Senate Democrat worries
about ObamaCare ‘meltdown’

New York Post, by Geoff Earle

WASHINGTON — Hours before the Monday deadline for Americans to sign up for ObamaCare in order to have coverage by Jan. 1, a Senate Democrat warned the plan could soon collapse of its own weight. “If it’s so much more expensive than what we anticipated and if the coverage is not as good as what we had, you’ve got a complete meltdown at that time,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) told CNN. After a series of delays and stopgap fixes by the administration, Manchin is pushing to delay the ObamaCare individual mandate — which the administration has refused to do across the board,

FTA“This transitional year gives you a chance to adjust the product for the market,” Manchin said.

Acknowledging that some will find [directly or indirectly] subsidized insurance that they will like . . . how do you "adjust" a much higher priced product for the majority of the market?

(0% of the "insurance" being forced onto the American public is in essence catastrophic coverage with a free birth control rider. The vast majority of people will never hit the deductible. even a fairly sick individual will not save any money.

I had to decide between two plans from work this year, a very high deductible ($4300)plan with an HSA or a low deductible ($600) with no HSA. I have two chronic diseases, ankylosing spondylitis and Crohns disease. I see a half dozen specialists 3 to 4 times a year, I take about 8 prescription meds, and end up getting about 1 imaging study of some sort every year.

Last year I also had the unfortunate event of a tumor being discovered on my spine (ended up benign, than God) which necesitated Several MRI´s, Cat scans and an MRI Guided Needle Biopsy at a leading teaching institution.

Total cost, including prescriptions, from all my heavy usage (from the EOB´s my ins co sent) was $19,000. I have a Cadillac health plan with an annual premium (family, all of who never went to a Dr.) of $21,000 so even last year I paid the Ins Co more than I cost them. Believe me, that analysis stunned me. I had had such a bad year I was sure my Ins premiums would have far underpaid my usage.

I still believe in the value of health insurance (one hospitalization would change that last analysis dramatically) but Obamacare is nothing more than a MASSIVE transfer of wealth from the American Taxpayer to a handful of large insurance companies and the government.

The average newly covered individual is going to gain nothing but a smaller paycheck out of this boondoggle.

So they admit it is a train wreck, they admit it is going to meltdown, they have changed the law (illegally) 14 times, they admit that they lied about it to get it passed, they admit it is more expensive with worse coverage, but they do not have the intelligence or decency to repeal it. The only conclusion anyone can come to is that they never had any intention of it working and the goal was the DESTRUCTION of the healthcare system in the US.

The Clinton Library took the wraps off another batch of White House documents Friday afternoon, offering new insights into how aides scrambled to address the Monica Lewinsky scandal, how the hot-button issue of race tied the White House staff up in knots and how former President Bill Clinton cast a wide net for advice in advance of his major speeches. The new set of Clinton documents make little mention of then-first lady Hillary Clinton, and so are unlikely to have a major political impact. However, many of the memos were written by or mention aides to Bill Clinton who now hold

WASHINGTON — The online insurance marketplace in Oregon is such a technological mess that residents have been signing up for health coverage by hand. In Texas, political opposition to President Obama’s health law is so strong that some residents believe, erroneously, that the program is banned in their state. But in Connecticut, a smoothly functioning website, run by competent managers, has successfully enrolled so many patients that officials are offering to sell their expertise to states like Maryland, which is struggling to sign people up for coverage. The disparities reveal a stark truth about the Affordable Care Act: With the first open

Connor Boals, 26, and Yon Pomrenze, 35, made multiple attempts to get onto Ground Zero before being arrested shortly after 2 p.m., law enforcement sources said. In the wake of the Romney/Ryan ticket’s defeat in 2012, progressive pundits engaged in a round of self-congratulation, spending considerable hours pontificating on the systemic and intractable defects plaguing the GOP. Some on the left observed that the Republican Party fails to appeal to young and minority voters because they are viewed as a party focused entirely on preserving the gains made by those who are already successful. They advised the GOP to devote their attention to the problems faced by everyday Americans, specifically those of the less fortunate. It may surprise you to know that partisan Democrats do not

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
