Bill de Blasio Walks Away From White House
Meeting With Sweeping National Hopes

New York Observer, by Jill Colvin

Original Article

Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio went down to Washington, D.C. today to meet with President Barack Obama, emerging emboldened that a “progressive movement” was sweeping the nation. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, which included 15 other newly-elected mayors, Mr. de Blasio said it was clear to him that the fight against inequality–which formed the centerpiece of his campaign–was gaining steam far beyond the five boroughs. “You can’t have a room full of mayors–literally every corner of the country–all spontaneously saying to the president of the United States the same exact things from their own experience: Something’s going on here …

Just because New York City voted to commit suicide doesn´t mean the rest of us have. I have an acquaintance who is a long time NYC boy who said he´s leaving the city because de Blasio is more left-wing than Dinkens...if that´s possible.

One thing you need to know about NYC. The bulk of the voters are parasites sucking off the few who pay NYC taxes and the rest of NY taxpayers for the balance of their freebies.

Rush had a caller this week who lives in NYC and is a small business owner. He was complaining about the fees and taxes he has to pay and of course the big bite of health care. He said he pays $13K a year in property taxes. Rush asked him why he doesn´t move to a state with friendlier taxes and the guy said he can´t because he loves NYC so much he can´t leave. NYers are insane.

Big cities in America have been run by de Blasio types for 40 years. Let´s talk governors, smaller cities, regions of country run by Republicans. We still have the advantage. I´ll cede the major cities to the progressives, but de Blasio is a true believer revolutionary. He´s different from a Mennino in Boston who is just a Democrat. de Bla is dangerous, but only to New Yorkers. CT, NJ, PA, are going to start swiping the NYC business.

De Blasio demonstrates the intoxicated enthusiasm with which progressives view themselves and their omniscience -- most especially Obama.

NYC will begin to curdle, and De Blasio will begin pointing fingers. I and my family are leaving next spring/summer.

But it´s temporary respite. The mayors will drag down the states and the country as their progressive failure requires endless bailouts from somebody, somewhere, who still has assets that can be demonized and taken.

The names of the six-member jury panel that acquitted George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin have been made public for the first time, after a new court order, records show. Circuit Judge Debra Nelson, who had previously ordered the jurors´ identifying information be kept confidential, granted access to the names in a ruling March 21. Zimmerman´s defense asked the judge in June to keep the names secret until six months after the verdict. (Snip) Attempts to reach the jurors by phone and in-person Thursday were unsuccessful.

Senators blocked President Obama’s nominee to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division Wednesday in a bipartisan filibuster, with opponents saying his history defending a convicted cop-killer in the Supreme Court made him a poor choice. The defeat of Debo P. Adegbile, who as an attorney for the NAACP backed appeals by former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, is a major blow to Mr. Obama. Democrats changed the rules last year to overcome filibusters with just 50 votes, but Majority Leader Harry Reid couldn’t even muster all of his own troops Wednesday.

President Barack Obama is warning Russia "there will be costs" for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway. Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it´s unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia´s calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West. "Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing," Obama declared Friday

How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.
