A Feminist Defense of Masculine Virtues

Philadelphia ´What you´re seeing is how a civilization commits suicide," says Camille Paglia. This self-described "notorious Amazon feminist" isn´t telling anyone to Lean In or asking Why Women Still Can´t Have It All. No, her indictment may be as surprising as it is wide-ranging: The military is out of fashion, Americans undervalue manual labor, schools neuter male students, opinion makers deny the biological differences between men and women, and sexiness is dead. And that´s just 20 minutes of our three-hour conversation. When Ms. Paglia, now 66, burst onto the national stage in 1990 with the publishing of "Sexual Personae," she immediately established

I agree. Must read. Never thought I would see this in print. Boys who act like boys are given Ritlin to keep them from being boys. Boys throw wadded paper at trashcans; girls do not. Boys laugh at silly jokes and bodily noises; girls do not. Boys build highways and bridges and skyscrapers and automobiles; girls do not. They are different and we should all be thankful for that. Our modern culture is destroying males and females. They all act the same. No wonder America is in the mess it is in.

Interesting article. She has more in common with Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage than she realizes.

A 50s childhood meant that you could like the things boys liked without wanting to be just like a boy. Cap guns, cowboy books, coonskin caps, all the rage with boys and girls and without competition. It was harmless fun, something that has been destroyed by Political Correctness.

Camille Paglia is the most courageous woman in America. She stands with giants like Clarence Thomas and Mark Levin. People who stand for the truth eve if it means being ostracized, shunned and hated by their "communities".

FTA: She proudly recounts her battle, while a graduate student at Yale in the late 1960s and early ´70s, with the New Haven Women´s Liberation Rock Band over the Rolling Stones: Ms. Paglia loved "Under My Thumb," a song the others regarded as chauvinist. Then there was the time she "barely got through the dinner" with a group of women´s studies professors at Bennington College, where she had her first teaching job, who insisted that there is no hormonal difference between men and women. "I left before dessert."

So would I have. I broke up with my college sweetheart after she took way too seriously the androgynous flapdoodle about absurd degrees of interchasngeability between the sexes that she was being fed daily in women´s studies, which is pseudoacademic foolishness being flacked by some very unhappy women who obviously knew few good men. Their loss.

The left-libertarian Ms. Paglia, like the late Christopher Hitchens, is the kind of leftist I like, mainly because despite her political inclinations, she doesn´t allow ideology to steer her opinions outside the parameters of intellectual honesty. She never pulls her punches. Bravo for her!

Her observations of the problems boys face are to the point in this politically correct age that finds some screwy, unhealthy virtue in blurring the essential distinctions between men and women, boys and girls. Manliness is what I learned, by example instead of by preaching, from my father. Just as I benefitted, my sister and brother also did so by having a father who is a man without ever having to try to play a role. He just embodies what it means to be a man in the very best sense of that word.

Political correctness and all it entails can be summed up in one word: Dishonesty. Paglia has been standing up against dishonesty - and efforts to shut her up for being honest - all her adult life.

If you´ve never heard her speak, you´re missing something. She goes so fast that nobody can keep up with her. She never loses the thread of an idea, never hems or haws or stammers. Her arsenal of ridicule leaves interlocutors speechless.

EVERYBODY on the Left hates her. The Right misunderstands her since she doesn´t believe in God of the RCC. She´s actually what IMO most of us are: spiritual without being religious.

Paglia is an example for politicians of all parties. She has no fear of the truth and refuses to compromise on principle. You don´t have to agree with her to admire and respect her. I read Sexual Personae in 1992 and have been a huge fan ever since.

Now let´s get this clear about Camille: she is an extoller of the virtues of Madonna, a woman who made her name by burning crosses in her music videos.

While I don´t deny the gradual shaming of masculine virtues, it has come about through the very fake feminists whom Camille has extolled. Camille needs to put some consistency into her arguments. They come across as piecemeal and disjointed.

Paglia used to be fascinating and Sexual Personae is a brilliant book. But then she went and proved that she wasn´t quite serious about her seeming denunciations of socialist dogma (disguised as "feminism") - by repeatedly voting for Democrats. Millions of people without the intellectual chops to understand Sexual Personae nevertheless see right through the Clintons and the Obamas of the world - but heavyweight Camille Paglia can´t? It doesn´t add up. The day she actively tries to keep socialists ("feminists" and "environmentalists" and "progressives" by any other name) from power, instead of inanely voting for them, is the day I´ll gladly take her views into consideration again.

Paglia identifies the “decline of men” (epitomized by Pajama Boi) as a condition mostly found in the denizens of the upper-middle class, although the evidence for inculcating “the masses” is well under way. Denying the basic differences of the sexes is a fundamental policy of totalitarian societies and is the logical extension of their denial of God: For it is in “both the male and the female” that the image of God is present and humanity co-creates life with the Father. All aspects of God’s plan for humanity must be distorted, dishonored, and denied for the communistic ideal.

Phil Robertson stands as a rebuttal to all the “cultural” lies. Phil Robertson is a man. An American Man along the lines of Daniel Boone and Davey Crocket. He is a father, a patriarch of a strong and loving family, and stands independent of the world because he is dependent upon God. That is why the Duck Dynasty kerfuffle flared up. The left must destroy Phil Robertson. They will not give up. It will fun to see. My money’s on Phil. Happy, happy, happy.

One by one, the myths of the Affordable Care Act have been revealed. When the curtain on open enrollment falls on March 31, the last remaining big myth of ObamaCare will be fully exposed: The individual mandate has failed. After a last-ditch effort with President Obama himself encouraging "young invincibles" to sign up before the deadline, the administration is scrambling to boost enrollment. On Tuesday, the White House announced that people who applied for coverage on the federal health-insurance exchange will have until mid-April to finish the paperwork. The mandate was supposed to be the administration´s magical elixir for the assorted shortcomings

Geopolitics: President Obama dismisses Russia as a "regional power" while Secretary of State Kerry pronounces the Monroe Doctrine dead. Meanwhile, the world watches, stupefied, as Russian ships move to our doorstep. Trash-talking a nation that just swallowed up a chunk of its neighbor and upended the global order doesn´t seem like a very thoughtful strategy, given the weakness of U.S. sanctions following Russia´s annexation of Ukraine´s Crimea. But that was what President Obama seemed to be doing Tuesday in claiming Russia was nothing but small fry in world affairs.
