The Tea Party is the only thing
worth a damn about the GOP

Daily Caller, by Jack Hunter

The Tea Party has had one major legislative achievement: the sequester. By 2011, the movement was able to exert enough pressure on Republicans to ensure spending cuts would be a part of the budget deal.{SNIP}For as long as Republicans have been promising to cut spending, those cuts have never come. In 2011, thanks to the Tea Party and the sequester, Republicans’ small government rhetoric finally got real. The entire episode of the Budget Control Act, from 2011 to this week, should make clear to everyone that the only way Congress is ever going to cut spending is to put a

Comments:
Huzzah Mr. Hunter!

The Republican Establishment has revealed a party built on empty promises to its constituents. The only people who can depend on them are the ones feeding them money and promises to keep your tax payer money flowing to their endeavors.

Got Tea?

The headline tells it all. I dropped the Repub. voter registration and am a true independent with leanings to the T (Taxed) E (Enough) A (Already) party. They stand for nothing else but small government, balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility. The MSM has labeled them as they wish. Both the Dems and Repubs are afraid of the TEA Party.

The thing I like about most sports are the rules and how the winner is determined are pretty unambiguous. Score more points, cross the finish line first, jump higher, whatever, and you win. Should there be any foul play or skirting of the rules, there’s an official or referee there to cry foul. It’s simple and, to borrow a word from President Obama, fair. Politics, on the other hand, is quite different. Truth used to be the most potent weapon in the game of politics. It was the best tool with which to garner the most votes, and whoever got the

The State Department´s international aid branch is bidding to prevent 54 million births and help 6 million people with HIV/AIDS in 80 countries annually via a smorgasbord of tools from medicines, the pill, IUDs, and condoms scented to smell like banana, vanilla and strawberry. In documents broadly outlining what USAID plans to buy and distribute overseas to help with birth control, HIV/AIDS, malaria and other issues, the taxpayer-funded agency revealed its population control and HIV/AIDS prevention agenda. Under President Obama’s “Global Health Initiative,” for example, the “goal is to prevent 54 million unintended pregnancies and

Recently, while working on a longer article responding to critics of my women in philosophy article, this author came to a greater appreciation for conservative anger over affirmative action. Those demanding that more women be hired in various academic fields do so with considerable sanctimony and callousness. They sanctimoniously condemn Lawrence Summers, ignoring that they are the ones demanding the jobs.{SNIP} But what goal does gender parity achieve? In practice we are asking someone to give up something very precious, simply so another may enjoy it. It´s hard to imagine anyone readily accepting such an

While standing in the symbolic birthplace of the Texas energy industry, Spindletop Boomtown Museum, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) formally announced his “American Energy Renaissance Act” to help promote energy independence through increased oil and natural gas production with strong limits on federal government interference. Standing before a group of energy workers and executives, Sen. Cruz began his announcement by saying: “Welcome to Boomtown. This place reminds us of how American entrepreneurs ushered in a new era for America, and for the world. This discovery [oil in Texas] was made at a time when America needed energy to grow and expand.

First conservative icon Thomas Sowell turned on Ted Cruz, now it appears that Ann Coulter is souring on the Texas Republican as well. Sowell published two columns this week slamming Cruz for being self-serving. Coulter praised the first of Sowell’s columns in a tweet Wednesday. Later, in an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” Wednesday night, Coulter doubled down on her praise of Sowell’s anti-Cruz column: ”I never push anyone else’s column but mine. Today everyone has got to read Thomas Sowell’s article.” During the “Hannity” segment, Coulter attacked tea party groups for being filled with “shysters” and “conmen,” naming specifically the Senate Conservatives

Sen. Ted Cruz said he doesn´t regret bucking his Republican Party leaders while trying to block a vote last week to raise the nation´s borrowing limit, accusing leadership of "trickery" and caving to Democratic demands. In an interview with CNN´s Dana Bash that aired Thursday, the Texas Republican said leadership abandoned the party´s fiscal conservative principles when it agreed not to filibuster the Democrats´ debt limit bill to allow the measure to pass on a simple majority vote in the 100-member chamber. The deal would have allowed all 45 Republicans to vote against the measure while still ensuring its passage — a

If you lend yourself money, should you charge interest on the loan? It would depend on how badly you need the interest income, wouldn´t it? If you were desperate for cash, you´d pay yourself a hefty interest rate. After all, you need the money, right? If you fail to see the absurdity in those questions, you might be a member of Congress. But what may be even more absurd than those questions is federal finance. You see, the federal government "lends" itself money and pays interest on those "loans." The prime example of this practice is the surpluses generated by the

The administration is quietly introducing “policies that would undermine the integrity and success of the Medicare Part D program” according to the subcommittee. President Bush signed Medicare Part D into law in 2003 to subsidize prescription drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries.
