Democratic U.S. senator says Obamacare

President Barack Obama´s healthcare law could have a "meltdown" and make it difficult for his Democratic Party to keep control of the U.S. Senate next year if ongoing problems with the program are not resolved, a Democratic senator said on Sunday. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who has urged delaying a penalty for people who do not enroll for health insurance in 2014 under the law, told CNN that a transitional year was needed for the complex healthcare program, commonly known as Obamacare, to work. "If it´s so much more expensive than what we anticipated and if the coverage is not

Manchin talks out of both sides of his mouth.
Either the Dems REPEAL it or they OWN it.
Manchin and other Dems need to put their Big Boy Pants on and demand Obama sign it and Harry Reid brings House Bills to floor for a VOTE.

We´re reminded from time to time that disasters on a cosmic level can strike at any moment -- a solar flare ´kill shot´ incinerating the planet in the blink of an eye, or a rogue planet crossing earth´s orbit and blasting our world into rubble ... I´m sure Manchin´s first worry would be how that might affect the Democrat Party.

What the liberal Democrats will do next year is sucker the wimpy Republicans into helping them "fix" Obama Care, then Obama Care will be there forever, and the liberal Democrats will be able to say that the end result is as much the Republican´s fault as it is the Democrat´s. It´s called political cover, and Obama will take credit for whatever parts of Obama Care a percentage of the public seems to like, or is esoterically neutral in the eyes of the public.

Agree with #7. A three legged stool here. First leg is the Bipartisan budget deal skewering sequestration. The second is the immigration bill granting amnesty to millions new Democrat voters and the third will be the "hands across the aisle" rescue of 0bamacare. I would sleep soundly if I were a Democrat.

After the Obamacare sellout (every Dem voted for it - every GOP against), we can be sure that there are no more blue-dog, or centrist Dems. Even Joe, had he been in office at the time would have voted for the Princess´ mystery healthcare law. It may have taken some arm twisting by Harry Reid - and certainly some ´kickbacks´ - but Joe would have fallen in line with all the other Dem ´centrists´.

VW needs to vote any and all Dems out of statewide office. Since Joe is not up for reelection for a while, the WV powers-that-be should let him know that he will be a high-priority target - unless he changes parties and soon.

#6: Manchin was a decent governor. But when he went to DC, he got that Inside the Beltway Virus that causes folks to wonder if he is still one of them. He isn´t. Got the NRA endorsement then helped Obama with gun control. Put a lot of miners in his home state out of work when Obama wanted him to help close the coal industry. His support for Obama is interesting, in that West Virginia voters never went for Obama. Joe is on the hot seat with the folks back home.

Essentially what #9 is saying is that since arriving in Washington, DC Joe Manchin has learned to talk like Obama.

Manchin is talking in political code about Obama Care, what that means is that the Democrats have to do everything possible, including suspending Obama Care, in order for the Democrats to get by the 2014 election. If the Democrats lose the House and the Senate in that election, both Obama are and Obama himself will be in deep political trouble.

WV is the last of southern democrat states. There´s probably a lot of legacy votes there because everybody in the family was a dem at one time, probably out of loyalty to the coal miner´s unions.I have to believe the average person there is very conservative on everything except the way they vote. Now that Obama has thrown coal under the bus, they may finally wake up.

I think Manchin has his eyes on the WH one day and is trying to position himself as an open minded moderate.

The obamacare meltdown is a certainty except if the republicans help out in any major way, like raising the debt ceiling significantly or enabling a huge tax increase to subsidize the sick. More severe arm-twisting is needed to coerce the young/healthy to sign up and that will create a new wave of republican voters unless the republicans start moving toward socialism too. Obama also needs total amnesty to offset that with dem voters, who incidentally will all be on the taking end of things. The end result of those scenarios will be a huge revolt of the working middle class, which will bring about even less money coming to the IRS and/or obamacare. Obamacare is one math problem that doesn´t have a good answer.

CNN reported a senior Malaysian government source saying that the missing jet made the detour after it had left the range of Malaysian military radar. The latest details emerged as new satellite calculations put the likely location of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in the same spot where Chinese patrol vessel Haixun 01 detected sounds coming from about 4,500m underwater on two consecutive days.

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

My first published column was in a local paper opposing the Equal Rights Amendment for the same reasons that Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative lawyer, campaigned on. As ambiguously written, the ERA, would eliminate the men-only draft requirement, repeal protective laws like sexual assault and eliminate the tendency for mothers to obtain custody over their children in divorce cases. Ironically, one of the arguments that helped sink the amendment from ratification was the fear that single-sex bathrooms would no longer be permitted. In addition, opponents of the amendment also warned that it would lead to abortion on demand and same-sex marriages.
