If Downton Abbey has a message (aside from the fact that you really can own too much silver), it is that life goes on. Matthew Crawley may end up dead in a ditch, but he leaves behind a baby boy for Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) to raise. Sybil, Mary’s youngest sister, may perish after childbirth, but she has the good manners to make sure her baby girl survives. The tale of how these two tykes grow up and connive for control of Downton Abbey should make for an excellent Season 11, but for the moment all we need to concern

Phew! Now that the V.F. snark is out of the way, I can enjoy Season 4 in peace.

Just watched (again) Seasons 1, 2, and 3. Don´t care what any snarky Leftist says, millions are waiting for the return of the beloved Crawley family and their trials and tribulations.

Can´t wait for the Season premier on Jan. 5th.

Actually I thought the article quite good and I do love seeing these two ladies who are my age bring it on. If it were my story I´d add a gentleman their age for them to spar over. Yes, love does exist among the elderly.

Former Pope Benedict, in one of the few times he has broken his silence since stepping down nearly a year ago, has branded as "absurd" fresh media speculation that he was forced to quit.Church law says a pope´s resignation is valid only if he takes the decision in full freedom and without pressure from others. "There is absolutely no doubt regarding the validity of my resignation from the Petrine ministry," Benedict, 86, who now has the title "pope emeritus," said in a letter to the Italian website Vatican Insider published on Wednesday. In an unusual move, the American Foreign Service Association, which represents more than 16,000 career diplomats, is expected to weigh next week whether to publicly oppose some of President Obama’s controversial recent ambassadorial nominations.AFSA President Bob Silverman, at a news conference Tuesday to discuss the association’s new guidelines for selecting ambassadors, said he would ask the 28-member board whether it wanted to take a formal position on three Obama mega-bundler nominees: Colleen Bell (for Hungary), George Tsunis (Norway) and Noah Mamet (Argentina.) Super Bowl-bound Justin Bieber arrived at a New Jersey airport Friday on a charted jet that reeked of marijuana — and he spent hours in federal custody while the aircraft was searched, law-enforcement sources said. But the pint-sized pothead, who according to reports burns through $8,000 a week of weed, was released from custody at Teterboro Airport when drug-sniffing canine cops came up empty. The teen heartthrob’s Gulfstream — with his father, Jeremy, and about 10 other party pals aboard — arrived at 2:53 p.m. from Toronto when federal Customs officials detected a strong odor of pot, sources said. “He came in, the

An attorney for David Wildstein — the former Port Authority official who oversaw the closings and lost his job as a result — said in a letter released Friday that “evidence exists” that ties Christie to the closings. “Mr. Wildstein’s lawyer confirms what the Governor has said all along – he had absolutely no prior knowledge of the lane closures before

A year after saying it didn’t matter what sparked the vicious attack on the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Hillary Rodham Clinton is calling the incident the “biggest regret” of her stint as secretary of state.“My biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi,” Clinton told an auto dealers conference in New Orleans on Monday. Clinton didn’t acknowledge any particular blunder in the days or weeks leading up to the 2012 siege that resulted in the deaths of four Americans. WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to sign an executive order requiring that janitors, construction workers and others working for federal contractors be paid at least $10.10 an hour, using his own power to enact a more limited version of a policy that he has yet to push through Congress. The order, which Mr. Obama will highlight in his annual State of the Union address on Tuesday night, is meant to underscore an increasing willingness by the president to bypass Congress if lawmakers continue to resist his agenda, aides said. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – President Obama compared the Republican budget plan to a "stinkburger" or "meanwich" during a speech here Wednesday, using a series of zingers in an attempt to strike a contrast with the GOP on economic issues in an election year. Obama, who visited the local Zingerman´s deli before the speech, said that Republican proposals to cut taxes for wealthier Americans and

In his opening statement during highly anticipated testimony Wednesday on Benghazi, former CIA deputy director Michael Morell claimed to be an intelligence professional who was willing to lay out the facts -- no matter how damaging. "I take very seriously the allegations about how the CIA in general and about how I in particular handled the analysis and the talking points," Morell told the House Intelligence Committee, in his first public testimony on the Benghazi attacks. "The ethical code under which intelligence officers carry out their responsibilities calls for total objectivity." But Morell´s own testimony would appear to undercut that

That official told Morell the attack was not an "escalation of protests," but Morell said he had to weigh that against analysts who concluded the opposite. He ultimately went

Do you think members of Congress are overpaid or underpaid? Most likely you’d go with the former, but Democratic congressman Jim Moran argues it’s actually the latter. In an interview with CQ Roll Call, Moran says, “I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid.” The House recently took up a bill to freeze members’ paychecks, placing another halt on the annual cost-of-living pay increases they would normally get and keeping annual salary at $174,000.
