This Classic Commercial Thanks Our
Troops For Their Service To Our Country

Independent Journal Review, by Mike Miller

Original Article

This Anhauser Bush commercial from 2007 says it best: we owe a debt of gratitude to our men and women in uniform for their service to our country. The ad aired just once – during the Super Bowl. Merry Christmas to the members of the United States Armed Forces.

Comments:
That´s all of the text. The video will bring tears.

Please, when y´all are returning that bloody awful sweater Great Aunt Gert gave you, look for those wearing ball caps with military associations--like "World War II Veteran" (not so many these days) or Korea or Viet Nam or anywhere they served and protected us. Hold out your hand and thank them. It´s really not difficult and you´ll feel sooo much better. Carry Kleenex. You´ll need it, just like you did when you watched the poignant video.

A Very Happy Christmas to fellow Ldotters and best wishes for the healthy cojones we´re all going to need in the uncertain future.

Thanks for posting, OP.

Why was it only aired once? Did the libs do one of their ´blast emailings´ threatening to boycott Anhauser Bush for airing something so wonderful? This should be an American staple every Christmas season.

Ditto, the thanks to OP for posting, and #2´s post about thanking a veteran.

I recently had the opportunity to do just that. I was seated next to an Air Force veteran of Vietnam who was wearing just such a baseball cap. That thank you led to a very enjoyable conversation that lasted for a couple of hours with this retired officer as he talked about things that had happened while he served.

At one point we talked about our appreciation for those serving today, and the changes that have taken place in the military since he retired. He said that he didn´t think he would be able to make it to retirement in today´s military with all of the changes.

Our military people deserve and need our support now more than ever. May God bless them.

My father is a WWII/Korea vet and still alive and kicking at 89. He has several caps he wears indicating his Naval service. He loves to be thanked and recognized. The elderly have a hard enough time just being seen (and appreciated) in the world as it is. So, give them a smile and a nod, veteran or not.

Brussels- Until recently, members of the Russian delegation to NATO were free to roam at will about the Western alliance´s headquarters here on the outskirts of the Belgian capital. The Russians had an awkward habit of listening intently to others´ conversations at the cafeteria, yet their presence was tolerated in the name of dialogue. Not anymore. In response to Vladimir Putin´s annexation of Crimea, NATO earlier this month suspended all practical cooperation with Moscow. Now most of the 70 or so Russian personnel enjoy about the same level of access to the alliance headquarters as journalists. It´s a small but significant sign

The Obama Administration will be adding insult with its cancellation of production of the Navy’s Tomahawk and Hellfire missile programs. These decisions followed by just weeks the decision to reclassify two hospital ships, 10 coastal patrol craft and a ferry boat as “capital warships.” The Tomahawk decision is particularly troubling, as the cruise missile has for years been the workhorse of presidents seeking to deliver limited, precise, stand-off military responses. During the 2011 Libyan crisis, the Navy flung 220 Tomahawks in support of operations. We launched more than 1,100 at Kosovo. About 100 of these missiles are used in an average

My American Enterprise Institute colleague Nick Eberstadt provides a reminder that the federal government has been a pioneer in producing useful and reliable statistics. It began with the Constitution´s unprecedented and, in Eberstadt´s words, “truly revolutionary” requirement that a census of population be conducted at regular intervals and that the number of representatives each state would have in the House of Representatives would be based on it. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the quality and quantity of government statistics has been deteriorating. Eberstadt decries in particular the government’s “hastily devised ‘federal poverty measure’ unveiled in 1965,” which

The vast majority of the country covered by employer-sponsored health insurance will be forced to pay a somewhat lower tab of $196 to cover the taxes. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
