It’s a Man’s World, And It Always Will Be
Time Magazine, by Camille Paglia

Original Article

Posted By:Drive, 12/16/2013 2:40:20 PM

If men are obsolete, then women will soon be extinct—unless we rush down that ominous Brave New World path where females will clone themselves by parthenogenesis, as famously do Komodo dragons, hammerhead sharks, and pit vipers. A peevish, grudging rancor against men has been one of the most unpalatable and unjust features of second- and third-wave feminism. Men’s faults, failings and foibles have been seized on and magnified into gruesome bills of indictment. Ideologue professors at our leading universities indoctrinate impressionable undergraduates with carelessly fact-free theories alleging that gender is an arbitrary, oppressive fiction with no basis in biology.

FTA: Surely, modern women are strong enough now to give credit where credit is due!

Sadly, this is not true.

For many women, having and raising children brings a joy and satisfaction to life that is beyond description. From that standpoint, it´s a woman´s world. Camille is not a mother and sadly hasn´t experienced that joy. She would have been amazing! So this world needs and brings joy to, and belongs to both men and women, just in different ways.

Camille is sort of a female Hitchens.

Those who have both great intelligence and a degree of worldly wisdom simply refuse to accept the mindless dogmas of either side.

The trouble with men is that they exhibit powerful and creative traits that ´non-men´ envy and do a lousy job of imitating.

Manhood is not about genitalia, but rather about worldview, courage, compassion and a willingness to ´pay the price´.

Those who collect grievances and resort to whining and fussing simply do not qualify.....and they really hate it.

Anyone who grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood or family knows that men do most of the dirty work in this world.

It´s no picnic to work hard all day at physical labor, often in bad weather or dangerous conditions. But the men I´ve known who did this work wanted to support their families, and often sacrificed their health to their jobs. Modern feminists are too stupid and self-absorbed to know that.

Women who nurse a "peevish, grudging rancor against men" have always bee with us. They used to just become nuns. Dressed in the black and white, we could see them coming and cross the street. Now we have to be on the lookout for the short haircut, absence of lipstick, sweatshirt, and tattoos, none of which is a dead giveaway even in combination. It is now MUCH harder to identify and avoid them.

Modern feminism suffers from the same misguided political math all progressive programs suffer. Understand it and a lot of what progressives do starts to make sense. Its still wrong, but at least one can understand the fundamental flaw.

All progressive theory´s whether economic, social or political starts with an unshakable conviction no one can be raised up unless someone else is torn down.

To the left all societies qualities are finite, there is only one pie and if one group deserves to get a bigger piece of that pie someone else must give up some of theirs.

The concept that the pie can grow is foreign to the left. Everything available is already doled out and the only way to attain equality is for some wise elitist to analyze the finite pie and reapportion it among the "deserving" so as to fit some non quantifiable definition of "fair".

Feminism believes women cannot be raised without men being demonized.

Liberal economics believes that the poor can only be enriched at the expense of the wealthy.

Liberal "science" believes that "green" technology can only be utilized if Big Oil is bankrupted.

Liberal unions believe that worker welfare can only be attained by punishing employers.

The list is endless.

I was raised in a family where my grandparents grew up on a farm. My grandmother used to tell us stories of how the women in her family would be up before dawn baking bread and getting breakfast ready, then they´d start on lunch, take a short break, and prepare dinner. During harvest they could be cooking for 20 or more men, all of them hungry from hard physical labor.

My grandmother said that as a young woman she did this on a regular basis. The work was physically demanding, but necessary. These women´s work was vital for the farm´s survival and was treated within the community as equal to what the men did.

I was raised to believe that the work women traditionally did was of enormous value and nothing to be ashamed of. Having had a "career" I´m now a stay-at-home mom and have never worked so hard in my life. We are the backbone of every community. The school volunteers, the team moms, the caregivers; without us a lot of stuff wouldn´t get done.

Camille has a rare combination today that infuriates liberals and confuses conservatives... She is a liberal with the liberty gene. Liberals today are into control and coercion to achieve their utopian goals. They have lost the American liberty urge, especially ironic in that liberal and liberty share the same root derivation.

Conservatives get and value liberty. So does Camille.

There are a few things we take for granted in social interactions with people. We presume that we see the world in roughly the same way, that we all know certain basic facts, that words mean the same things to you as they do to me. And we assume that we have pretty similar ideas of right and wrong. But for a small – but not that small – subset of the population, things are very different. These people lack remorse and empathy and feel emotion only shallowly. In extreme cases, they might not care whether you live or die. These

Lerner has twice been called before Congress to testify about her involvement in the inappropriate targeting of conservative 501(c)(4) groups for extra scrutiny. On both occasions Lerner asserted her 5th amendment right not to testify. Rep. Issa and other Republicans on the Committee have maintained that Lerner waived her right not to testify when, during her first appearance before the Committee back in 2013, she made a speech proclaiming her

The Obama administration has made it increasingly difficult for Congress and inspectors general to uncover government misdeeds and access information in various agencies, according to recent congressional testimony and reports. On Thursday, Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz testified before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing that Attorney General Eric Holder stonewalled his investigation of the “Operation Fast and Furious” gunwalking scandal. Mr. Horowitz also said his office has been stymied in other investigations of the Justice Department because of the Obama administration’s interpretation of access laws, which essentially requires investigators to ask department heads for permission to investigate them. “For a review

Hypersensitive students and professors all over the country are about to score another victory for political correctness if they succeed in their mission to normalize the use of “trigger warnings,” which are intended to protect people from taking part in class discussions and media that might offend them. Trigger warnings are most commonly attached to online news articles and blog posts. They warn readers that the post contains specific, offensive content. An article about sexual violence, for instance, might come with a trigger warning for rape victims. The idea is to prevent post traumatic stress. But censorship-inclined activists are now eager to

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Wednesday continued its abolition of limits on election spending, striking down a decades-old cap on the total amount any individual can contribute to federal candidates in a two-year election cycle. The ruling, issued near the start of a campaign season, will very likely increase the role money plays in American politics. The 5-to-4 decision, with the court’s more conservative members in the majority, echoed Citizens United, the 2010 decision that struck down limits on independent campaign spending by corporations and unions. Wednesday’s decision seemed to alter campaign finance law in subtle but important ways, notably by limiting

I argued the former, citing a fresh CBS News survey that aligned with previous negative polling. The latest Quinnipiac poll should settle the debate. It pegs President Obama´s approval rating underwater at 42/50, with Obamacare clocking in at 41/55.
