Lies of Obamacare:
Lie of the year edition

Jonah Goldberg devotes a column to the foundational lies of Obamacare with special attention to the third — the one that promised billions of dollars in savings. “This lie took several forms,” Goldberg notes, and looks at a few of them, all of them false. “Obamacare may have been sold on a trinity of lies,” Goldberg concludes, “but it turns out it’s also lies all the way down.” Goldberg’s column is well timed to coincide with the recognition accorded to the first of the foundational lies of Obamacare — “If you like your health plan, you can keep your health

"...And I want to do everything we can to make sure that people are finding themselves in a good position, a better position than they were before this law happened..." Firstly, laws don´t ´happen´, Barry. And secondly, the ONLY thing you have to do to make sure people find themselves in a better position is to REPEAL the law. But, I guess that doesn´t fall under ´everything´, therefore, it is another Obamacare lie. Color me shocked.

What did he think the public´s reaction would be after they found out the truth? How did he hope to overcome these lies?
How could the people around him want to be associated with this plan? There will be a lot of books coming out of this disaster, but it won´t help those effected.

STORRS, Conn.– Jubilant fans celebrating UConn’s Monday night national basketball championship win smashed a window in an engineering building, broke street lights and overturned furniture inside the school’s student union. Campus police had made 30 arrests by 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, while state police had made others and more were expected, said University of Connecticut spokesman Tom Breen. “A lot of it was alcohol-related,” Breen said. “There was breech of peace, destruction of property, and we had a fireworks charge.” Most of the property damage was minor, he said. No serious injuries had been reported. “By far, most of our students

UPS sent 17 more Queens drivers packing Friday night, bringing the total number of workers fired in an ongoing labor dispute to 36, the Daily News has learned. The shipping company fired 19 workers a week ago and informed another 17 they were no longer on payroll effective Friday, said spokesman Steve Gaut. The remaining 214 will be let go as replacement drivers are trained, the company has said. United Parcel Service decided to fire all 250 of its Queens delivery drivers after they participated in a 90-minute work stoppage two months ago. They were protesting the dismissal of a

Under new rules issued by President Obama on Tuesday, federal contractors may not retaliate against employees who tell co-workers how much money they make; and those federal contractors must now send the Labor Department wage information broken down by their employees´ race and gender. "And so all the president wants to do is make sure we have transparency," Senior White House Adviser Valerie Jarrett told MSNBC´s "Morning Joe" on Tuesday. WASHINGTON- President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress are making a concerted election-year push to draw attention to women´s wages, linking Obama executive actions with pending Senate legislation aimed at closing a compensation gender gap that favors men. Obama on Tuesday planned to sign an executive order prohibiting federal contractors from retaliating against workers who discuss their pay. He also was to direct the Labor Department to issue new rules requiring federal contractors to provide compensation data that includes a breakdown by race and gender. The Democratic-controlled Senate this week planned to take up legislation that would make

It all started with an email. The message landed in my inbox on Monday, March 24, sent by a source I trust. “The FEC Has a Question for Harry Reid,” the subject line teased, and inside was a link to a document on the Federal Election Commission’s website. The document itself didn’t seem all that sensational. “Please amend Schedule B supporting line 17 of your report to clarify the following description: ‘holiday gifts,’” it instructed Reid’s campaign office. The line item in question specified that $11,370 had been paid to one Ryan Elisabeth for said holiday gifts. I made a

The president whose troops nailed Saddam Hussein has joined Vladimir Putin, U.S. Grant, Dwight D. The Senate approved a bill Monday to bar a former hostage-taker tapped to be Iran´s ambassador to the United Nations from entering the United States. By voice vote, Republicans and Democrats united behind the legislation sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, that reflected congressional animosity toward Tehran and its selection of Hamid Aboutalebi. Iran´s envoy choice was a member of a Muslim student group that held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. President Barack Obama today suggested that’s he’ll pressure Congress to to reduce voters’ student-loan payments before the November elections. “We’ve got to make it easier to repay student loans,” he told a subdued and unresponsive audience at Bladensburg High School, in Prince George’s County, Md. Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing

When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us," he said. "Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."
