Penalizing Those Who Hold
Biblical Views of Marriage

National Review Online, by Ryan T. Anderson

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 12/19/2013 6:20:11 PM

A&E enjoys rights to free contract and free speech in determining whom they employ and what they allow them to say. But just because you have a right to do something doesn’t make it the right thing to do. In a series of instances we have seen the gatekeepers of civil society attack those who hold Biblical views about marriage and sexuality—Chick-fil-A, Barilla Pasta, Craig James who was fired from ESPN, and now Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty. It is even worse, of course, when it is the government that penalizes those who hold Biblical views. That should be anathema in America.

Yes, it is anathema to America ! Until people get their faces away from Facebook, turn off the garbage posing as entertainment on tv, and the young stop getting their information on politics from late night jerks, I don´t see any changes coming.

So, this is the way the law works. A&E can determine who they will or will not employ, but wedding cake bakers and photographers cannot determine who they will or will not work for!!

An air search for the Malaysian Airlines plane that vanished off the coast of Vietnam has been called off until daylight as it emerged two passengers were travelling using stolen passports. Two oil slicks were spotted by the Vietnamese air force earlier today, as the major search and rescue operation was launched when Flight MH307 disappeared shortly after losing contact with air traffic controllers. The Boeing 777, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board, took off from Kuala Lumpur at 12.21am (4.21pm GMT) bound for Beijing, where it was expected to land at 6.30am (10.30pm GMT). MILAN — Foreign ministry officials in Rome and Vienna confirm that names of two nationals listed on the manifest of the missing Malaysian airlines flight match passports reported stolen in Thailand. Italy´s Foreign Ministry said Saturday that an Italian man whose name was listed as being aboard is traveling in Thailand and was not aboard the plane. A foreign ministry functionary, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed Italian reports that Luigi Maraldi had reported his passport stolen last August. Italian news agency ANSA says Maraldi called home after hearing reports that an Italian with his name was aboard the plane.

A New Report Shows How Young Liberals

New York Magazine, by Jonathan Chait    Original Article

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey

If 2016 brings another Bush-Clinton matchup, not all famous last names are equal at the start. The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll makes clear why it’s better to be associated with the 42nd president than the 43rd and 41st, at least for now. The poll has plenty of good news for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Two-thirds of Americans say they’d consider voting for Clinton in 2016, and a full 25 percent say they will definitely support her. Again, among all Americans – not just Democrats, or Democrats and independents – one in four say they are fully on board for Hillary Clinton right

As Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) sprang onto the main stage of the Gaylord Resort in Maryland, the venue for CPAC 2014, the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate quickly offered a warning to the thousands in attendance. “God Bless CPAC,” he stated. “Now I do have to start with a bit of bad news. I’m sorry to tell you, but by virtue of being here today, tomorrow each and every one of you is going to be audited by the IRS.” The audience, of course, appreciated his dark humor and gave the Texas senator a big round of applause. Everybody says something stupid and offensive at one time or another. But it takes a special kind of ideologue to turn it into a speech repeated over and over. And that ideologue is NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue. We missed it the first time she told a crowd that pro-lifers are “un-American.” That was at a Feb. 4 event in Washington, D.C. marking the pro-abortion group’s 45th anniversary (see video below). But Hogue liked it so much she said it again in San Francisco on March 4, at an event featuring Sandra Fluke, America’s most famous birth control user. And lest anyone miss Hogue’s eloquence,

The Dalai Lama has voiced his support for gay marriage and condemned homophobia, saying that sex is fine as long as it is consensual. Speaking during an interview with American talk show host Larry King, the Buddhist monk said that gay marriage was “okay” and a “personal matter”. He said: "If two people, a couple, really feel that way, it’s more practical, more satisfaction, and both sides fully agree, then okay!” On whether same-sex marriage should be universally accepted, he said: "That’s up to the country’s law.” And the Dalai Lama added that people should still follow their own religions’ rules on spirituality. “People

When a young British beautician realised relations between Russia and Ukraine were at crisis point, she decided to share her feelings on Twitter. Without pausing to check her facts, or her spelling, Gemma Worrall, 20, wrote: ´If barraco barner is our president, why is he getting involved with Russia, scary.´ Within hours, Miss Worrall, from Blackpool, was trending in countries around the world as her message was retweeted thousands of times. By the time she had realised her mistakes, and deleted the tweet, it had already been screengrabbed and shown on television programmes in Australia and Belgium, among others. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa joined Megyn Kelly Thursday night to react to the uproar over him cutting off Elijah Cummings‘ mic during a contentious IRS hearing, saying that accusations he was “racist” are just “beneath response.” Issa suggested Cummings’ outburst was a “pre-staged event,” but Kelly asked, “Who cares? Let him have his couple of minutes to rip on you! You’re a big guy, you can take it!” He acknowledged that in hindsight, he might have let Cummings rant, but it’s completely unjustified for any member of Congress to try and get his chairmanship revoked over the incident

So, Lois Lerner still won´t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. It isn´t hard to figure out why Lerner´s lips are sealed. First, she knows the House of Representatives can cite her for contempt of Congress, but Attorney General Eric Holder would decide whether she is prosecuted on that charge. Lerner need not worry since President Obama has

During his speech to the CPAC crowd on Thursday, Sen. McCain fired back at Cruz during an appearance on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports. McCain said he spoke to Cruz about the comments and it was “cordial” but he took specific offense at the remarks concerning Dole. “He can say what he wants to about me and he can say anything he wants to about Mitt,” McCain said,

Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

Barack Obama´s parents were "married in name only," according to David Maraniss´s 2012 Barack Obama: The Story. But since definitions of an "in name only" marriage vary, such as "a marriage of convenience" or "a sexless marriage," and Maraniss failed to explain his claim, it is unclear what he was implying. Therefore, Obama´s oft-told nativity story must be searched for the full implications of Obama´s parents´ "in name only" marriage.
