thus violate his oath of office, failure to defend the country from the threat posed by a nuclear Iran, etc ) exceed those of Clinton, and certainly rise to the level of "high crimes" as envisioned by our founders. If any President ever deserved to be impeached for assuming dictatorial power, it´s Obama. There would indeed be value to proceeding with impeachment (regardless of whether he is subsequently removed from office) to send a message that such excesses will not be tolerated in any future President.

The democrats see that they have pushed the country as far left as they can now. The last arrow they have left in their quiver is to make Obama a victim. The Republicans don´t have the will to draw up Articles of Impeachment and what difference, at this point, would it make? What is more important than impeachment is not allowing the democrats to rewrite the history of the Obama administration. They have him pegged for Mt. Rushmore status, he needs to be exposed for who he is and what he has done to this country. Denying the democrats Obama´s deification should be paramount.

Impeachment is precisely the reason Republicans need to get their act together. As the poll numbers continue to drop, that possibility looms every larger.

#3 is correct but........

There remains the "Tar Baby" problem.

The presstitutes will wail and moan that the evil Republicans are racially motivated.

Remember what happened when Zippy´s people produced a poorly photoshopped bad forgery of a birth certificate ?

Did we win the argument based on the obvious facts ?

No, we did not.

We may get the votes in the house but in so doing we may strengthen Zippy´s hand as a victim who´s presidency was sabotaged by racist Republicans.

Doesn´t matter that it´s not true.

Interesting that if Barry did get impeached that would make two presidents in recent history to have done so. Note that both are radical progressive Saul Alinsky loving Democrat Marxists. See a pattern here?

#3 is correct and I think the Founders would agree especially with this part:
"There would indeed be value to proceeding with impeachment (regardless of whether he is subsequently removed from office) to send a message that such excesses will not be tolerated in any future President."

I really believe we have to begin now building the future. That really is what the Founders did for us. The slow erosion over the last 100 years is now on an out-of-control freight train. If we don´t get a highly qualified train conductor/engineer, this USA train is going to jump the tracks at the next bend. If we make it around that very severe curve in the next 3 years, maybe we can make it through the tunnel ahead and then emerge into the light.

Oh, please. A Republican congress that has caved on just about everything zippy and Reid have thrown at them are NEVER going to impeach the first (white, Arab) black president.

As the saying goes...he could murder and then rape a five year old boy live on CNN and he would skate. Heck, NAMBLA, GLAAD and the NAALCP would provide his lawyers.

The only corse of action is to win back the senate, keep the house and force the Republicans to shut him down for the next 3 years.

BTW, his approval numbers may have made a slight tick upward, but that will probably change on January 1 when those few idiots who managed to sign up for nobamacare find out that they don´t actually have coverage. ( When I typed "nobamacare" into my iPad, it auto-corrected it to "nova macabre" - how fitting )

Right on #3. What bothers me most about people making comments about impeachment is ´don´t try--it will never happen.´ How do you know if you don´t try. (Ever say that to your kids?) And, yes, impeachment would be a great end note to this presidency even if he remains in office. He can get nothing done while actually spending time defending himself. Why be so afraid of one man. It´s obvious the democrats are really afraid of the American people. So go for it.

I have little interest in having Obama impeached...not that it´s not fully warranted. But that would simple fill the news cycle every day for years and take everyone´s attention away from all the other issues that have been crippling our country for the past five years. My preference for squelching his power-grab would be to neuter him with a Republican House and Senate then continually challenge his executive overreach in the courts.

By defending Obama from the possibility, the democrats are admitting that he deserves it. They are terrified of the Republicans finally growing a backbone. There is no other president in history more deserving of impeachment. Nixon lied about political party shenanigans. He could have apologized and moved on. Clinton was impeached over lying about sexual shenanigans. He too could have dodged the bullet if he had been honest from the beginning. Neither act was that big of a deal.

Barack Obama lies to the American people on a daily basis about far more serious matters. He has broken Constitutional Law. He has stolen billions from the U.S. Treasury. He has supplied weapons and material aid to terrorists. He allowed citizens and diplomatic personnel to be killed by his shear incompetence. He closed down an entire natural gas and oil field in the Gulf of Mexico and allowed foreign countries to take it over. He wrecked the best health care system in the world. He severely wounded our economy and put many formerly working people out on the street for nothing more than political idealism. He has demonstrated time after time that he despises the U.S. Military and its many veterans.

Impeach the corrupt, anti-American, incompetent psycho now!

What´s good for the goose...We are going to have to jump start America after Obama´s ruination...need a Conservative President who hits the ground running and uses all tools at his disposal to reverse the damage.

Impeachment is not or should not be about political parties or political positions. Impeachment is about removing a president for high crimes and misdemeanors. (whatever that means). Unless and until someone can make a convincing argument that "Obama", and not someone in his regime, committed a crime or crimes sufficient to convince and incite the majority of the population, any talk of impeachment is pointless.

The takeaway from this article is that Democrats are pleading with their base to vote for them to prevent impeachment. The democrats don´t offer a defense, they just offer blind partisan loyalty. Obama could fiddle while Washington burns at the hands of Organizing for America, and the democrats promise to stick their fingers in their ears while repeating lalalalalalalalalalalala.

It is the democrats responsible for this mess. Hold their feet to the fire. Encourage your democrat friends that they also need fresh blood in their party. In my lifetime I have only witnessed impeachment proceedings once. Bill Clinton was the subject of that impeachment.
I remember the great patriotic and moving speech by Henry Hyde, whom I admired as a politician, on the floor. With that speech I knew Clinton was finished. What happened next, the Senate Republicans along with the democrat communist stabbed him in the back.
Forget about impeaching the ´first black failed experiment´. Obama will get his eight years but you wonder how much more destruction of this once great nation can he do and debt he can spend us into.

I fully agree with #3 one this. And of course, the dims in the Senate would never vote to remove him and the NAALCP would scream loud and long about the "racist" Republicans, BUT, the impeachment process in itself would provide, IMHO, valuable information to the American public. First of all, it would be televised on every major network, and as such, the public would be educated as to the many things that Obozo has done. Secondly, it would expose the dims for what they really are, especially if there is one or two Republicans on the Judiciary Committee that would forward during the hearings. And it would show America just who and what Dingy Harry really is and what his agenda really is. In fact it would show America just what the dim agenda really is. And it isn´t to "help" anyone in the country except their own and their cronies. I think it should be done. The sooner the better.

Even the Boehner Cantor McCain Rubio Ryan McConnel RINO socialists will have to get on the bandwagon and unite for Barry´s deserved
After all, puppet Barry and his Jaret Soros Podesta criminal underworld mob, ARE trying to collapse this great country of ours. They all deserve the stain of impeachment.

Republicans are not going to vote for impeachment unless they know they can remove Obama from office.

That won´t happen until and unless Republicans get a majority in the Senate.

Democrats know that impeachment is a real possibility if the Republicans win the Senate in 2014 and given the fact that Obama has committed multiple unconstitutional acts.

I rarely make a follow-up comment to my original comment, but I feel that one is very pertinent in this case.

The question is: should the House proceed with an impeachment process even though it is a certainty that the Senate will not vote to remove Obama from office? The answer is YES.

Why? The genius of the American system of government is that it was designed to control the power of the President by controlling both his policies and his spending powers through Congress, as well as through the interpretation of his adherence to the Constitution through the Supreme Court. Until Obama, these "balance of power" institutions (Congress and the Supreme Court) served their design intent pretty well. America maintained relative stability even as the Presidency changed hands between Democrat and Republican office folders.

That stability has ended. By openly flouting the historic role of Congress and stacking the Supreme Court with rubber stamp ideologues (Ginzburg, Sotomayor, Kagan specifically), Obama has unequivocally assumed dictatorial powers. This very fact MUST be addressed...now.

The argument that a future conservative President can take advantage of this type of power only supports and reinforces my argument. Lurching from left to right on an ongoing basis is in itself a clear and present danger to the stability and indeed the survival of the country.

This cannot be ignored. The abuse of executive power must be definitively curbed now. The House must move to impeach Barack Obama as a sign to all future Presidents of the constitutional limits to their power.

#3 is entirely correct. There is absolutely no down side to We The People pushing for impeachment as hard as we can, as soon as we can, and as often as we can.

Worst case: House won´t do it. At least all reps will have been put on notice. Scare them.
Second worst: House does vote but it loses. All the votes against are put on notice. And see what #36 said about educating LoFo´s.
Getting better: House passes but Senate doesn´t. We the people are encouraged - vote in better reps and try again after 2014, when...
Best case: Both pass it and he´s gone. Yes I know this is unlikely. But not impossible.

There is NO down side to any of this. I don´t buy the "media will yell" argument. Let them. They are losing credibility daily.

And #6, as for polls, just wait until Jan 1 when people can´t get health care OR light bulbs. 2013 was just a warmup.

President Obama is lending his political support to fellow community organizer Al Sharpton by headlining the MSNBC host’s National Action Network (NAN) conference this week in New York. Obama’s choice to headline the conference underscores the close ties of the two leaders and provides an increased sense of political legitimacy to the controversial leader and his much-maligned organization. Dozens of Russians linked to Russia´s gradual takeover of Crimea could face U.S. and EU travel bans and asset freezes on Monday, after six hours of crisis talks between Washington and Moscow ended with both sides still far apart.Moscow shipped more troops and armor into Crimea on Friday and repeated its threat to invade other parts of Ukraine in response to violence in Donetsk on Thursday night despite Western demands to pull back.EU diplomats will choose from a long list of 120-130 possible Russian targets for sanctions on Sunday, as pro-Moscow authorities who have taken power in Crimea hold a

A co-founder of the Pinkberry frozen yogurt chain who was convicted last year of beating a homeless man with a tire iron over a tattoo he considered disrespectful was sentenced on Friday to seven years in prison. Young Lee, a 49-year-old South Korean kick boxer-turned-architect who parted ways with Pinkberry in 2010, was convicted in November of assault with a deadly weapon, along with special allegations that he caused great bodily injuries to his victim. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Lee was sentenced to the maximum of four years in prison for the assault, with an

In the most comprehensive account to date of the plane’s fate, Najib drew an ominous picture of what happened aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, saying investigators had determined there was “deliberate action by someone on the plane.”

Dems´ new 2014 plan:

Democrats know their biggest problem in this year’s midterm election is Obamacare. So top party operatives have settled on a strategy to try blunting the GOP’s advantage: Tell voters Republicans would make the problem worse — raising prescription drug prices, empowering insurance companies and even endangering domestic violence victims. The battle plan, details of which were in a memo obtained by POLITICO, recognizes the unpopularity of the Affordable Care Act. But it also banks on voter fatigue with the GOP’s relentless demands for repeal and counts on poll-backed data that show many Americans would rather fix Obamacare’s problems than scrap it

First in a series of stories on the Obama administration´s outside fundraising efforts to promote Obamacare enrollment.Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and other department staff may be continuing to solicit private donations to help an outside group promote the president´s health care law as the administration works to boost enrollment figures after a troubled fall rollout. News last May that Sebelius had asked business executives and nonprofit groups to donate to Enroll America, a nonprofit organization formed to help encourage millions of Americans to sign up for the new Obamacare insurance exchanges, provoked an uproar among Republicans on Capitol

George Zimmerman is stepping back into the media spotlight — and that is generating sparks of controversy. It’s understandable that plenty of people never want to see his face again. He is the man who killed Trayvon Martin, and while he was acquitted of murder in their fatal street encounter, the fact remains that an unarmed black teenager is dead. Since the Florida trial that became a media sensation, Zimmerman has had several run-ins with law enforcement. After his wife left him, his 27-year-old girlfriend called police and said he had aimed a shotgun at her, and authorities arrested him and temporarily confiscated a shotgun, assault-style rifle and three handguns.

Woody Allen is continuing to put on a brave face following abuse allegations from his adopted daughter — even attending a Broadway musical where one audience member brazenly yelled, “I think he did it!” Allen, wife Soon-Yi and their two daughters Bechet and Manzie attended the “After Midnight,” matinee starring k.d. lang at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Saturday. The moment the show ended and the crowd stood for the ovation, the famously shy director, who is nominated for Best Original Screenplay for “Blue Jasmine,” and his family made a beeline for the door. But he didn’t go unnoticed by

GENEVA — An Ethiopian Airlines co-pilot hijacked a plane bound for Rome on Monday and flew it to Geneva, where he wanted to seek asylum, officials said. The Boeing 767-300 plane with 202 passengers and crew aboard had taken off from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, and landed in the Swiss city at about 6 a.m. (0500 GMT). Officials said no one on the flight was injured.Geneva airport chief executive Robert Deillon told reporters that the co-pilot, an Ethiopian man born in 1983, took control of the plane when the pilot ventured outside the cockpit. “The pilot went to the

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the White House has chosen — for the 13th time in a year — to make changes to the Affordable Care Act delaying its full implementation. The law is a mess — passed by Democrats, most of whom hadn’t bothered to read the legislation, without a single Republican vote. Nonetheless, the latest changes announced this week should embarrass even the most sycophantic ObamaCare enthusiast. The act was sold on the promise that the estimated 40 million Americans who were without health insurance would finally be covered. The law forces employers with 50

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning

Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. To help picture the future, Martin Vargic, an amateur graphic designer from Slovakia, has created a map depicting the planet with sea levels around 260ft (79m) higher than they are today. He imagines what Earth would look like if the ice sheets surrounding the North and South poles melted, releasing

Public Trust: Sixty-one percent polled say President Obama lies "some of the time" or "most of the time" on matters of national importance. Americans have to ask: Why do we let him get away with it? It´s no surprise that a Fox News poll of 1,012 registered voters last week found immense distrust of a president whose main domestic initiative was based on a lie. The shock is that the same poll found his disapproval level down to its lowest since last fall. Asked, "How often do you think Barack Obama lies to the country on important matters?" 37% replied "most of

Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture. But not everyone has accepted it. Cliven Bundy’s armed standoff with the National Park
