ObamaCare: 5 Land Mines
Dead Ahead For Health Law

Investor´s Business Daily, by John Merline

With support for ObamaCare hitting all-time lows, the administration continues to cling to one bit of good news — the federal exchange website is working better than before. Healthcare.gov is "night and day compared to where we were back in October," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told a House committee last week. And the insurance industry — which didn´t want to send people to a bug-filled website — is starting to unleash various ad campaigns. But getting people to enroll is just one of many problems facing ObamaCare. Several other land mines could cause further damage over the

The landmines will explode when People are forced to live under the dictates of panels deciding their care.
I do not have Obamacare, but for the first time in my life I have been denied a pill form medication for asthma and allergies combined. They suggested nebulizers which treat the asthma but NOT the allergies. The reason given, cost. Evidently a pencil pusher will decide what illness to treat, and which to ignore..NOT my doctor.

I see a list of landmines for the public, and the insurance companies, resulting in declining public opinion, but nothing leading to repeal of the law.

All I see are democrats and the GOP establishment arguing over ways to "fix" the problems or delay the implementation. The GOP leadership has clearly abandoned any pretense of getting rid of this statist monstrosity, because they like statism.

So, those of you who hanging on to the belief that the GOP leadership is actually going to do anything to stop or repeal Obamacare need to look at what they are actually doing.

They are compromising their way towards full entrenchment of the law, while jumping in front of cameras to tell you how bad they think it is, pleading how powerless they are to do anything about it.

The web site is a mask for the total incompetence and corruption of all of them...the real issue is the total fraud and lies told to illegally pass the bill in the first place.

Thanks a lot Roberts, you shill, you know nothing about what is right. Making up words to overlay the fees as taxes is a fraud, you should be impeached and sent packing.

I don´t think the administration is concerned about the massive costs of Obamacare. They´ll just print more money and have various subsidizing schemes. The real impact is when employer-based plans get downgraded or dropped altogether. And then there is the Obamacare tax on so-called ´Cadillac´ plans that doesn´t kick in for 4 more years. But ´Bam will be safely off to his next career by then.

How is it ´gaming the system´ to ´float´ uninsured and then buy insurance when you get sick, when that is one of the features of Obamacare? And how is it ´insurance´ when you can buy it when you need it? That isn´t insurance, it´s ´Here, you pay for my treatment.´.

President Obama might be thrilled that 7.1 million people apparently signed up for ObamaCare exchanges. But doctors have good reason to withhold their applause. Back in June 2009, Obama told a gathering of the American Medical Association that he was "looking at a range of ideas" that would stem the tide of costly medical malpractice lawsuits and "scale back the excessive defensive medicine." A few months later, he told Congress that "I´ve talked to enough doctors to know that defensive medicine may be contributing to unnecessary costs" and that he would borrow a page from President Bush and fund demonstration projects for

Bias: How much abuse will the mainstream media take before they stand up for themselves? When the abuse comes from the Obama administration, their tolerance appears to be unlimited. This week, for example, two things happened that should have sent reporters into a frenzy of outrage. First, there were reports that the Obama administration has effectively crippled the Freedom of Information Act, despite Obama´s promise of unequaled transparency. Nearly half the federal agencies got an F grade for FOIA compliance, according to a Center for Effective Government report. And Cause of Action discovered that the administration had created a new FOIA exemption,

Why Is the ObamaCare Mandate So Toothless?

Health Care: Some think Democrats designed ObamaCare to fail so they could get to a single payer system. Seems a bit extreme. But it does help explain why they made the individual mandate so easy to avoid. According to ObamaCare´s architects, the individual mandate is key to making the law work. The mandate is supposed to force young and healthy people to enroll so they can subsidize premiums for the older and sicker. Otherwise, ObamaCare rates will spiral out of control. (Which already appears to be happening, according to TheHill.com.) The mandate is also supposed to prevent gaming the system — wherein people

Judging Obama´s Economy

President Obama gave a speech recently in which he, as he almost always does, patted himself on the back for what he described as a solid record on the economy. "We´ve now seen over four years of economic growth," he said. "We´ve seen 8.5 million new jobs created. We´ve seen the housing market bounce back. We´ve seen an auto industry that has come roaring back. We´ve seen manufacturing return for the first time since the 1990s." Obamaphiles in the press typically repeat these claims, arguing that, given the mess he inherited, no one could have done any better. But is that true? And

Another ObamaCare

Health Care: The administration issued new rules last week to spare President Obama more political damage from his phony "keep your doctor" promise. But in so doing, they´ve set in motion another ObamaCare rate shock. Soon after enrolling in ObamaCare, many people discovered the high cost of believing Obama´s promises. Not only were millions required to change plans, but many learned that their "new-and-improved" ObamaCare plans forced them to give up their doctors and hospitals, too. Turns out that insurers — desperate to keep premiums as low as they could in the face of ObamaCare´s costly benefit mandates, taxes and

Health Care: ObamaCare is turning out like the nine-headed Hydra monster of Greek mythology. Every time President Obama tries to lop off one of its failures, two more emerge. Recent news provides a good case in point. On Wednesday, Obama decreed that those who had plans they liked before ObamaCare could keep them for two more years. The move helped solve a huge political problem Obama himself created when he first made it possible for some people to keep plans they liked. Obama had allowed just a one-year extension — where he gets the authority to do any of this is beyond us

Economy: When not making excuses for President Obama´s dismal economic record, liberals try to explain away Texas´ stellar growth. But what choice do they have? The Lone Star State proves limited government works. After Gov. Rick Perry entered the presidential primaries in 2011, the left made a determined effort to dismiss the fact that his state had outperformed the rest of the country. Economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman called it the "Texas Unmiracle." Time magazine dismissed Texas´ burgeoning growth as mere luck. Others chimed in along the same lines, insisting that low taxes, limited government spending and a business-friendly

To say that President Obama is not an enthusiastic backer of the two Medicare programs that offer seniors private insurance options would be something of an understatement. Over the years, Obama has repeatedly derided Medicare Advantage — the program that lets seniors enroll in subsidized, private insurance. He once called it "wasteful," and said it amounted to "giveaways that boost insurance company profits but don´t make (seniors) any healthier." Obama has been equally harsh when it comes to Medicare Part D — the drug benefit President Bush signed into law that relies on privately run plans. In his 2006 book,

The report came from the actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services — which means it´s from the administration´s official ObamaCare number cruncher. If you´re the president, you call it "safe," "reliable," "green" and worthy of massive taxpayer subsidies. That, at least, is the case with the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating Station that covers a vast area of desert outside Las Vegas and, thanks to the generous support of the Obama administration, has officially opened. The plant points hundreds of thousands of mirrors at three towers to boil turbine-spinning water. But the heat rays aren´t very friendly to the area´s birds, including falcons,

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. All along, the administration has neglected to admit that Obamacare is

Obama, who visited the local Zingerman´s deli before the speech, said that Republican proposals to cut taxes for wealthier Americans and

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
