Cracker Barrel: Oops! We´re
Putting Duck Dynasty Products
Back On Our Shelves!

Forbes, by Clare O´Connor

I think we can safely call Cracker Barrel’s response to the Phil Robertson scandal a clusterduck. For those sensible souls not following the saga as closely as I am: the Southern restaurant chain became the first major retailer to pull some Duck Dynasty products off its shelves on Saturday in response to cast member Robertson’s now-notorious anti-gay GQ interview. Cue a barrage of tweets, emails, and calls from Duck Dynasty fans to the powers that be at Cracker Barrel, not to mention threats of a boycott. Now, a day later, the 625-outlet comfort food chain has capitulated and will resume

It took a lot less time then I thought for Cracker Barrel to figure out that a lot more down home people who like the duck family eat at their restaurants then the entire big cities gay rights population group many of who would not be caught dead in a Cracker Barrel or as Charlie Daniels said would not last more then five minutes in the swamps.

Um 14 million.....door slammed, while the less than 2%is catered to. Hmmmmm again the term "Dixie Chicked" comes into play. I am sure that some of the 2% patronize Cracker Barrel but it is the less than 2% that see and act like a family are respectful of others and don´t act like a peacocks, that do. Not the obnoxious, in your face, over the top all about me %2, the GLADD non tolerant of anyone else, 2%.

what c. barrel and Disney don´t get is that a lot of us out here are sick and tired of what hallow wood deems entertainment and the DD is a welcomed change from all the brutality, immoral, in your face TV programs.

So, all Hillbillies, people of Christian faith, common sense people who don´t let their college affiliations represent them, are hicks and are not worth the liberals vote, or money. Okay. We get it.

It´s about time that corporate America had a wake up call about the majority of sane citizens in this country.

Now if only someone would smack Disney on the side of the head, better yet, they deserve a Huge boycott for all the anti-family Leftists they support.

The people running Cracker Barrel are cowards and marketing idiots. While CB was busy removing merchandise Walmart was busy selling out of everything Duck. I just checked the CB facebook page and since this mess started yesterday the “what the hell do you think you’re doing” responses are up to 31,975. Heaven knows what they got thru the feedback link on the CB web site.

It´s stating the obvious to say that the Disney Corp. does not share the values of its great founder, Walt, whose commitment to decent, family-friendly entertainment won the hearts of America. But maybe the Duck Dynasty fiasco will remind them of who made their fortunes and who can take them away if they continue to offend our sensibilities.

Companies would be best served to put out a statement that they take no position on political and social issues mow and will not do so in the future. The products they carry or produce are not a statement of support or opposition to any issue. Its product line and services are a reflection of the needs of their customer base and that is the only consideration it will apply to its product line. There will be no comment nor response to demands that are socially or politically based. As a company it has no opinion on any matter.

Then stick by that principle. If a company decides to be lead by the nose by whoever seems to be screaming the loudest at any given time, this is the result. If you ignore them, they move on to some other company stupid enough to respond and drag themselves into taking a stance on an issue they should be ignoring.

It really is that simple.

"No shoes, no shirt, no comment" should be posted on every business establishment door.

Well then, it appears that Cracker Barrel has no principles.

If they thought such remarks were really offensive, and they pulled product because they don´t want to be associated with an offensive person or belief, then they are supposedly telling us that is their principle.

But then it hurts their bottom line, so they put the products back.

Which means, whether you agree with their decisions or not, they have no principles, so they should stop acting like they do.

People forget that Cracker Barrel was in its own barrel of its own making when it blatantly discriminated against gays in hiring years ago. It is probably due to the hue and cry over that raised by pressure groups like GLAAD that they were so quick to misjudge the Duck Dynasty controversy.

A huge percentage of moonbats eat only the exact opposite of what CB serves. Surrounded daily by moonbats, I know! CB´s management must share barely a brain cell between them...

(And fact is I now eat very carefully myself for health reasons and CB would never cut it.)

Maybe corporations are beginning to figure out that the silent majority has been too busy making a living to pay attention to the cultural shift. NO MORE! I pray this holds until at least November 2014.

In fact, the words Phil Robertson used are the same ones used in teaching sex ed to young children in our goob´mint schools, so why the outrage? It´s the religious angle in which God will have the last word. No doubt, there are caring homos and lesbians, but just knowing what their behavior is, is sickening to God-fearing people. And, a person can be homosexual but not act upon those inclinations. They are living a better life following natural law than the screaming mee-mees from GLAAD, et al.

Phil Robertson´s comments (total set up by a yuppie writer) were his own opinions, shared by more people that not, in the USA. God will not be mocked, so we better put our money where it does the most good. CB is not one of our favorite places to eat so they won´t miss us. Walmart was pretty much sold out yesterday on all DD products!

The duckmeisters have set panic in the politically correct crowd - several factions/entities in a tight spot - it´s good entertainment!
This shows the "cluster duck" panic of the non-principled suits who immediately bow to the perceived of every faction that screams that is painfully wronged - hope CB takes it in the financial shorts for a while, probably can be forgiven for fessing up their mistake (I am guessing the negative response was huge). I am guessing "cluster duck" will be in the dictionary is few months - a great new word/term!

Good. It looks like our home grown effort to call and email and vote with our wallet worked.
If we stick together and work together, we CAN turn this Titanic about to crash on the rocks of immorality, decadence and despair around.

First we have to stand up for our Christian/Jewish/atheist values and protect each other´s right to free speech and practice of religion.

We won´t be bullied by the gay mafia!

(Nashville,Tn area) They have certainly seemed to have lost touch with the people who have supported them for over 40 years. The move to
"pile-on" The Robertsons, ´Duck Dynasty´ was certainly a good old fashioned" Brain-Fart" Moment in their Corporate history. It was their Chick-fil-A Moment. Shame on them.

Foolish and premature decision by CB management to "hang with the homos." To reverse course so quickly is even foolisher. These clowns, like so many others in this once-great country of ours, are rudderless.

We did learn who profits from DD and DC merchandise, however. Leave CB on "time-out" for awhile longer - just for being wishy-washy.

CB did the right thing to apologize. And like Sarah Palin said after Bashir apologized, it would be small not to accept their apology. We all make stupid mistakes and when we do the quality of our character is revealed in what we do or do not do about it. They apologized, which was the right thing to do. Will I return to CB?? My suspicion: in addition to the feedback from angry customers, I think they got a call from A&E who are reaping the benefits of a Chic-fil-A effect. Taking PR´s Duck Dynasty stuff off the shelves costs A&E money, not PR.

Still, it´s nice to see that CB wants to keep their customers too. I won´t be patronizing them because the last time I went the food was lousy (after I´d raved about it to my husband). But maybe some people will come back.

I sent them an email yesterday after reading about removing products with Phil´s likeness. I said that they were cowards for being fearful of GLAAD. I said that if they lost 100% of the gay business and retained only 10% of their current business, they would be miles ahead. I suggested that they contact Chick-fil-A to see if they had some backbone to lend them.

Christians don´t hate gay people as GLAAD would have you believe. But we do have a right to our beliefs which do not include their beliefs nor lifestyle and we believe in traditional marriage...one man and one woman. GLAAD screams for tolerance and acceptance yet is the most intolerant and no-accepting group you can find.

Good on ya Cracker Barrel but you showed your cowardice.

My speculation:

In addition to the outcome of the quarreling and backlash re: Phil, A&E, etc. Cracker Barrel management noticed tomorrow is the biggest shopping day.

They also noticed they had a lot of DD inventory which would be hard to unload three days from now. And they noticed store staff was just thrilled to reshelve and redisplay right now.

Cracker Barrel moved lightening fast after hearing from customers. I say good for them and if we now say too bad you made a mistake we will never patronize your business again then we are showing the same intolerance the militant gay community does.

Remember when Jase Robertson was gently thrown out of a NY hotel. He called it facial profiling and said:

"The first thing that happened to me at the hotel was I got escorted out," Robertson said of what he called a "facial-profiling deal," as the Louisiana clan is known for their long beards.

Robertson continued to explain that the employees simply had no idea who he was.
"I asked where the bathroom was and he said, ´Right this way, sir.´ He was very nice, he walked me outside, pointed down the road and said, ´Good luck.´"

"So I circled back around and my wife said, ´What happened?´ and I just said I just got kicked out."
Robertson took the situation with stride and continued to stay at the hotel despite the misunderstanding.

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. Vice President Joe Biden really did get ahead of President Barack Obama on accepting gay marriage in 2012 — and the White House really wasn’t happy about it, despite the two leaders’ many attempts to claim otherwise. That’s the story laid out in Jo Becker’s new book, “Forcing the Spring,” which documents the past few years of successful efforts to expand the legalization of gay marriage, according to an advance copy obtained by POLITICO. Speculation that Biden’s comments on “Meet the Press” in May 2012 were meant as a trial balloon, Becker writes, came from people “not privy to the

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will headline a SHE-PAC rally in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 27th for conservative Iowa Senate candidate Joni Ernst, who has taken a two-point lead over a liberal Republican businessman who had been leading before Palin endorsed Ernst. The rally at the Hy-Vee Conference Center will feature Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer, Iowa´s Lieutenant Gov. Kim Reynolds, and Kay Orr, the former Nebraska governor who was the country´s first Republican female governor. It will likely also make it difficult for Democrats to use the "war on women" card in Iowa. State Senator Ernst gained national recognition for

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.
