RUSH: I forget if it was last week or the week before, there was either a call asking my opinion or else I just launched into it based on something that happened in the news. But I was trying to explain why the Republicans were not fighting back on anything having to do with Obama and the Democrats, and I said, "´Cause I think they´re shell-shocked. I think they´ve got PTSD. I think they´re scared to death. They don´t see Obama plummeting in the polls, and if they do, they don´t believe it. RUSH: Washington Post today, Chris Cillizza. "Meet the haters. We’re talking about the voters who’ve had it with all Washington politicians: President Obama, congressional Republicans and congressional Democrats. Despite their distaste for, well, everyone, when push comes to shove, these voters are lining up squarely behind GOP candidates for Congress." So in the Washington Post today, in a piece by our old buddy Chris Cillizza, the vast majority of Republican voters are haters. If you don´t like what´s going on in Washington, if your solution is to vote Republican, you´re a hater. Remember the woman who called here two weeks

Reason´s Peter Suderman takes note of a poll result that surprises him: Obamacare has lost the uninsured. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released this week asked uninsured individuals whether or not they thought the law was a good idea. Just 24 percent said they thought it was. In contrast, half the uninsured polled said they thought it was a bad idea. As the Journal points out, that represents an 11 point drop in support for the law amongst the uninsured since September. The same poll also finds that 56 percent of the uninsured believe the law will have a negative effect

Mall Carjacking Victim´s Uncle:

A relative of the New Jersey attorney who died Sunday when thieves shot and carjacked him at a shopping mall says he wants the perpetrators to die for the "selfishness of their crime." "What do I want? I want the punks responsible to pay," said Dr. Mark Schare, the uncle of Dustin Friedland. "I want them to die. I want them to get what they gave." Schare´s sharp-worded statement was aimed at assailants who approached Friedland, 30, and his wife, Jamie, in a parking garage Sunday night at Short Hills Mall, where the couple had been Christmas shopping. They shot Friedland, ordered

In the same week that Pope Francis was named Time´s Person of the Year, word arrived of the charitable contributions made by the Jane Fonda Foundation. Grand total for the years 2007 to 2011: zero dollars. The last time Ms. Fonda´s Foundation made a charitable gift, reports the Smoking Gun website, was in 2006, to the tune of $1,000. The Foundation itself has $800,000 in assets. Ms. Fonda´s representatives insist she´s made larger gifts, particularly through her family foundation, which in 2011 made about $350,000 in contributions from $7.2 million in net assets. But even that´s not quite 5%, the legal

Unexceptional: China becomes the third country to land a spacecraft on the moon in preparation for a manned visit. Meanwhile, U.S. astronauts have to ride Russian spacecraft to fix toilets on the International Space Station. Tourists visiting the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where one of America´s retired space shuttles now resides, were no doubt able to see news reports of the landing of China´s first lunar vehicle, a solar-powered rover, on the surface of the moon. The landing of the rover 37 years after the last such mission by the Soviet Luna 24 sample-return voyage in 1976 makes China just the

Global Power: For nearly seven decades since winning World War II, an America trusted by its allies has enjoyed superpower status. Now new alliances in both Asia and the Middle East confirm our steepening decline. Beyond ICBMs and advanced aircraft carriers, will and power are what make a nation a force to be reckoned with. When Argentina invaded the Falklands in 1982, every one of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher´s civilian advisers told her that "recapture was all but impossible," Charles Moore recounted in his new biography of the Iron Lady. Then Adm. Sir Henry Leach, the First Sea Lord, asked to launch

Kathleen Sebelius went to bat for Obamacare navigators in an op-ed prior to a hearing led by Darrell Issa investigating the people designated to promote the health-care law as “navigators.” She accused the House Oversight Committee chairman of holding a field hearing in Dallas “designed to stifle, intimidate and impugn the reputation of people who have been working hard to help their fellow Texans get covered.” In the Dallas Morning News, Sebelius urged Republicans on the committee to stop “demonizing, demoralizing or deterring” navigators, praising the navigators for their efforts. She wrote navigators are “not paid to sell insurance,” but to

They´re unable to do that, and they will never succeed, by the way, in eliminating Christmas from our minds, from our hearts, from our faith. They will never succeed. All they can do is raise a ruckus about nativity scenes or other public displays, outlawing Christmas carols or not being allowed to say "Merry Christmas" but having to say "happy holidays." They can do all of that they want. They can tinker

As thousands of state residents enroll in Washington’s expanded Medicaid program, many will be surprised at fine print: After you’re dead, your estate can be billed for ordinary health-care expenses. The way Prins saw it, that meant health insurance via Medicaid is hardly “free” for Washington residents 55 or older. It’s a loan . . .

Valerie Jarrett, Obama´s Rasputin, unwittingly provided us an answer to the question of why the Obama Presidency is such a man-caused disaster. There are few people who are close to the notoriously insular Barack Obama (a former aide, Neera Tanden, said that "Obama doesn´t call anyone, and he´s not close to almost anyone. It´s stunning that he´s in politics, because he really doesn´t like people") but Valerie Jarrett is among the select few. Sure, he likely didn’t mean anything overtly sexual by it. But Vice President Joe Biden is a folksy kind of guy who has officially entered dirty old man territory and done something sure to elicit laughs within the White House Press Corps. Look how he’s manhandling The Hill‘s White House Correspondent Aime Parnes for this photograph taken at a recent holiday party that she posted on her Facebook page. For most people’s tastes he’s grazing way too close to the vicinity of her abdomen. And watch her reaction. Is it shock, awe, utter disbelief? Whatever the expression, she appeared to

Michelle Obama has once again stepped out in her $6,800 J Mendel jacket, despite fielding a backlash last time she wore the pricey garment. [Snip] But the last time she wore the embellished garment, in July 2012 at a Buckingham Palace reception in London, political commentators took issue with the fact that she had spent so much on fashion while so many in the U.S. are suffering financially. A post on the Gateway Pundit blog remarked that the design ´cost more than the average American family makes in a month ($4,284)´. ´She does this as Americans continue to suffer through a

The universe is a hologram and everything you can see - including this article and the device you are reading it on - is a mere projection. This is according to a controversial model proposed in 1997 by theoretical physicist Juan Maldacena. Until now the bizarre theory had never been tested, but recent mathematical models suggest that the mind-boggling principle could be true. According to the theory, gravity in the universe comes from thin, vibrating strings. These strings are holograms of events that take place in a simpler, flatter cosmos. Professor Maldacena´s model suggests that the universe exists in nine

Reportage of last week´s Nelson Mandela funeral reveals clearly enough that President Obama has reached the point in his tenure where everything ceases to go right -- when even the most serious and determined efforts deteriorate into a hash, or worse, a joke. This happens to everyone in public life eventually, politicians above all. The original attraction wears thin, flaws appear more prominently, styles and opinions change. There is little the individual can do to avoid this.(snip)The Mandela funeral shows that Obama is deep into this phase of his career, and has landed on his head.

London – Large tapestry portraits of President Barack Obama were unveiled for guests at the U.S. Embassy in London over the weekend. The recently-installed, large-scale tapestry portraits were created by National Medal of Arts winner and renowned American painter, photographer Chuck Close. Close created the portraits by compiling and interweaving Polaroids of the president from an hour-long photo shoot done the summer before, the Washington Post reports. The portraits are nearly 8 feet tall and more than 6 feet wide, with the final piece looking like photos but feeling like textiles. Close used one photo of Obama smiling and another

Lobbyists and the GOP political establishment applauded Speaker John Boehner´s strident attacks against the Tea Party and conservatives as the House prepared to approve the Ryan-Murray budget deal. Boehner hadsaid that conservative groups had "lost all credibility" for opposing a budget deal that increases the national debt. While business groups may get a tingle hearing Boehner´s harsh words, one wonders how alienating the grass roots will help them curtail the next government overreach. “You didn´t hear all the applause across downtown?” Dirk Van Dongen, a top GOP lobbyist with the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) said about Boehner´s remarks. “Folks

House Speaker John Boehner checked off the final items on his list of year-end legislation Thursday, dismissing lawmakers for a 25-day holiday recess. The House came together in rare bipartisan fashion to pass the budget deal, approve the National Defense Authorization Act, extend farm law through the end of next month and temporarily delay cuts to doctors’ Medicare payments. But left undone was one major piece of legislation: an extension of long-term unemployment benefits. Although the benefits could be extended retroactively, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid acknowledged this week, 1.3 million Americans are set to lose them Dec. 28.

Washington -National Security Agency officials are considering a controversial amnesty that would return Edward Snowden to the United States, in exchange for the extensive document trove the whistleblower took from the agency. An amnesty, which does not have the support of the State Department, would represent a surprising denouement to an international drama that has lasted half a year. It is particularly unexpected from a surveillance agency that has spent months insisting that Snowden’s disclosures have caused vast damage to US national security. The NSA official in charge of assessing the alleged damage caused by Snowden’s leaks, Richard Ledgett, told
