A hard pivot to… Aw, forget it

President Obama was serious when he told Barbara Walters that “the good thing about when you´re down is that, usually, you got nowhere to go but up.” He wasn’t kidding, but he sure wasn’t correct. Second term presidents usually go farther down in their final three years. Sometimes way, way down. Obama made his chipper assessment of his fortunes at the end of November. He was giving an interview setting up the re-launch of the weeviled online home of his new entitlement program, which, depending on how he is feeling on a given day, is either the Affordable Care Act or ObamaCare. The more correct monicker is "Democare," as Obama wrote not one word nor understood any that other Demohacks put in the thing. He only shilled it and lied it into passage.

We can´t vote him out now on its heals, but we can properly tag and remove the ones who actually brought the thing to its squalled life.

He is kidding himself if he thinks that he has hit bottom.

Before this is done many more millions of Americans will detest him with white hot loathing.

President Obama to urge $302

Politico, by Kathryn A. Wolfe    Original Article

President Barack Obama on Wednesday will call for a four-year, $302 billion transportation bill to replace the law that expires at the end of September, while repeating his pitch for tax reform to fill some of that gap. The White House didn’t say whether Obama will offer a full reauthorization proposal — for the first time in his presidency — or simply a “vision.” But he has been clear recently that he wants to use money from overhauling corporate taxes to make up for chronic shortfalls in the Highway Trust Fund’s gasoline tax revenues. On paper, the bill’s annual price tag would

When will the leaders at Ole Miss finally learn? When will they finally figure out that some things are above the pay grade of college chancellors and administrators? When will they learn that no matter how hard you try to protect students from the stupidity and hatefulness of a very few people, stupidity and hatefulness will always be among us? The goal of trying to make Ole Miss a hate-free zone is about as elusive as trying to make it an evil-free zone. And when will Ole Miss learn that no matter what you do, and how often you apologize, the national

Other big donors during the most recent reporting period included investor Rani Clasquin of Austin, $50,000; League City trial lawyer Ronald Krist, $50,000; and eight contributions of $25,000, including from Cecilia Boone and Suzanne Bartolucci. As colleagues in the Obama administration, Attorney General Eric Holder and Rahm Emanuel clashed repeatedly, including one infamous incident in which they cursed each other out. Yet the relationship has thawed considerably since Mr. Emanuel became mayor of Chicago. In the latest sign of the new partnership, they had a friendly meeting in Washington this week to discuss anti-crime strategies. As “frenemies’’ in the White House, Messrs. Holder and Emanuel repeatedly sparred on terrorism policy issues – particularly when Mr. Emanuel, then White House chief of staff, thought Mr. Holder’s efforts to close Guantanamo prison and bring suspects for the 2001

Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman won a temporary injunction to block his extradition to the United States where he faces narcotics and arms trafficking charges, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday. Guzman, who was Mexico´s most wanted criminal and boss of the feared Sinaloa Cartel, was caught in the beach resort of Mazatlan with help from U.S. agents in a pre-dawn raid on Saturday. The dramatic capture ended his reign as one of the world´s most notorious organized crime bosses, and was a major victory for the Mexican government in a long, brutal war. According to a Mexican justice official, Guzman´s lawyers

Washington´s green revolving door keeps on spinning. President Obama’s Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood has left the administration and joined an electric bus company he subsidized and praised while in office. Proterra Inc. makes buses that require no gasoline or diesel – they run on electricity and fuel cells. You can see why electric buses would appeal to cities that want to clean the air and reduce fuel usage: City buses run a predictable number of miles a day, averting worries about dead batteries. Also, a fleet of buses creates economies of scale that can make recharging infrastructure economical. Proterra

It is the night of August 15, 1973. I’m at Washington’s Sheraton-Park Hotel, now the Marriott-Wardman. The occasion is the annual convention of Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), formed 12 years earlier by, among others, William F. Buckley Jr. (Snip)Buckley, Evans, Tyrrell, Kristol: it was my great good fortune, I now realize, to be getting a glimpse of American conservatism’s past, present, and future. And this was on the high end of things. That night, and in many days and nights to come, I would be, as we would say at that old farmhouse in Indiana, “among the intellectualoids.” But this

The report came even as some Internet sites continue claiming that dangerously radioactive ocean water from Fukushima is showing up along California beaches - reports that have been denied by health officials and scientists since they first surfaced more than a month ago. KIEV – When the history of the bloody turbulence in Ukraine is written, a 26-year-old who learned combat skills in the army cadets may be recorded as the man who made up Viktor Yanukovich’s mind to cut and run. Cars toot a welcome and passers-by press the hand of Volodymyr Parasiuk, a boyish-looking individual who finds it embarrassing to be called a hero. He reserves that title for his comrades and other protesters among the 80 or so people killed on the capital’s streets last week in three days of fighting against Yanukovich’s police. But after opposition leaders had signed an EU-brokered deal

It has the makings of a royal mess for “King Barack.” Monday morning’s Supreme Court argument about the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases went badly for the Obama administration — so much so that the real question before the justices seemed to be how severe the EPA’s loss would be. The administration’s solicitor general, Donald Verrilli, pleaded with the justices to recognize the “urgent problem” of climate change, because the “threat to future generations gets worse” with each passing year. But as the argument played out, the court’s swing justice, Anthony Kennedy, made clear that he

Compared with how the Obama administration has swept under the rug the Benghazi attacks of September 11, 2012, Nixon’s attempt to cover up the Watergate burglary was rank amateurism. To be fair, Nixon’s team of Haldeman, Ehrlichman, Mitchell, and Dean were not in the same league as Obama’s, which includes not only his cabinet but most of the national media and much of Congress. If a president were intent on covering something up—something big, such as an illegal gun walking operation to Mexico or a dereliction
