Cat Stevens Gets into
Hall of Fame After All

Look, I tried, remember? But while the good news is that KISS finally got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the bad news is that Cat Stevens (a.k.a. Yusuf Islam) will also be a member of the “class of 2014.” KISS led the popular vote, while Stevens brought up the rear. However, the Hall has a sort of “electoral college” that gets to override the people’s choices. This leads to a frankly bizarre situation, in which bands like Yes (10.88% of the popular vote) and Deep Purple (11.93%) beat out Stevens (5.37%) but don’t get inducted. Look,

Comments:
The Rock Roll Hall of Fame calls his conversion to Islam "courageous."??? Un.be.lievable. There isn´t one area of our society that the radical leftists haven´t corrupted.

The rider on the "Peace Train" now advocates killing infidels.

Letting Stevens into the Hall of Fame is PC run amok. I wouldn´t be surprised if he rebuffs his induction. Muslims don´t approve of music, especially rock and roll.

Being inducted into today`s RRHOF is about as noteworthy as receiving a Nobel Peace Price. Eventually, every one hit wonder will be inducted as they run out of acts to honor. Honoring Cat Steven`s is a joke. If I were a member, I`d want out.

But I do know Cat & Yes belong
And I don´t know even one KISS song

What a wonderful world it would be

Abject apologies to Sam Cooke.

I don´t care for Yusef any more than anyone else - but Cat Stevens´ tunes transcend Yusef, who is not the same person I saw alone on the stage of the Municipal Auditorium in 1970 or whenever, strumming his guitar (just acoustic, I think?) & singing his lovely songs.

Sure, I perform "Wild World" on piano almost every day, but does that qualify him for the RRHOF? I think not. Many other singer-songwriters of his era were more successful and influential. But sadly the hall is run by a bunch of effete snobs who think they are better suited to determine who is hip and who is not than you and I. After all the obvious choices were inducted, the Hall began teetering on the verge of irrelevancy. But look on the bright side - at least no rappers were inducted this year.

Cat Stevens was a sad man who wrote sad songs; Today he´s a sad islamist with more questions than when he was prior to islam.
