U of M crime alerts spark backlash
KARE 11, (Minneapolis, MN), by Boua Xiong

MINNEAPOLIS--Black students at the University of Minnesota say racial descriptions in crime alerts does not help catch suspects. Instead, it´s hurting black male students. There have been more than two dozen crimes on or near the U this year. Crime alert after crime alert describes many of the suspects as young black males. "There are a plethora of young black men on campus who fit that description," Abdel-Kader Toovi, a college senior and vice president of the Black Men´s Forum on campus, said. Ian Taylor, a junior and president of the Black Men´s Forum, said many of their members have expressed concern over how

The media can come up with a solution. Tell their readers/listeners that from now on, they will only give the race/sex of the suspect if it´s a white male. If there is no description, it´s up to the reader/listener to infer the race/sex of the suspect.

Jesse Jackson says he crosses the street to avoid contact with young black men and older black boys. That´s good enough for the young students at the U of M and elsewhere.

If young Abdul doesn´t like it, maybe he should take up his studies in Niger OR maybe if young black males stopped committing so many crimes there would be no problem. Suck it up bucko, if the shoe fits... .

My first reaction, before I got to the last sentence of this article, was:"Do the people complaining want to get tougher on crime or go easier? Do they support neighborhood watch programs or oppose them?"

The last sentence sounded promising, but it was too vague. If their ideas for making the campus safer for everyone means taking out racial descriptions, advising potential victims to walk in large groups, then we know they are not sincere.

So let me get this straight.

There have been over a dozen recent crimes committed on campus in which the perps have been identified as "young black males," and the crime alerts have specified the perp´s race as an aid to catching or being on the lookout for them, but Black student groups say this is "profiling," and unfairly giving black students on campus a bad name?

How about, if Blacks didn´t commit so many crimes (FBI crime statistics show that blacks are seven times more likely to commit murder than other races, and eight times more likely to commit robbery, see http://www.examiner.com/article/federal-statistics-of-black-on-white-violence-with-links-and-mathematical-extrapolation-formulas )they wouldn´t be featured so often in such crime alerts?

I already do that #1. The Atlanta media only give descriptions of race if it´s a white male. When they don´t give the race of who to be on the lookout for we all know what race.

To their credit, they do show pictures of those arrested or police artist sketches. 90% are black, of course.

Black crime is a national tragedy and instead of trying to honestly address the problem the left prefers to hide the problem. I don´t know who they think they are fooling. The media´s refusal to use the race of perps has actually become laughable and the subject of jokes.

How about describing the perps as "non-white, and non-Asian, and non-Native American"?
Would that soothe their delicate sensibilities?
The fact is 80% of crime is caused by blacks, even while they comprise only 13% of the population.
Deal with it.

The situation in Minneapolis is particularly bad because of all the Somalis that were relocated there after receiving political sanctuary. They are 3-4 generations behind in knowing how to function in civilized society.

"Crime alert after crime alert describes many of the suspects as young black males."

Maybe that´s because crime after crime is being committed by young black males? The crime reports will need to include disclaimers from now on, suggesting that the perpetrator(s) may have been extraterrestrial visitors, sentient microörganisms, or rogue energy fields, to take some of the pressure off of all the guys who are being traumatized because they fit the police descriptions.

About 30 years ago the local news stations in Los Angeles got the same complaints so they stopped including the race of a crime suspect if they were black. Of course they still let us know whether the individual was white, Hispanic, Asian, etc., so it didn´t take long for viewers to figure out that, if the news anchors didn´t mention the race, the perpetrator was presumed to be black.

We know how it works. Reality discriminates against black criminals and punks. What once was "a description of the suspect" is now grounds for firing somebody, or jailing somebody, or screeching RACISM! to the high heavens.

Sex, color, height, and weight are the major identifying characteristics of anybody, with other factors entering in. If a woman´s visibly pregnant and that fact isn´t mentioned in a description of her, nobody would even think of her as a suspect. Baldness, or thick red hair, or a freckled face, or a pronounced limp - all are also useful things to look for if part of a description of a suspect.

Omitting color in a description of a suspect assaults common sense.

There´s something called FERPA which requires that certain types of crimes on college campuses have to be reported. It´s a federal law. Part of any crime report is a description of the suspect. If you are mugged by a girl scout selling cookies it has to be reported. No choice.

Yes that´s probably true. The authorities could probably save a lot of time if they just assume the perpetrator is black as they would be correct over 90% of the time. That way blacks don´t get their feelings hurt and most of the time the police will be ahead on the investigation.

The Black Men´s Forum should be ashamed of what is happening and want to do something about it in their communities. Instead they blame others. Reminds me of the first black president. It really is a shame how far back race hustlers have set black-white mutual respect for the sake of personal power because honorable and honest, hard working black people who don´t break the law are the victims.

So, give proper descriptions. For example:Witnesses say the culprit was was dark complected, with black, curly hair (dredlocks, bushy haired, bald, etc), brown eyes, a wide nose and thick lips. He had a gold front tooth with a diamond in the middle, heavy gold chains and four gold earrings in the right ear. He wore pants that were too large, and hung so low he could barely walk, exposing his red and white underware. He wore expensive red and orange Nike basketball shoes."

That should resolve the race issue in perpetrator descriptions.

Can you imagine a White Men´s Forum, or a White Caucus? "They" would instantly demand to be integrated. It seems they are segregating themselves. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive

A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, a U.S. military official said Monday. In the first public account of the incident, the official said the Russian Fencer flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level. Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings. The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of
