Roger Waters: Israel is a
‘racist apartheid regime´

Cybercast News Service, by James Beattie

Roger Waters, formerly of 1970s rock giant Pink Floyd, told Counterpunch Magazine in an interview earlier this month that he maintains a cultural boycott of Israel because of their government’s “ethnic cleansing” and is a “racist apartheid ... regime.” Waters is a big proponent for pro-Palestinian causes. The man best known for Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall spoke last year at the United Nations General Assembly as Palestinians won recognition from the world body as a non-observer state. In an interview printed Dec. 6, Waters spoke with Frank Barat of Counterpunch magazine about his latest tour and

Roger Waters, rock and roll´s equivalent of Yasser Arafat, is as irredeemable as Michael Moore. Yes, Pink Floyd´s music was a rite of passage for many of my fellow Boomers in our college and young adult years, but Waters´s rabid leftism definitely put a cap on the pleasure. On solo tour in Tampa in 2004, Waters delivered a harangue on GWB which was booed by half the crowd. A very unpleasant fellow he is. Someday he´s going to regret having been the way he has been.

A washed-up, pot-addled, nasty hippie has found two liberal brain cells to rub together. The miracle is that those horrid thoughts can still form words and find their way to his mouth. Who cares?

Waters is still performing that same insipid ´The Wall´ show and I am sorry but it is now and always was painfully pretentious.

Who was celebrating wildly as the WTC North and WTC South towers lay in a smoking, burning seven story high pile of rubble? The so-called Palestinians, of course.

But to be seen as open-minded in the moral sewer of modernity, some screw-headed public figures like Waters find it irresistable to embrace evil and its unapologetic practitioners. See how open-minded I am? he says. I won´t even take my own side in an argument!

Waters wrote almost all of Pink Floyd´s songs and was the only serviceable lyricist in the group after group founder Roger "Syd" Barrett´s LSD-fueled psychological disintegration in 1968. But musically, the two most important members of Floyd were (the magnificent) lead guitarist and chief singer David Gilmour--Barrett´s replacement--and keyboard specialist Rick Wright, who passed away in 2008 after a short battle with cancer.

Waters is so blatantly political he couldn´t even resist making digs at American Republicans like GWB in the DVD about the making of Dark Side of the Moon. Gilmour, Wright, and drummer Nick Mason restricted their commentary to the creation of the music, bless them. That´s all we wanted to hear about, anyway. Poisoned inside, Waters is a bore and a boor.

Stock markets around the world fell today, led by the 246 point dive, or 1.5%, for the U.S. Dow Jones Industrial Average and the 1.9% drop for German stock market index. Analysts generally pointed to worries about a shrinking Chinese lending and the potential trade war between Russia and the West, but I am more concerned that since the beginning of 2014 food prices have skyrocketed. The Federal Reserve must be concerned that their international support for “cheap money policies” to stimulate economic growth may be funding commodity speculation that is driving prices higher and creating wide spread misery.
