Obama has begun repealing Obamacare
Washington Post, by Jennifer Rubin

Obamacare as written is already gone, dismantled by its namesake. Obamacare itself has not, strictly speaking, collapsed of its own weight. Rather, it has been changed from its original, unworkable form first by Chief Justice John Roberts and then by the president into some new, unworkable mishmash. Obamacare per se is already gone. The question remains whether the law in some form will remain or whether the 2016 contest will be about what sort of plan replaces Obamacare. The latter is the odds-on favorite. David Brooks on “Meet the Press” yesterday predicted (correctly, in my view) further undoing of the

Just as I thought: the journolists now perceive a disaster on the horizon and ate busily trying to save Obama´s lame-duck face. Well, that´s not good enough. Obamacare is one social experiment "gone too far", and it must be forever tagged to it´s deceitful authors.

So the Washington Post is saying this nightmare is over, ObamaCare is finished, and our country is about to be swept clean from its crumbling rubble. But the question is, “How much of the Democrat’s power base will remain?” In particular, will the tidewaters wash away the real threat to our nation – the media – which gave us this mess in the first place. The defeat of the attack on “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson gives hope that the answer to that question may be, “Yes!” If so, when we say, in a few days, “Happy New Year” we will do more than make a wish. We will state a fact.

Worse will follow Obamacare. Single payer schemes that throttles the economies of other nations that can avoid the costs keeping world peace will be enacted and our descent into bankruptcy will be accelerated!

Too bad there are no politicians or journalists with enough guts to give a detailed report of where the money really went. I´m talking about at least $1 billion, probably more. I´d like to see hearings, indictments, and disgrace. John Boehner, how about it? And what of the Navigators? Are they still getting paid?

Obama will hang on as long as possible for the control and the big new union bureaucracy with dues paying members. He never cared about health care or global warming, only the control of a dictator and the money. If the country can´t see him for he is by now, it´s hopeless.

No, #3. Just as impeachment would never get through the Senate, single payer will never get through the House. Quit being so darn pessimistic! What will happen is a taxpayer bailout of the insurance industry to undue the economic damage Odumbcluck has caused.

I keep visualizing Obama signing the health care law with various pens, surrounded by Pelosi & Co. Obama was smirking as he signed. That was an in-your-face expression, akin to his uptilted-chin look when he speaks or poses for phony photo ops.

Well, he is floundering and not so smirk-intensive any more.

But rest assured, he and his radical cohorts will find a new and different way to plague Americans. I saw on Fox News a few nights ago that he´s got a sweeping new bunch of executive-orders for his various Agencies.

Since that quickie report, I have not heard or read a word about it. Perhaps it´s time for someone to find out what those new regulations are for his EPA, IRS, NEA or other Agencies. If he can´t mandate one place, he´ll do it in other places.

Beware the Brown Recluse Spider.

The fact that obiecare is a 100 percent democrat-owned, unworkable, unconstitutional, unsustainable piece of corruption-filled garbage never enters their puny minds.

Obama’s plan is to ruin the insurance companies. Then he’ll blame the problems on them, tell the voters that the insurance industry is too big to fail and must be taken over by the HHS Department and a single payer system instituted.

He’ll also say that this is what he wanted to do all along, but the Republicans wouldn´t let him do it so the whole Obamacare fiasco is their fault.

#9 I beg to differ. Nibbling around the edges of the Obamacare bill only keeps it on life support and the Republicans participating gives life and credence to the communist democrats for future battles.
Republicans don´t need to be viewed fixing something they didn´t vote for. Bring back the old system and fine tune that if possible. Next put into law the forty hour work week not what the communist cabal in the White House declares what a work week is.
If everyone had participated in the ACA would it have survived? The tip off that the entire law was a failure was all the people/ organizations including it´s author and the signees being exempt should tell you something about the ACA´s legitimacy.
As long as Obama holds the veto pen in his left hand and Harry Reid is alive Obamacare will never be repealed. Obama will NEVER be impeached he WILL get his eight years and many more vacations and travel from taxpayers. Bet your unemployment check and food stamps on it. Have a happy New Year.

#16, the health care and insurance system we had before Obamacare has been disassembled and destroyed. We cannot simply return to it, because it no longer exists. That´s why Obamacare can´t simply be repealed. It´s just not that simple.

I hear far too much regarding the poor execution of Obamacare and fixing it or keeping the good bits. The government seizure of a 6th of or economy is wrong and dangerous. Discussing a better means of violating the constitution and abandoning common sense and the history of big government controls is by no means a sign of the leadership that will return us to path leading back to prosperity.

Obama himself is converting Obamacare into a nationwide high-risk pool for those who are too well off to qualify for Medicaid. If only the sickest and the richest among us have insurance, and the mandate that everybody must have insurance is unenforceable, the law will fall of its own weight. Premiums will become unaffordable for many, many millions in the middle class. Out of necessity, most people will start to experience private payment for medical services. Hospitals and physicians will have to put price lists on the internet so health care consumers can shop around. It will be an unfamiliar new world, but Obamacare might just have caused the return of the free market to medical care.

Insurance is a form of gambling and a very profitable one. The government wants BOTH the revenue and the resultant POWER which accrues to them upon their forced takeover.

Why would anyone want to partner with these thugs ???

Answer: They wouldn´t and that´s why there will soon be no more private insurance companies.

The federal government does not insure the lives of our armed forces they put into life risking duty and then kill !
This bureaucratic madness insures none of their losses.
When they attempt it, medical insurances, fraud, waste,
chaos follows. Destroying massive amounts of existing
voluntary insurances all over America, with "mandated" (that means FORCED, GOVERNMENT FORCED) bureaucratically mis legislated programs is stupid, ruinous and blatantly COMMUNIST, like prison camp communist.
Go back to the old, existing programs , try to clean out the fraud, leave young people ALONE to their own devices, stop eating junk food and so much alcohol.
Prepare for a healthy old age. This is a rant !

FTA: "For the billions we are spending on a million, at most, people in the exchanges, we could give them their own doctors and unlimited taxi rides to free appointments." True, but providing healthcare for the uninsured was never Obamacare´s intent. The intent was to control the people. To control their lives from cradle to grave. The progressive´s dream is such control, to make life and death decisions. To form a bureaucracy that can literally tell us if we may live or not, because the sick, weak, infirm, etc. is a drain on "limited services" and a threat to the liberal utopia. Just listen to Ezekiel Emanuel spout off what he thinks is best for "society" and you will see that healthcare was never the goal.

No, #9, the only reason that the 26 and under crowd was given special treatment was because obama needed their votes and support. That part of dumbocare was put in place well before the election. Now this crowd is expected to sign up for something they don´t need and they are refusing to do so - joke´s on O´dumbo. Same reason for all the exemptions, obama needed the support of the unions, etc. but now they are finding that they get screwed anyway because it´s a Ponzi scheme with "free" care being paid for by others.

The pre-obama system could have been vastly improved by getting the ambulance-chasing lawyers out of the system and putting caps or restrictions on malpractice awards. But congress is in bed with the law firms so that didn´t happen. That´s why you had doctors paying 100 Grand a year for insurance and passing the cost on to patients. That´s what killed HRC´s attempt at reform. With that one fix and the second step of opening up healthcare marketing across state lines, obamacare would never have made it out of the gate.

It´s the government´s fault that private medical insurance was imperfect and it´s their fault that obamacare is unworkable.

I suspect the name stays but the law itself will be gutted and entirely rebuilt sometime in early summer 2014. The Democrats are desperate not to have the first black president fail but they will be terrified of the bad generic ballot polls. This will lead them to accept a package of market based reforms if it can be labeled in a way in which they can pretend it is just tweaking Obamacare to make it work.

It is pretty apparent now that these socialists who want to redesign the world, don´t really have a clue how to do it successfully. So many regimes have tried and failed. There must be a fundamental reason why!
Because there IS a God who has an invested interest in humankind, these socialistic ideas will never work. Now what do we do with the shambles of our medical system? Yes, 2016 will be a very interesting political year.

I disagree somewhat, #26. The under-26 deal was to primarily to placate parents (mainly mothers) raising perpetual students and/or basement dwellers who "could not find jobs" and all that. If 50 is the new 30, then 26 must be the new 12.

#26 is correct about one thing. If Congress ever wants to have an "affordable" healthcare plan, the FIRST item on the list MUST be retort reform. (Check out what the state of Texas has done). Get the ambulance chasing lawyers out of the healthcare system. That in itself will reduce doctor and hospital costs by a large percentage. And open up the insurance business and allow it to operate across state lines. After all, every one of the 50 (not 57) state have an insurance commission that sets insurance rates for it´s respective state. Allow them to do their job. Get the federal government out of the healthcare business!

Here is my fix for healthcare to replace Obamacare: give everyone 3 months to sign up for insurance and require insurance companies to offer coverage during this period for pre-existing conditions. As long as people continue to have coverage--cheap and bare bones or expensive and comprehensive--they can always buy insurance regardless of whether they have pre-existing conditions. So if they lose their insurance with their job, they will still be able to get insurance. This will not apply, however, to people who don´t sign up. It´s their choice. The insurance companies can set up a pool, like they do for insolvencies, to cover the people with pre-existing conditions who are entitled to coverage. I´m sure they can figure out a way. For those who decide not to buy any insurance at all, they can buy during an open enrollment period but will have to wait for a year or more before they can get coverage for pre-existing conditions and will have to pay a higher premium. Health savings accounts should also be encouraged.

A key part of any Republican alternative must include a transition plan, else I think 20 percent of the country is going to be very, very angry. Like little children, the entitled don´t understand when the goodies are sharply curtailed. The just get upset.

Re #9: How long an insurance company will allow a policyholder to carry someone else as a "dependent" should be between the insco and the policyholder. Obama & co sticking their gov´t camel´s nose into the deal (I agree with #26, in order to get more of the "youth vote") is just another way gov´t works to enslave the producers to the non-producers. And coverage for "pre-existing conditions" is not "insurance", which is protection against a risk of loss. It is assuming a loss which is already established. "Outlawing" the pre=existing condition exclusion is not the part of Obamacare that "works"--it is a large part of what makes the entire scheme unworkable without massive intrusions into individual freedom. It is one of the primary causes behind the individual mandate and the ´essential coverage´ monstrosity that requires universal maternity coverage, universal pediatric care coverage, Sandra Fluke´s contraceptives coverage, etc, etc. Those requirements are, in turn, the cause of massive cancellations of previously just-fine policies, with more such cancellations to come when the employer mandate kicks in.

The real first should be removal of foreign ownership of American Insurance Companies! Next suggest that AARP pack their bags and end their schemes that helped push Ocare on to us.
American insurance of all types changed when all the profits from those protections headed overseas just as electric power became expensive when states sold out to foreign owners.

Proponents of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insist that the law will extend health insurance to millions, expand access to health care, and improve Americans’ overall health. But, as the New York Times recently reported, at least 20 percent of the new enrollees have not paid their premiums. They therefore do not really have insurance. But even for those enrollees paying premiums, having health insurance is not the same thing as getting good health care, or any health care. In fact, it doesn’t matter how many Americans obtain insurance under the ACA. Most will have difficulty finding a physician. Many Americans

Now the sleaze has burst back into the news with cases involving Chevron and Dole Food Co., this time with an international twist. Last month, a federal court in Manhattan found that a U.S. plaintiffs´ lawyer had masterminded a multibillion dollar fraud and extortion scheme against Chevron in Ecuador. Three days later, a California appellate court affirmed the dismissal of a lawsuit against Dole as a "fraud on the court" perpetrated by U.S. and Nicaraguan plaintiffs´ lawyers. These rulings are welcome

NFL players have Most Valuable Player awards. Major League Baseball players strive for Cy Youngs and Gold Gloves. For journalists, it´s the Pulitzer. Every year, when Pulitzers are announced, most of them are awarded to big corporate media outlets with huge staffs and budgets devoted specifically to the contest. But not always. On Monday, David Philipps, an investigative reporter for the Colorado Springs Gazette, claimed a Pulitzer for his three-day series, Other Than Honorable. Philipps exposed the shameful treatment of members of the U.S. military, many of them wounded combat veterans, in the drawdown of American military forces. Too often,

Another sob story in the left-wing media about Dzhokhar Tsarnaev? Yesterday it was the turn of The New York Times, under the headline, “Marathon Bombing Suspect Waits in Isolation.” Needless to say, the ACLU is up in arms. Boo-hoo-hoo. And if he were in general population, rest assured the headline would have been, “Marathon Bombing Suspect Waits in Fear of his Life.” Needless to say, the ACLU would be up in arms. This one was perfectly timed — on the first anniversary of the Joker placing one of his kettle bombs in front of little Martin Richard, who had moments

Four years after Obamacare became law, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is notifying Medicare providers and suppliers of new fingerprint-based background checks. Eventually, all individuals who hold a five percent or greater stake in a Medicare supplier or provider that is categorized as "high risk" will be subject to the requirement. The provision is part of the Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP Program Integrity Provisions (Title E) of the Affordable Care Act, and gives the HHS secretary broad discretion in applying the background check requirements depending on the potential for abuse, fraud, and/or waste. The new requirements are spelled

The Obama administration is just fraud all the way down. U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration is concerned that a crucial United Nations report on climate science may be too harsh in assessing the cost of fighting global warming. Such a finding may lower the incentive for the world to reduce fossil fuel pollution and feed the arguments of those skeptical about whether it’s worth spending money to curtail rising temperatures. Global temperatures haven’t risen in 15 years, but never mind that. Pay no attention to the Sun’s role in our climate. The UN report is set for release next week. Plenty of time to

According to new data from the left leaning Public Policy Polling, Abbott is not only leading Davis with overall voters, but by a whopping eight percent among female voters. Further, Davis´ has an overall 47 percent unfavorable rating while Abbott enjoys a favorable rating of 40 percent. Among women, Davis´ approval favorable rating is just 32 percent.

AUSTIN — A Texas judge was expected to seat a grand jury Monday in an investigation into whether Gov. Rick Perry abused his power by vetoing funding for public corruption prosecutors last year. Special State District Judge Bert Richardson was to oversee the impaneling in Austin. The governor’s office didn’t return messages seeking comment, but The Austin-American Statesman and KVUE-TV reported that Perry took the unusual step of hiring a criminal defense attorney to represent him. The attorney, David Botsford, did not return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment. In June, the governor threatened to veto funding approved by the Texas Legislature

The Pulitzer Prize board has just managed to do the impossible. It has awarded a prize that deserves to be spoken of in the same conversation with its risible 1932 award to the New York Times correspondent Walter Duranty for articles whitewashing the evils of Stalinist Russia. The award of the Public Service prize to the Washington Post and the Guardian for serving as a mouthpiece for Edward Snowden is an attempt by the journalistic establishment to put its stamp of approval on the actions of one of the most destructive traitors in U.S. history—a former NSA contractor who has done

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast
