Target Customer Information
Shows Up on the Black Market

New York Times, by Nicole Perlroth

The nightmare before Christmas continues for Target. Stolen Target customer information from a security breach involving its in-store point-of-sale systems has already begun flooding the black market, according to numerous people in the fraud industry tracking the situation. On Dec. 11, one week after hackers breached Target’s systems, Easy Solutions, a company that tracks fraud, noticed a ten- to twentyfold increase in the number of high-value stolen cards on black market web sites, from nearly every bank and credit union. The black market for credit card and debit card numbers is highly sophisticated, with numerous card-selling sites that are indistinguishable from

FTA:

John Kenyan, a Target REDcard holder, said in an email that when he tried to check his account for fraudulent activity, the account listed only the total purchase amount, the date and the store, without listing the individual items purchased.

“This makes it almost impossible to check for fraud,” Mr. Kenyan said.

Does he not keep his receipts? We check our receipts against our bill. I knew I´d shopped Target since Thanksgiving. Found one receipt for December 3, which was itemized. Checked statement online, looking at activity listing, and found no other charges that looked suspicious.

The fraudulent activity I read about included things like attempts to use cards for transactions - one at a casino - for thousands of dollars, which were declined.

PS. If you do see a charge that doesn´t look right, the credit card company will usually provide a receipt upon request. You can question any charge on a bill and the credit card company/bank/whatever will research it. You pay it only after they have determined to your satisfaction that it is legitimately yours.

I haven´t listened to Clark Howard in quite a while but he was always talking about how competitive the ID theft market is.If you know the ins and outs of how it works, you can get top notch ID´s of people with great credit scores, relatively cheap.

One of the more hideous aspects of all this is Obama created a fraudulent agency himself in the form of Dodd/Frank.The so called consumer protection agency is as big a joke as Obamacare is and their real goal is pushing social justice loans while denying all sorts of paleface´s loans.

Target should be paying for new credit cards for all those effected along with reimbursing for any losses. Why haven´t we heard that yet? Why hasn´t it been started? They´re responsible after all.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

At least 59 people have died in Guinea following the outbreak of deadly flesh-eating virus Ebola. The first cases of the haemorrhagic fever were spotted late last month. With no known cure or vaccine, health ministers have warned people to stay inside while they try to stop it spreading. Symptoms include internal and external bleeding, vomiting and diarrhoea. It is spread by personal contact and kills 25-90 per cent of those infected. ´In Guinea, a country with a weak medical infrastructure, an outbreak like this can be devastating,´ the Unicef representative in Guinea, Dr. Mohamed Ag Ayoya, said in a

Shifts in rainfall, not warming

OSLO - Heavy rains from the Amazon to Australia have curbed sea level rise so far this century by shifting water from the oceans to land, according to a study that rejects theories that the slowdown is tied to a pause in global warming. Sea level rise has been one of the clearest signs of climate change - water expands as it warms and parts of Greenland and Antarctica are thawing, along with glaciers from the Himalayas to the Alps. But in a puzzle to climate scientists, the rate slowed to 2.4 millimeters (0.09 inch) a year from 2003 to

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — The plane must be somewhere. But the same can be said for Amelia Earhart´s. Ten days after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared with 239 people aboard, an exhaustive international search has produced no sign of the Boeing 777, raising an unsettling question: What if the airplane is never found? Such an outcome, while considered unlikely by many experts, would certainly torment the families of those missing. It would also flummox the airline industry, which will struggle to learn lessons from the incident if it doesn´t know what happened. While rare nowadays, history is not short of

A pair of potentially catastrophic cases will be argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday. These cases are brought by privately held, for-profit corporations that are arguing their religious convictions should preclude them from offering employees the health insurance required by law. Specifically, these private employers don’t want to allow their employees’ insurance to cover some forms of birth control because, contrary to medicaland scientific evidence, they believe some birth control causes abortions. Corporations are not people. Corporations cannot have religious views. If religious rights are extended to corporations, it puts us on a slippery slope where any private company
