HONOLULU — When President Obama left Washington on Friday, he said he was eager to soak up the sun and relax during his 17-day vacation in Hawaii. But on Sunday, the president — accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and his daughters, Sasha and Malia — hit the town, venturing out twice from their private vacation retreat on the windward side of Oahu. First, the Obamas headed to the University of Hawaii, where the Oregon State Beavers were taking on the Akron Zips as part of Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic basketball tournament. Mrs. Obama’s brother, Craig Robinson, is the head

The Hawaii Reporter ran the numbers on last year’s trip and found that it cost taxpayers more than $4 million. That’s some pricy poi.

We´ll have to wait for his expense report for this year´s vacation tally. /s

After the game they were off again.....~~....this time to dinner at Morimoto Waikiki, an upscale restaurant from Masaharu Morimoto, the star of “Iron Chef” and “Iron Chef America.”

No word on what the Obamas ordered, though the restaurant boasts a $140-per-person “omakase” chef’s choice tasting menu.

0bama is the chief embodiment and executioner of the ruinous ideology that is wasting 62 cents of every dollar spent by Congress on coerced income redistribution which has no basis anywhere in the Constitution. THAT is his worst crime. He can freely waste a few hundred thousand dollars here and there. That is not the issue.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. slapped economic sanctions on 11 high-level Russian government and Ukrainian officials Monday and also laid the groundwork for going after Kremlin “cronies” who backed Russia’s invasion of Crimea last month. “We’re going to stand firm in our unwavering support for Ukraine,” Obama said in a televised address. “The United States stands with the people of Ukraine and their right to determine their own destiny. There are consequences for their [Russia´s] actions. I believe there’s still a path to resolve this situation diplomatically.” He called on Russia to pull back it forces, install international monitors and begin

CHICAGO — Democrats have dominated state government here for so long that they even held on to the governor’s office in 2010 as their last governor, Rod R. Blagojevich, was facing corruption charges that would send him to federal prison. But now comes Bruce Rauner, seen as the front-runner in Illinois’s Republican primary for governor on Tuesday, who portrays himself as an outsider — the opposite, he suggests, of everything weary Illinois voters have seen too many times before. Both Republicans and Democrats are taking notice. No decades-long veteran of insular Statehouse politics, Mr. Rauner, 58, a multimillionaire businessman, is

The Chicago River´s bright emerald green in honor of St Patrick´s day is a tradition that´s been upheld in the city for more than 50 years - but how did it begin? The tradition has its origins in the city´s efforts to detect illegal sewage dumping back in 1962. Plumbers would use fluorescein dye along the river, which would turn bright green if toxic sludge was detected. The dyeing of the river is still sponsored by the local plumbers union, but now they use a harmless vegetable dye to get the desired hue. The exact formula is a closely guarded secret,

A Democratic lawmaker told the New York Times that President Barack Obama is becoming "poisonous" to Democratic candidates who are facing an uphill battle in the Nov. 4 midterm elections. The same poll shows that 55% of Americans now disapprove of the job Obama is doing as president. And according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, just 38% of Americans support Obamacare. By now it’s settled on most people, including Democrats, that the loss of Alex Sink to David Jolly in Florida’s 13th Congressional District was, in the words of the New York Times, “devastating” to Democrats. It’s a district Ms. Sink carried in her unsuccessful race for governor against Rick Scott, a district that Barack Obama carried in his two elections, and a district that demographically now favors Democrats. In addition, Ms. Sink raised more money and ran a better campaign than Jolly. Even Bill Clinton lent his efforts to her campaign. And yet she lost. What should particularly alarm Democrats is
