HHS goes lawless, flailing around
as Obamacare deadline looms

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 12/13/2013 8:28:38 AM

"Nice little insurance company you´ve got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it." In essence, that´s the message just delivered to the health care insurance industry. Panicking, they´re just making it up as they go along, under pressure of the December 23rd deadline for enrollment in Obamacare in order to be covered in 2014. In an ill-considered move, the Department of Health and Human Services contravened the law and vaguely threatened ("strongly encouraged") the health insurance industry in order to assuage some of the injuries done by the poor design and incompetent administration of Obamacare.

The insurance companies have been in on this from the beginning, hoping to reap enormous profits from mandatory insurance. It is corporatism at it´s worst. Of course they will go along with whatever barry says.

This, to me, is the exclamation point on the fact that it was NEVER about health care. Health care was the issue used by the Dems to get power and once it passed, they didn´t give the health aspect a second thought. Now that ´the masses´ are expecting them to deliver, they have been caught flat footed.

They are d´d if they do and d´d if they don´t. Insurance regulations are a straitjacket. Without them insurers have failed to pay claims in a timely manner and have used innumerable scams to get out of paying at all. HHS throwing around these "strong encouragements" does nothing but expose insurance companies to retribution if they don´t comply and lawsuits if they do.

Thursday night House Minority Leader and former Speaker of the House Rep Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal) who represents a district that believes we have to be against income inequality and the one per cent even though our income is unequal because we are part of the one per cent, helped comedian Jon Stewart establish his bi partisan cred. Appearing on his show, even he laughed at her--not with her--when she repeatedly answered "I don´t know" and "It´s not my responsibility" to such simple questions as to why the Obamacare website failed. The Indian American immigrant vs. the radical white son of a one percenter capitalist was quite a spectacle. The Dinesh D´Souza and Bill Ayers debate on Thursday night at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, and sponsored by Young America´s Foundation, hands down showed D´Souza has a broad view of history and a love of America as a "wealth creator." In contrast, Ayers has a narrow progressive view where "we [the people] are the sovereign, collective authority." Last week the U.S. Senate´s lone black member, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, was the object of yet another viscous attack centering on his skin color and political ideology. In a day and age where we see black Americans flourishing in all walks of life from the classroom to the board room, who or what could be the source of such consistent, vile, racially denigrating rhetoric? The Klu Klux Klan, Aryan Nation or some other white supremacy group? No. None of these. How boringly familiar was the State of the Union address? Boring enough that Joe Biden, seated right behind Obama and on camera for the entire snooze fest, started mugging and interacting with members of Congress in the audience. It was quite a good commentary on the performance of the Commander in Chief who could not rise above the level of pabulum. Watch the video below and see for yourself.

Many analysts of national news media have noted that there is a double standard with regard to how the media report the behavioral faux pas of Republican versus Democratic politicians. But there is a far more important difference between the two national parties and their moral postures. This difference is revealed when one compares the campaign rhetoric used by the DNC to the behavior of Democratic officials at the local, state, and national levels once they have achieved positions of power.

The American system of government has as it´s chief executive, a president who is carefully checked by a watchful Congress and a consientious judiciary. Except, when it isn´t. Case in point: Our president plans to rule us - not govern us - by using the vast powers of his office and absolute control of the federal bureaucracy to ram his vision of hope and change down our throats. Done without the approval of Congress and with little challenge from the judiciary. Can he get away with it? Watch him: The new plan "is to bring all of the government alive in a way we

Hundreds of career Justice Department lawyers have broken into open revolt against Attorney General Holder over his support of legislation that would drastically cut back on mandatory minimum sentences for drug pushers.
