Two Hours Before Obama Presser,

Early Friday afternoon, as millions of Americans who had their insurance plans scrambled to get coverage before the deadline -- which is just a couple days away -- the federal ObamaCare Website crashed (see screencap above). This occurred 20 days after the Obama Administration reassured America the site was fully-functioning for a "vast majority" of users. As of now, the site is not fully-functioning for anyone. CNN´s Jim Acosta reports that per CMS: "Right now healthcare.gov is queuing consumers. This system is in place while the tech team works on fixing an error". Phil Robertson, one of the stars of A&E´s mega-hit series Duck Dynasty, was suspended indefinitely by the network for calling homosexuality "illogical" and comparing it to bestiality, for trivializing the harm Jim Crow inflicted on black Americans, and for saying that Shintoism (which he likened to Nazism, Communism and Islamism) leads inexorably to violence in a GQ interview. However, conservative political figures from Bobby Jindal to Ted Cruz to Sarah Palin have leapt to his defense, arguing that his right to free expression is being threatened. If you found the above sentences kind of confusing, or aren´t exactly sure what

Senate confirms Mayorkas to Homeland

The Senate on Friday confirmed a controversial official for the No. 2 position at the Department of Homeland Security, despite Republican concerns that he´s the subject of an ongoing internal investigation. Alejandro Mayorkas was confirmed on a 54-41 vote. The path to confirmation was eased by a recent Democratic move to only require 51 votes, as opposed to 60, to finalize these nominations. Mayorkas, who heads U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is facing a probe regarding his decisions in a foreign investor visa program. Democrats say the probe has uncovered nothing improper. Mayorkas has denied any wrongdoing. But Republicans last week urged

The Senate has voted to confirm President Barack Obama´s choice to head the Internal Revenue Service. John Koskinen is a retired corporate and government official who has run numerous organizations in crisis. He´ll serve a five-year term as IRS commissioner. The vote was 59-36. The 74-year-old Koskinen has extensive experience in the public and private sectors. He came in to overhaul mortgage buyer Freddie Mac after its near-collapse at the end of President George W. Bush´s administration. He also oversaw preparations for potential computer problems associated with the Year 2000 under President Bill Clinton. The IRS has about 90,000 employees

Mark Obama Ndesandjo, who is several years younger than the President, described their father as a brilliant man. But he was also an alcoholic, a "social failure" and an abusive husband, he said. With polls showing a precipitous decline in President Obama’s honesty ratings, and two influential barometers of trust giving him “pants on fire” and “Pinocchio” awards for his ObamaCare comments, some analysts question if the president’s effectiveness can be resurrected. A Fox News poll conducted December 14-16 asked respondents "Is Barack Obama honest and trustworthy? Some 45% said yes and 49% said no. In April of 2009, when voters were asked the same question, 73% said yes and only 22% said no. What poll numbers convey in precision, two other trust indicators -- Politifact and the Washington Post´s Fact-Checker column --

Now that it´s been firmly established that nothing Barack Obama says has one iota of credibility, the newest addition to the "Shove ObamaCare down America´s Throat" Brigade is Mama Michelle Obama. Since she´s a mother and all, the White House has decided that she´d be a better person to promote the ACA hooey than Barack, who thus far has proven to be less than straightforward. Michelle Obama, who, Jay Carney pointed out, is both a mom and "a great messenger," is the same woman who once encouraged mothers across America to breastfeed their babies. The Obama administration Thursday night significantly relaxed the rules of the health-care law for millions of consumers whose individual insurance policies have been canceled, saying they could buy bare-bones health plans or entirely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance. The surprise announcement, four days before the Dec. 23 deadline for people to choose coverage that begins on Jan. 1, triggered an immediate backlash from the health insurance industry and raised new fairness questions about a law intended to promote affordable and comprehensive coverage. “This type of last-minute change will cause tremendous instability in the marketplace and lead

O ne year removed from re-election, President Obama´s approval rating has sunk to the lowest level of his presidency. Furthermore, Obama´s popularity among the Democratic Party base — whose rejuvenated support proved crucial last November — took a huge hit this past year. Only 54 percent of self-described liberals "very strongly" approve of Obama´s job performance, according to a Pew survey released this week. That´s down from an all-time high of nearly 90 percent, and a significant decline from the 73 percent who strongly approved of the president back in June. Why the steep drop? Well, the first year of Obama´s second term

Hours after we reported that Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson dropped some illogical “logic” on homosexuality during his GQ interview, his home network A&E decided to indefinitely suspend him from the show. While Robertson’s comments were hilariously ignorant, they were predictable — especially given his family’s socially-conservative, Bible-loving image. Suspending the lead character for his wholly predictable comments is not only an overreaction but a gross misstep. To recap: The Duck Commander patriarch remarked to the men’s magazine that homosexuality is on par with bestiality, and used fifth-grade “logic” to imply that homosexual men should give up their ways of choosing a
