Obamacare Is Falling
Apart Before Our Eyes

Weekly Standard, by James C. Capretta

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 12/21/2013 5:16:29 AM

The wrecking ball swung again toward the crumbling Obamacare edifice yesterday. Ironically, it continues to be the Obama administration that is operating the heavy machinery. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced, in the form of a letter to Democratic senators, that Obamacare’s individual mandate tax will be waived in 2014 for persons who had their policies canceled in 2013 due to Obamacare. At this point, after months of on-the-fly pronouncements, delays, and exemptions (often announced, not coincidentally, in the days just before a major national holiday), perhaps nothing should surprise us anymore about Obamacare’s disastrous rollout. But yesterday’s announcement

Comments:
Jim Capretta is the man who is usually introduced as the one who has done all the Obamacare homework and has turned himself into the foremost expert among journalists. Anyone who saw him debating Ezekiel Emanuel understands.

ObamaCare will be kept alive through life support as long as possible. Obama wants to force everyone into a single payer system. Destroying our present health coverage is the means to this end. This train wreck can only be stopped by Democrats fleeing or Republicans controlling both houses after the election.

FTA: "As Ezra Klein notes, what could possibly justify waiving the mandate for those who could afford to pay premiums in 2013 (for policies that were forced to be canceled by Obamacare) while retaining it for the uninsured who couldn’t afford coverage at all in 2013?"

This administration doesn´t think it needs justification for anything. What an unmitigated disaster. This "law" is indefensible and incomprehensible, yet they just voted to fund it. Unbelievable.

Evil is most concentrated in human government.

And this Administration has proven that to a point where even the most clueless among us can see it despite their fascination with their ObamaPhones.

And when it´s all over we´ll have thrown 500 Million dollars or more to the four winds for nothing but grief. Any numbskull can write checks and spend money with abandon. Any jackass can destroy something. That doesn´t require any brains or skill, but to build something good, right, solid and lasting it takes knowledge, talent, planning, experience, dedication, teamwork, leadership, sweat and courage, skills the Øbamboozler never had and never brought to the table!

In order to "fall apart" something must first have been "together", but this non-law never was. It has only one fixed end goal: centralized government-run healthcare. All the rest of it, no matter how many pages long, they´re just making it up, and remaking it on the fly, as they go along.

Pretty amazing that the people aren´t storming Congress, literally, to end this insanity.

So if your insurance was cancelled, you can go without insurance and not pay the penalty. But if you never had insurance, you must buy insurance or pay the penalty. That means that having had insurance in the past somehow exempts you from the penalty for not having it in the future. Can this possibly make sense, even to Democrats?

A lot of big help it is to get a "catastrophic" plan when your cancelled plan provided for your doctor visits, treatments, medicines and hospital admissions at a cost you could afford.

This is the most cruel and useless waiver yet because it is of no help. Just window dressing for a scoundrel and his scoundrel partners in the Senate.

Ah, the sound of crumbling Greek columns is a joy this holiday season.

What is so heartening about this article is that the Leftists radicals, including POTUS and his lovely wife, are finding out that coffee-shop legislating doesn´t really work in practice, in the real world.

Now that the word "repeal" is even being used in a serious way (another MUST READ), plus this article, plus Rip Van Liberals waking up all over the land, it looks to be a great time to gloat.

But knowing this bunch, they will create or find another at least one more way to torture America before they go down.

Zippie has already asked everyone he knows (including W and PIAPS) to help hem out of this mess and thankfully they will continue to decline. I can only hope our spineless Pubbies will draw a line in the sand and demand repeal as their only bargaining position. "No negotiations" as Zippie was so fond of saying regarding the continuing resolution "negotiations" back in September. What´s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, IJS.

Obamacare is a disaster. From the way it was pushed down our throats to the thoroughly unconstitutional way it is being implement, it is a scourge on the citizens of this country and a blight on this republic. Obama has 14 times made changes in this law that are unconstitutional. He has NO power to change any law and yet time and time again he does just that. Is there no end to his lawlessness? He is completely out of control and is usurping the power of the legislative branch. If he continues to do this, there is no end to his power. This is an extremely dangerous precedent being set. The law may be failing in every respect but Obama appears to be succeeding in the biggest power grab in the history of this nation. This should strike fear in the heart of every American.

Elections have consequences and that is what is happening here. The looming 2014 elections have the rats scrambling to save their miserable hides. If they can retain power they will be out to destroy Americans again. There is no solution to this never-ending recurring problem except to reform the government by introducing ways to expunge the rats from power. For starters their criminal activities should be prosecuted. Why should they be able to break laws with impunity? Why should they be able to lie with impunity?

It´s the old terrifying cliche, as taught years ago by astro physicist Andrew Galambos, "the tyrannical leader, dictator, creates a crisis, then rises to MEET the crisis".

In this case, president Jaret created an unconstitutional medical crisis for her sock puppet Barry, and when it all erupted into chaos for the peasants, he rose to the occasion 14 times to unconstitutionally fix the crisis.

Pity any citizen caught up in this trap, and accuse the Congress, Supreme Court and the entire Diane Sawyer
Commie packed media for allowing this continuing crime against the people to roll on endlessly.

It was meant to be a disaster. It was meant only to show how much dollar waste and forced taxation can be shoved down the people´s throats while the RINOS stand by mute witnesses to the ongoing crime.
All the silent Buchanan, Gingrich, Rove, McCain, Paul,
Rubio, Boehner, Cantor, Huckabee, McConnell, FAKE REPUBLICANS, not screaming out in unanimous angry protest!

This reversal of the mandate until 2014 is a joke. It fixes nothing but takes heat off the squirrel pawed president.
It doesn´t fix a thing except saying you wont get taxed. Big deal, when you already have no doctor or services that meet the Obama standards.
A passel of communist nitwits along with their leader have stolen money for a joke of a website that a Best Buy Geek Squad could have implemented and totally demolished a working health care system.
It´s beyond me how a pack of ´do nothings´ in Congress take this from this wannabe tyrant king.

Trying to have federal bureaucrats in Washington control the health care for 300 million Americans is like trying to control the traffic lights across America from an underground bunker beneath the White House, or from behind the curtain in the land of OZ.

It cannot be done.

Obamacare will fail.

Liberalism will implode.

The most offensive thing was how this exemption was "announced" in a letter to a few vulnerable Democrat Senators. Any pretense that this administration represents all Americans just went up in smoke, and if we had an independent media in this country, the flames of impeachment would be roaring. Or if the President was a Republican, of course.

This is a good headline and we need more headlines like this for the majority of Americans to understand what is happening regarding their healthcare.

Since most lo-fos are too busy to read an entire article, unless it pertains to them or their idols, the only way for common sense to break through their stupor, is by headlines catching their eyes.

The Duck Dynasty commotion seems to have broken through their stupor, which is good. At least the lo-fos see Americans they can relate to getting the shaft. It is a crack in the door to understanding what they are losing because of the incompetent, narcissist they helped elect. Now they have to ask themselves what are they going to do about it?

The reality is the Dr.´s of this country have implemented the changes to compile a national source of health records they can safely access, and death to billions of sheets of paper to be stored. But the next phase will be completely balked by MD´s and they have made sure the White house is clear on this. So much posturing. Talk to your MD and watch the reaction. Very refreashing.

What I find unbelievable is why every conservative organization hasn´t filed lawsuits against the WH for changing a law by decree. It´s plainly unconstitutional and even some of the liberal judges would rule as such. Even John Roberts. Of course his actions should be ruled unconstitutional, then Obozocare would have to be implemented as written. And that would spell doom and disaster for the dim party. Can´t have that now, can we./s

The old saying goes: the government breaks your leg then gives you a crutch and says "see you wouldn´t be able to walk if it wasn´t for us." The new old saying goes: the government breaks your health care system then gives you a single payer system through which they control your life and says "see you wouldn´t have any health care if it wasn´t for us." To which I say that when you urinate on our leg and tell us it´s raining you aren´t fooling anyone and it´s only a matter of time before you get kicked in your rainmaker.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the individual mandates included in Obama Care are taxes. Now Obama is issuing waivers that allow certain people to be relieved of their Obama Care tax liability while other people are going to be required to pay that tax.

I don´t believe that Obama has the authority to do that, and that never before has a President decided who should pay a tax and who does not have to pay. Doing that has always been in the purview of the US Congress in the tax laws that they pass. If Obama can do that with the Obama Care taxes, why can´t he just exempt his crones or other groups of his supporters from paying their income taxes or any other tax?

Re #36--In order to challenge a law, you have to show you have been hurt by it (in legalese, you have to have "standing" to sue). If they passed a law making it illegal to wear plaid onesies, the challenge would normally have to be made after someone was arrested under that law, by the person so arrested. In the case of Obamacare, the suits will have to wait until someone is actually penalized for not complying. A good example would be if one of those folks who did not have insurance in 2013 got fined by IRS for not buying insurance. At that point they could file an Equal Protection challenge, based on the admins´s decision not to fine similarly situated folks who had policies that got cancelled. I´ve read somewhere that such suits are in the offing, just waiting for the penalties to kick in so they will have standing.

I´m thinking that something´s up. Obama couldn´t stand the heat and he´s buggering out to Hawaii for 19 days. Good riddance.

Of course Obama Care is falling apart. It isn´t going to improve anyone´s health and is driving everyone crazy, therefore the number of psycho´s in this country has increased by 1000% and the number of psychiatrists signed up to treat patients has decreased to about 38. All this and only about 11 people have signed up and the program isn´t even operational yet.

Stand back and look at the condition of our once glorious country. Face it, we are on a downward trend that can´t be reversed as long as Democrats and untalented community organizers are in charge. They ruin everything they touch.

Despite the fact that the British system is a house of horrors and Britain has one of the worst cancer survival rates in the Western world, not to mention people being literally murdered in the hospital, the politicians there routinely must promise the voters they won´t touch the health system. This is much like our social security which has a horrible investment return, handed out by politicians to those who don´t pay in, and funds cannot be inherited. So what will stop the US from eventually be resigned to single payer?

Perhaps the fact that we have states that oppose this and all the layers of government that come with this will help save us from our own house of horrors. We have to keep the pressure on until this thing is deader than dead.

Great closing paragraph:

The Obama administration has decided on its own to delay the individual mandate for one group of Americans. GOP House and Senate members can rightly take partial credit for making this happen because they were the ones who turned up the political heat on Senate Democrats. There’s a lesson there. The Obama administration has been systematically dismantling its own law over the last year because it has feared the political backlash that would ensue if it didn’t conduct a partial retreat. The GOP should therefore keep the pressure on and see what other provisions of Obamacare the administration will throw overboard in a likely futile attempt to protect Democrats in the next election.

If there is any hope of ever getting out from under totalitarian socialism, the first and most vital step is getting rid of the GOP.

Rome is burning and all the elites are watching it burn.
Is there one honest person in Washington, who is screaming from the rooftops about this purposeful medical destruction of our economy? Washington DC,
District of Corruption, packed with some of the wealthiest people in America (all the wealth coming from the stealing of tax dollars, money stolen from the people).
Outrage for this planned destruction should be common language as we watch a vital life saving industry destroyed right in front of our eyes. But there is no outrage except for the daily voices of Ldotters, and a few others.
Obama´s criminal puppeteers are destroying America while their sock puppet boldly lies and golfs, and the TV Diane Sawyers standby silently watching the flames while being paid millions to SHUT UP!

Heyyyyy.... do feel very personally betrayed by an untrustworthy administration? Too bad. You all voted for the guy. You wanted it. You got it. Suckers! This nincompoop is a bigger better liar than Bill Clinton could ever dream of being. He lies about his lies then lies some more and people just blindly ignorantly believe him again and again. The Imperial President gets away with crimes every day all day long and no one says anything or does any thing to stop him. Failing before our eyes? It was failed before it started.

Now is the time for all Americans to band together and resist this Obamenation.

Stay away from the exchanges, and demand the repeal of this law.

Easter 2014: A celebration of hope
Fox News, by Rev. Dr. James B. Lemler    Original Article

Over 2 billion people are celebrating Easter today, April 20, as the calendars of Western and Eastern churches coincide this year, and these billions of faithful people are celebrating HOPE. The Easter message begins with the hopeful news that death has been overcome by life, that hatred has been overcome by love, and that sorrow has been overcome by joy. The elements of the story involve women arriving at a garden tomb and finding it empty, but even better, meeting the risen Lord, the embodiment of life and love. Their lives are changed forever and so are the lives of many, many

Chocolatiers love a holiday, be it Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or Easter. The French version of the Easter Bunny is Easter Bells (les cloches de Pâques)—which allegedly fly to Rome for a few days before the holiday to be blessed by the Pope before returning with chocolate eggs for the kids. But you don’t have to hunt very far to find French chocolate and pastry shop windows full of Easter eggs all trying to out-cute, out-class, or simply out-design one another. Good-looking pastries and other sweets are a modestly priced pleasure in France. But like fashion designers, French patissiers and chocolatiers

WHAT ARE the implications for Taiwan of China’s continued rise? Not today. Not next year. No, the real dilemma Taiwan will confront looms in the decades ahead, when China, whose continued economic growth seems likely although not a sure thing, is far more powerful than it is today. Contemporary China does not possess significant military power; its military forces are inferior, and not by a small margin, to those of the United States. Beijing would be making a huge mistake to pick a fight with the American military nowadays. China, in other words, is constrained by the present global balance

The immediate "crisis" portion of the standoff involving the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy over his cattle grazing on federal land ended last week. Whether this will be end of Bundy´s troubles with the BLM, who have been in court with him over his refusal to pay fees to them for decades, remains to be seen, with the Bundys reporting that they´ve received registered mail from the BLM this week that they haven´t opened yet. I blogged about a lot of the factual background of the conflict here, with links to some relevant court documents. This story

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

WASHINGTON — Daniel Swalm was researching his family when he came across a disturbing episode in immigration history. That discovery would lead to a move in the U.S. Senate to apologize for action the nation took more than a century ago. Swalm discovered that under an obscure 1907 law, his grandmother Elsie, born and raised in Minnesota, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship after marrying an immigrant from Sweden. Swalm had never heard of the Expatriation Act that required a U.S.-born woman who married a foreigner to "take the nationality of her husband." Swalm, who lives in Minneapolis, found out about the law

This “Open Letter to the Friends of Ukraine,” by a guest columnist who writes under the pen name of Irina Gokieli, dated April 19, offers the author’s pessimistic scenario of forthcoming events in what Vladimir Putin now calls “NewRussia.” “NewRussia” encompasses southeastern Ukraine and parts of Moldova. She predicts an invasion by regular Russian troops near the end of the first week of May under the pretext of restoring order, although she does not rule out, as an alternative, an alliance of Putin with certain Ukrainian politicians and oligarchs. Notably the author makes a persuasive case that the long-term consequences

Kennedy, the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show — get ready to add another: The presidential campaign of Barry Goldwater, the most influential loser in modern American politics. Goldwater was nicknamed “Mr. Conservative,” but now even liberals adore him. Robert F. Goldwater was “neither mean-spirited nor racist,” wrote Kennedy; he challenged

A three-year study of how network news refers to “Easter” reveals that by a margin of 500-56, reports that mention the word or “Easter season” choose a secular path linking it to candy Peeps, frilly clothes and cocktails over Christ’s resurrection. “Instead of celebrating Christ´s rising from the dead, the networks have made it about ´egg-cellent Easter fashions,´ frilly Easter bonnets and pink martinis,” said a report from the conservative Media Research Center provided to Secrets on Good Friday. The study reviewed three years of news in the two weeks before Easter and found that about 89 percent of the references to

Attorney General Eric H. Holder was reminded during a recent congressional hearing that he has been held in “contempt of Congress” — for nonproduction of subpoenaed documents. He interrupted with a personal rebuke of his questioner. Later, he suggested that questioning of his leadership, nonresponsiveness to congressional oversight, and referring to the contempt vote was evidence of racism. The accusation was made a second time, perhaps as a political stratagem, by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Let’s stop there — and stop the deflection, too. No attorney general of the United States is entitled, for any reason, to escape scrutiny of Congress,

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. “On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist
